  1. I have a suspicion that Grass Muncher is a duplicate account of someone here that was purely created to causes drama. I picked up a little glitch where he/she/it replied to a thread in such a random fashion that it could only point to being logged in on the wrong account.

At least I troll with my primary account

  2. Thanks. Normally I don’t have the horse power to get it loose. So much for girl power ????

    BUT...

Managed a bodge. Got the outer cable down to the bb. Then threaded inner cable through. Caught the inner via seat tube with a spoke attached to a short piece of outer for extra length. And voila.

That will work but over time you will have water and dirt gunk up that part where the two pieces of housing come together causing the cable to bind up.

  3. No Stumpjumper floor model or demo was available but I was repeatedly told to take the Evo for a test ride. I suspect a lack of stock is why the Evo was being pushed over a Stumpjumper.

This was my exact same experience about 6 months ago. Money in hand and I walked away and built my following.

I will do it again tomorrow if I had to. In fact, I want to. The Following V3 is everything i could ever need in a bike.

  4. I found this thread super useful. I have been riding a 54cm Road bike and now want to try an MTB. I must say, after 3 weeks of reading up and watching YouTube videos I was left more confused by all the lingo. This thread has helped me though. ????

From one DR to another Dr, the hub is a wealth of knowledge where 20% of all the members answer 80% of all the questions.

Ask anything and you will get an honest answer.

  5. Hi guys. So I pulled the trigger. I've got a scott bike in a small frame. I tried sitting on the medium frame and it was too big. The small frame is just right. Being a second hand bike I also got them to change the rear tyre, which they so kindly did not charge me for. I've also purchased a helmet, pump and bottle cage. Look forward to riding this evening.

    Scott is a great brand.

You're going to have a great time. Congrats

  6. Herbivohr make a really good pulled pork from Jackfruit, we have it pretty often in burritos.

They make a good chicken mayo too.

Exactly who we use. I did find though that once it gets cold and you reheat it gets a weird texture. Not pleasant cold either.

  7. Hi guys. Thank you very much for all you're advise. So the bike is a cannondale not canyon. Its a medium size frame. According to the salesman its my size. His got other brands and sizes as well, but he says this particular is the most suitable for me.

Make sure to ride it and also ride a smaller frame in that same bike.

At the end of the day the salesman gets his commission and you get a bike. Unlike his commission you have this bike for a very long time and it needs to fit like a glove.

  8. Do you stick to the recommended cadence?

Do "The Shovel" tonight..if you can stay under 150bpm...

I'm normally 5+/- from the recommended cadence.

The Shovel also scares me haha. Will give it a shot and see. I need to see why my ceiling is so low.

On the trail I vary cadence a LOT while I ride. Sprints, spins, power climbs etc.

  9. You should definitely look at that reading, you should easily get above 150bpm

Are you using the apple watch for HR?

I did a 40min IDT session last night, according to my Garmin watch my Max HR was 160bpm.

    HR Strap shows 181bpm.

I'll track tonight using the Tickr with Kickr feeding into strava via sufferfest

And Apple Watch recording an indoor ride into strava

See how it compares. All previous tests showed the Apple watch to be very close to the Tickr when working out.

  10. If you really are interested in seeing what your max HR is, you need to go do a fitness test. Last time I did mine they had me on the IDT and iicr I had to maintain a specific speed for a certain time and the speed just got higher at like 30sec intervals until I just couldn't anymore.

    129bpm is pretty low, even 150bpm isn't that high for a 40y/o.

I am not sure if you use something like a garmin but GC will automatically adjust your max if you have it set that way.

I think I need to get that done indeed.

I use the Wahoo Tickr together with the IDT and then Apple Watch with Strava on the trail.

I feel like I'm mostly at idle when riding but my legs don't agree.

  11. My understanding at this point is that the lower the HRV the more stress the body is under.

My understanding as well. I don't feel fatigued really and I was able to hit a hard sufferfest session last night without hassle.

Max HR was 129bpm and avg was 110bpm.

It takes a massive effort for me to hit above 150bpm though. In theory I should see at least 170bpm during a hard effort

  12. So this is a very confusing topic for me.

For the past 30 days my Apple Watch has tracked me almost non stop. It tells me my average is 26ms.

I'm 40 years old, about 20kg over my goal weight but fairly strong on the bike. My resting heart rate is below 60 and I have no chronic conditions. Blood glucose and cholesterol is 1000% correct.

According to Whoop an athlete aged 40 should be between 35ms and 65ms.

What does 26ms translate to exactly? Unfit? Unhealthy? New Heart?

  13. I did take the bike for a quick spin on the day I received it to ensure saddle height, stem, drops etc was setup correctly for me. Gears worked 100% but then again, I didnt use the full range.

Also, you are forgetting the FD was CRACKED (and not disclosed) before it was sent to me. I have pics to prove this sent by the seller via WhatsApp which I managed to zoom in and clean up using some specific software. It is clearly visible.

My theory was that the bike was dropped / banged as something caused the crack. It makes sense that the RD could have suffered a similar impact to its internal workings, hence my concern and request for a full refund.

We have agreed to some monetary value for the components (market related / second hand). Nothing available so had to fork out additional cash for a new.
