  6. there are three kinds of people, those that can count, and those that cant. back to topic, where to find rigid front forks?
  7. and to complete my cycling related pics. The top of Tamatieberg. From the bottom of the N11 to the top is 270m vertical ascent over 2.2km distance. It was about 7am in the morning, and it varied from sunny to so misty, that you cant see 3 meters in front of the bike.
  8. i played with Iphone Camera+ and it's cycling related.
  9. back roads for me as well. if i am forced to take the highway, then its between middle and fast lane in bumper to bumper. never in the emergency lane, never crossing the white barrier line on the extreme RH side. (that where the cages swerve to avoid a rear end when traffic comes to a sudden stop. In addition to all the debris. As for more dangerous to lane split - a reduced speed can greatly increase your reaction time. i have seen some dudes in the extreme RH lane doing speeds more suited to a track, also some lane split speeds that will even make rossi crap his pants. As for our new highways. the fastest lane certainly is the left hand lane, i see people doing 100 km/h in the middle lane, completely oblivious of the keep left pass right general rule of the road. (obviously in free flowing traffic.
  10. go to a bicycle shop and ask them if they have an old box that their new bicycle stock gets shipped in, then dismantle wheels, rear derailleur etc - tape box excessively and that man bob is married to your aunt.
  11. spoilsport..... i can now see why people complain about the moderation. :D ok, i am leaving... i know when i am not wanted....

  13. ahhh a topic so nice.. it has to be posted twice!!!
  14. you get two kinds of beer: Bought beer, and free beer. I like Free Beer. Currently sippng on a guiness as we speak. (type in my case) in my fridge: hansa. sometimes black label, and when i want to slum it, Heineken. Also try some of the Gilroys stuff, and the Irish Ale house near harties, if youre into craft brewing. had some home made stuff at my mate the other day....spent 3 days on the crapper aferwards, best tasting laxative on earth. i know TMI
  15. for a moment there i had to check to see that i am on the right Forum. the other one i frequent has the exact same moderator/non moderator threads. seems its the same wherever you go.
  16. i know!!!! the findings MUST be in the cupboard this online cluedo sure is a lot of fun!!!
  17. i want real development and talent identification. at ground level. not "cycle at 7 million watts for 6 hours" although this is a great roadie base, mountain biking and xc uses a whole different bunch of skills other than power output. Nigel, thank you for this comprehensive explanation. i think you summed it up great! but although our local boys need support and whatever boost they can have. i think it is unfair to use mainly funds generated from cyclists. Surely Sponsors (i know they were let down)should be the main source of income. i believe (as stated above) that the funds the general masses (94.7, picknpay argus cyclechallenge) should go towards real groundroots cycling development.
  18. the big diffirences are: no heartrate. no cadence. other than that, the size of the quest is a bit bulky. may also not be too happy if your bike goes tumbling.
  19. i was looking out my window for the sea, but alas nothing, the only thing we need now, is the ocean and a mountain. for the first time in 6 years i decided to take the car over the motorbike to work today.
