  1. If I see you on the trails, I'm going to call you a chick... Funny though, cause I'm buying a (discounted) Men's Flux for my wife - so I was very interested to hear any valid differences...
  2. Does anyone know of anyone who had the following bikes stolen : a Raleigh RC6000 & RC2000 ? There's a chap selling them on Gumtree but all the details he's given about age, size, etc are bollocks and clearly evident of someone who has no idea of the history of these bikes.
  3. Hi guys - so how was the riding ? Looks like I'll be heading to Wyndford in Oct & def gonna want those GPX files... Can you give some heads up regarding distance of trails & elevation climb..? Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  4. Does anyone have experience with Northwave Bib Shorts ? In particular the ELITE GEL 39/25 model ? Are they any good ? Comfortable, Durable, etc ? I bought a pair of Sportful earlier this year and they lasted about 20 rides.!
  5. Hi - the one bottleneck was to cross the wooden bridge in order to get to the start of the race - the other bottleneck in the race was to cross the river where it was very steep up the opposite embankment - about 5km into the 15km race. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  6. This is why i use a broker - and he had a hard time with me. All policies require these items to be specified and this should have been explained to you. Only Hollard offer a relatively new policy, I think aimed at 'high income' groups where you do not need to specify anything. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  7. That's so funny because it's so true - exactly what happened with me. Was perfect for about 7 years and then didn't stop working loose. Used some locktite end of last year and that stopped it but the 'skewness' is getting worse... Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  8. So at the last minute, literally 7:30am on Sun morning my son (4 & 1/2) and i decided to enter the 15km race with him on his half wheeler. We packed, drove, arrived, unpacked, kitted up and arrived at registration at 8:55 (man it takes long to get him kitted up) to be told that we were too late to register. However, all the ladies with BIG smiles told us to ride anyway but that we wouldn't be timed. Not aiming for a podium anyway, this suited us perfectly. In many years I have done many races and I really must commend the organisers on a really fun event with a very decent route. Of course the bottle neck to cross the bridge was a nuisance and the race slightly delayed but all the RED-shirt helpers were so full of smiles and happy to help, both before and after the race. My little boy had such a ball that he was already asking me on Monday when the next race is happening. He got his own medal, orange water bottle and a sucker and had the best morning ever. Very few races are so chilled and orientated around kids and families. I really wish there were more like this on the calendar - in fact, you guys should put this on once a quarter and not once a year. Just one comment though - the water stop on the 15km race could've been better suited to all the kids - biscuits, sweets, chips, boiled potatoes.... Thanks guys... 10. I have had issues before with the bolts working themselves loose but I've always tightened again almost immediately. There is no movement if you try and move the crank sideways but you might be on the money with a worn spline... [emoji30] Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  12. So... New BB or new Crank..? Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  13. I need some assistance wrt the possible cause for all three of my chainrings not rotating 'true' - as you turn the crank all 3 rings are visibly 'bent' with the greatest movement visible on the large ring and the less on the smallest ring. I guess that the large chain ring fluctuates by about 3-4mm as you rotate 360°. Clearly is not my chainrings that are all bent, so where is the problem ? The crank is tight and both the 8mm & 10mm nuts are very tight. There is no movement of the crank arm sideways. Perhaps it's the bracket from the crank that holds all 3 chainrings that is bent ? Bike Sales SA

Please do - would be most useful - thanks Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  16. Personally, i think that whilst Polar were, without doubt the market leaders in this segment, even up to 5 years ago, there simply is no doubt that they've been left behind in all aspects and all disciplines by everyone else. I won't buy Polar again - largely because of the contents of their stance regarding 3+ year old equipment and Win 10 but also because compared to all the other brands out there, the Polar offerings are hideous. Bike Sales SA

This could well be true if you look at the location of the bulk of 2nd hand sales in the classifieds on this forum. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  18. I also hit this wall a few weeks back when i upgraded to Win 10, which is actually fantastic and did quite a lot of research into the matter. Whilst i was also beyond appalled at the response from Polar, it seems as though the dirty was actually done by microsoft who decided to drop support for the IR unit "the day before release". I think (hope) that MS will come to their senses soon and provide this patch. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  19. Does anyone have any idea regarding the number of new bikes that are sold in SA per month / per annum ? Perhaps split between Road / MTB. I would probably exclude the sub R2-3k bikes. Thanks. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

  21. Anybody still there..! Still in Plett/knysna area..? Doing any rides other than Harkerville / Petrus se Brand..? Keen to hook up.?
  22. Hey.. Last year there were morning outrides every day from Kevin Evans' bike shop on the main road through town.. Lots more interesting rides on the mtb though..
  23. I know the Plett / Knysna area very well. Been going there on hol for the past 31 yrs.! and been riding mtb there for the past 5 or 6 yrs. Some comments : You absolutely HAVE to do Harkerville Red Route - but be careful. If it is moist (or wet) the roots become slippery and dangerous. There are always a couple of broken bones every December on this route.! Obey STOP or SLOW signs on the trail - they're not joking. Park at Garden of Eden and enter Harkerville on other side of the main road. Buy permit at Garden of Eden and get a map or you'll get lost.. Petrus se brand is awesome. Towards the end there is about 2km of the most awesome downhill single track you have ever ridden - you'll think you're Greg M.! But be careful not to miss the turn-off for this. The normal route is to get dropped off at the forestry station at the top and ride down to the exit at Garden of Eden. This is a pain as you need a very patient friend to drop you and wait at the bottom. In this direction the route is mainly downhill with 2 large climbs and about 23Km. We park at Garden of Eden and ride up and and then back down - def the way to go if you've got it in your legs. PS: don't ride up the single track that I just mentioned - go up on the road by-pass. Buy permit at Garden of Eden and get a map or you'll get lost.. Homtini trail is awesome - just outside knysna towards george, but way up in the mountains with amazing views. Not very long - i think under 20Km with one massive hill climb which is very steep with loose rocks. It is rideable though. If you're coming from out of town, I would recommend focusing on only these 3 and in this order of priority.. Enjoy.. Maybe we'll see you on the trails.. Ride safe.. J
