  1. Good day and thank you to all who took the time to open this thread. My name is Gavin Kilpatrick, some of you may remember me from a spectacular crash on a track tandem with Michael Thomson in the semi finals of the men's sprint for blind and visually impaired cyclists against those darn Ausies at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games. A long journey has unfolded since then and I currently find myself competing as a Paratriathlete based in Cape Town with my guide Michael Harris. I have started an initiative to get more people with sight impairments involved in sport and specifically tandem cycling and triathlon. There are currently 5 male and three female VI athletes competing at various distances and levels of competition and we would like to double this number with the generous assistance of the cycling community. The greatest challenge for a person with a sight impairment is to find a willing and able guide to assist them with preparation for competition but then there is the requirement for equipment and the need for tandem bikes. Any equipment would be welcome, both road and mountain as there are also Cross tri events. My request is to anyone who would be willing to either donate a bike, loan a bike or even wish to guide an athlete to please contact me through my club DeltaSport (www.deltasport.co.za) which is now a registered triathlon club under the CTTA region of the Western Cape. Athletes have the opportunity to compete in triathlon and duathlon and represent their provinces at national and international level as well as the opportunity to qualify for the Paralympic games. There are three categories in the PTVI class. B1, B2 and B3. and competition times are similar to those of the ITU elite women's category. Our aim is to give people with an impairment the opportunity to race and compete on a level playing field as well as promote the sport of disability and integrate it with able body sport. This initiative is also extended to people of other disabilities who are more then welcome to contact me for more information as there are a total of 9 various disability classes within Paratriathlon and we would greatly appreciate equipment donations towards these athletes as well if you are able to make a contribution of any sort. We hope to grow and develop the progeram for Paratriathletes oiver the next few years and qualify athletes in all disability classes through this initiative with the assistance from Triathlon South Africa. You can contact me on info@deltasport.co.za or call me on 0722122058 Regards Gavin Do not be afraid of people with disabilities, be motivated by them!!!
  2. Hi Everyone. As per the news reports, there is a bus strike starting from tomorrow across the country. As a public transport user, I will be affected by these strikes and was wondering if anyone would be able to assist me with a lift from Claremont area through to Observatory while the strike is on? I would really appreciate it if there is someone who can help me out here. Please drop me a message 072 212 2058. Gavin

  8. Hi Everyone I have a special request to anyone who would like to donate a tandem. The more , the merrier. The SA Blind Tandem association are always looking for bikes to get blind and sight impaired guys and girls up and riding to compete in the local Western Cape PPA events as well as the more iconic events such as Cape Town Cycle Tour, Double Century and the opportunity to compete at other events like the Discovery Duathlon/Triathlon World Cup to be held in Cape Town in February 2017. Killarney Race Track will also re-open this week and we hope to have the guys on the track a few times a week. There is also opportunity to participate in National championships for all these disciplines. The mission is to create an opportunity for those who cant experience the thrill of riding a bike on their own, create awareness of sight impaired cyclists and inspire others who are abled and disabled to participate in the process. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. BIKES first and foremost, they can be tandems or singles, trainers and if anyone would be willing to offer a small kit sponsorship to design a kit with any company logos of people that have generously donated. If you would like to offer your pilot skills, that would also be welcome. You can email or call or Whatsap me!!! 0722122058

  17. Guys here is response to the pricing issues discussed earlier in the forum "Yes, we have recently taken a price increase at store level as we have been faced with price increases from our local suppliers. Whilst we make every effort to keep our prices as low as possible, we do believe that we are exceptionally well priced versus other brands on a like for like nutritional value basis. A recent analysis of the FutureLife product showed that the nutritional profile of FutureLife is actually more comparable with health products/ medical foods(that retail for around R100 / 500g), as opposed to cereal/ porridge brands that retail at R27 / 500g. Hence we do believe that at R30.00 / 500g FutureLife represents great nutritional value."
  18. I think the flavor ones are like pudding for breakfast
  19. What do you think of the strawberry?
  20. Thug what did you think of it?
  21. Future Life supports local farmers, and hence there is no choice but to purchase GM ingredients. And they do state it on the pack even though they are not legally required to do so. The govt supports GM farming, and all seeds used go through a stringent 3 year testing process which includes environmental impact assessments and human toxicology tests. If you would like more details; send me an email and I'll forward you the information.
  22. Has anyone tried the new strawberry flavor?
  23. Yes PnP, Dischem, Spar is where I have seen it most
  24. Hi Guys and Girls For those of you that know of this amazing product please can help me out by following them on Facebook amd twitter http://www.facebook.com/futurelifeza Thanks for your time
