do you know how common Robert's scenario is ? It happens in many industries.

In the motor trade you often get people wanted to "test drive" a car over an evening or weekend, only to find out they just needed it for an event, or to move house etc.

Back in my childhood we had family friends that would buy clothing from a shop, leave the label on, atttend a wedding/part and then return the item.

We get it in retail as well. Customers buy stuff because they having a party and need "props" then they return it on a Monday. Most of the time with parts missing or broken.

  2. We all know that dedicated "pedestrian" and cycle lanes are not an item that anyone uses in this country. You get pedestrians and runners in the road, some even just dart out in traffic and you get cyclists in the road despite the law requiring single file and use of cycle lane if there is one.

This has GOT to be my pet peeve. I am absolutely frustrated when I am approaching well left of where normal people cycle, only to be forced into the road because a runner is on my side of the road and refuses to move to let me past.

If people insist on running on the wrong side of the road then they should consider the cyclist who they expect to either stop or veer into traffic so that they can be given the courtesy of being a chop, I mean pass.

    . . . I dislike running. I will stop now.

I come to a stop in the middle, forcing the runner to move either side. I wont risk myself like that, unless it is extremely quite on the road. Which is why I predominately ride MTB. Roadies is for extra early mornings, and in the deep south. I just cant ride the Atlantic seaboard anymore.

About day 3 is when the harshness of the cold reality of the hit & run kicks in.🫤

I am discharged now and headed home where the little things become the big things - crutches, handfuls of pills, chicken soup and the hourly emotional roller coaster. I just brushed my teeth and now need to recover.
And I’m alive and sound of mind to type this to my online community. Every message of support here means tons - it brings in positive energy into my world. My son bought me Pika, as he calls it, to help me get better. 😌

The next big milestone is follow-up with the orthopaedic surgeon. And another achievement maybe shaving later this morning. 🎯

Be safe out there, Peoples. 💟

Stay positive dude, recovery and physio and you will be back stronger in no time. And when you fell you dont need to do the strength exercises, dont stop, push on. I know that feeling now, everything is a mission and you get tired, soon it will dissipate.

I hope the rider is okay all things considered. And that the driver gets appropriately punished. Maybe spending Christmas with pappa in Pollsmoor should do the trick.

Apparently the driver who hit the cyclist was drunk. He was taken in custody in fish hoek. Subsequently he has been dismissed from his work!

go to SAPS and tell them you don't have enough evidence to lay a charge but you have all the perps details. suggest to them to accompany you to visit the perp , they will more than likely love to get out of the office and make the visit with you.

I think a charge( i say under correction) of reckless endangerment could be issued.

Approx 4 percent of the American population meets the criteria for anti social.personality disorder. Possibly more in our country for those complex reasons you mention.

Only about 1 in 4 are women so that means that if you grab 100 random males off the street maybe 6 of them will meet the criteria.

Here are the criteria for antisocial personality. You need 3 to qualify.

    • repeatedly breaking the law
    • repeatedly being deceitful
    • being impulsive or incapable of planning ahead
    • being irritable and aggressive
    • having a reckless disregard for their safety or the safety of others
    • being consistently irresponsible
    • lack of remorse

Put that behind the wheel of a hummer and ......

Worth remembering though that 6 out if every 100 okes you bump will have at least 3 of those in their personality profile.

Then majority of road users suffer from having anti social personality!

I only ride alone.  Always have.  I also think I am crazy but I cannot tolerate idle chatter and the "race" a social ride eventually turns out to be.

Same here. I am no race snake either. Groups generally get fed up with my slow pace and ride away from me. I cant be bothered. There are a few that do tolerate my pace also, but I also find alot of the times people are buys and dont have the time as often.
