  1. I'm trying to figure out how to remove the freehub body and replace the bearings. The axle, bearing and freehub all seem to be attached to each other. Removing the end spacers was about as far as I could get. I wasn't able to pull off the freehub body and didn't want to attempt to try and hammer out the axle. Both sides have the shape of a rather big allen key, which I don't have. I suspect this may require other specialized shop tools. I had a look on Youtube and tried finding a service manual, but no luck so far. Any advice appreciated, thanks. Yes, it's dirty and the bearings feel a bit rough, which is why it needs a service.
  2. Yup. A while ago on a ride something felt off and I noticed something almost like when you have a loose headset. Turned out to be the front axle that had wiggled it's way out. I suppose you can add a drop of loctite if you want it more secure, but it might make a trailside repair difficult if you overdo it.
  3. Had one of those. The trick is to get a mechanic specializing in them. Had a problem once where my usual mechanic couldn't diagnose it. Took it to the specialist and he immediately knew what was wrong and fixed it. Definitely agree that it's not user friendly to work on them.

I'm a bit surprised, I though Alonso was close to extending his Alpine deal. I think they have long term potential because they are putting a lot of money towards things, but right now it seems like a step backwards and Alonso might not be there long enough to see the long term benefits. Also would assume that Piastri would probably be joining Alpine next year.

Alonso could be going until he's 50 😅 but he's still competitive.

  8. Nothing a little bit of Shoe Goo can't fix SofSole Shoe Goo | Sportsmans Warehouse It's actually pretty decent stuff, I fixed my cycling shoes with it before and might be worth a try on that tyre to salvage it for a training tyre, considering what tyres cost these days.

Yeah, it could possibly have been a podium, even after the 5s penalty was applied. They must have thought that the tyres wouldn't last to the end. Apparently Race control sent out two "Virtual Safety Car" ending messages, which caused Perez to increase his speed too early and get caught out by having to slow down again before the green flags.

  12. You mean it shouldn't be dripping? You actually get oiler devices for motorcycles that drip oil onto the chain while you ride.
  13. (Probably) Never using wet lube on my bike again. Admittedly I put on too much, but it's a no go on dry, dusty, sandy trails like where I ride. Poor crunchy drivetrain A real mess to clean up as well.

it might be (and I think already is) like Vettel - he was disliked by a lot of people when he was on his winning streak, but now sentiment has changed and a lot of people like him, even those who didn't.

That would be pretty cool. Would like to see a race in person, but can just imagine the ticket prices.
  17. Ouch! Glad you're ok. Any concussion / concussion symptoms? A couple of the World Cup DH riders have had crashes recently and had to sit out races due to the after effects.

Max wasn't happy that he couldn't complete his flying lap, but the rest seems like nonsense tabloid style sensationalism to me.
