  1. Hi saeley sorry to hear about your ordeal What time was this? We did this route this am. Very early. Was it perhaps a mazda 323 single occupant?

  3. hi, need some help. I am changing a friends std 29er giant wheels(on a Giant Talon) to tubeless. did the whole tape thing, valves are in. problem comes with tyres. we bought specialized TL ready Fastrack tyres. they don't want to seat. used soap but cant get wheels to inflate. tried the garage pump, removed cores nothing seems to work. the one tyre is a 2.2 the other a 2.0. both don't wanna inflate. anybody have a trick please. I have even inverted the tyres for a while to stretch them a bit. I have done a few on 26er wheels and pumped with a floor pump 1st time. pls any help will be appreciated. thanks
  4. reminds me of the medallion last year. i started further back in the pack to ride with a friend. we were going up new hells. passing all the slower riders. coming up to this 2 guys with same shirts, the one infront of the other. we just see the front rider go closer to the steel barrier. clips the barrier and falls over the barrier. it was K@K funny to see. his friend didnt know what to do. luckly the guy got up dusted himself and climbed back over the barrier. it was so funny. i guess just his ego got hurt lol
  5. this incident reminds me about a ride we did a few weeks back. we were coming down Red Hill towards Simons Town. the bends are pretty tight. i normally descend infront of my friends ( im a little faster). i take the tight turn to my left and to my surprise there is a bus full of passengers struggling up. I immediately think of my friends behind me, they gonna get the bus on the bend. I stop and look back. the 1st guy comes thru. he went into the gutter to avoid the bus. the whole tail end of the bus was on the wrong side. my 2nd buddy is not so lucky. he is already in the gutter and the busses rear panel is scraping his leg. he bangs on the bus maintains his balance and survives. i tell u he saw his life flash infront of him. Im not sure if busses are allowed up red hill from Simons Town. Scary moment that was.

    99er crash out

hi i think my brother was in front of the guy( shafiek). There was some wheel overlapping. all my brother felt was someone skidding against his rear tyre and then there was a crash behind him. according my bro there wasn't much he good do. i have been cycling on the road for about 11 years now. And Alhamdulilah( thank God) i haven't been involved in any crashes. i am these days even more terrified/ on my nerves when riding in groups. there are many new roadies joining the sport which i think is great, but they all need to be taught or given some pointers on how to ride in groups. Riders do very silly things in peletons. we had a guy yesterday in a big group of about 30-40 riders, riding on the line of the cat=eyes. Everytime he would get one he would swerve out causing near collisions instead of just riding steadily on the yellow line. people come down hard on their brakes whip out water bottles on odd times, over lap wheels and hell just don't concentrate. Don't talk about the riders that think they can just jump into the middle of every peleton that passes lol. so maybe PPA or race organisers etc should maybe publish or try and hold some classes or something like skills clinics on how to ride in peletons... just my 2 cents
  7. another R200 from me. great work guys. much appreciated.
  8. www.aquacrazy.co.za. i also think she opening another school Southern suburbs side.
  9. i highly recommend Aqua crazy in pinelands. the owner Thania is just brilliant with little ones. all 3 my boys are/were her students.
  10. just ask for pallet wrap. that price seems to be right.
  11. hi johnnyreggae hope u have a speedy recovery. this reminds me of about 3 years ago going down main rd close to durham avenue. a truck driver just opened his door. he would of taken just my head off. my bike would of probably continued lol. i just missed it by a few cm's. another occasion about 3 weeks ago. early morning ride coming thru camps bay strip. there a lots of people parking there in the am and going for a ride. this guy in a suv with a bike on the back just kicks open his door. evasive action was required. one would of thought being a cyclist he would know better. best is to rather give yourself a wider berth from parked cars.

  15. Hi. looking for some advice. my buddy has a training bike and a race bike. the training bike is a raleigh rc 9000 with the 9 speed 105's. his race bike aslo a raleigh, team edition with 10 speed ultegra. to upgrade the training bike to 10 speed : 1. change cluster, shifter, chain and derailleur? 2. will the rear wheels be interchangeable between the 2 bikes? reason for the question on the wheels is that the ultegra bike has ultegra wheels and the 9spd has kysrium elites. are the ultegra and 105 clusters different? ( both 10spd) thanks in advance.

    sticky STI

hi, guys the bike has less than 500km on it. it was bought 2nd hand. funny thing is that if I release cable at derailleur it pulls nice and easy up when shifting ?? that's what confuses me. thanks for the pointers. gonna do the cheapest thing first and change the cable then the housing and take it from there.

    sticky STI

hi, im sitting with a little problem. my left STI requires lots of effort to change from small to the big blade. I have loosen the cable and the front derailleur moves fine. the sti also clicks nicely with finger tip movement(no load on cable). but once the cable is connected it struggles to shift? it has a 105 group set 6700 I think with cables under tape.it also has the little adjuster barrels just after the outer cable housing comes out from the tape. any help/suggestions please? regards

  20. funny thing my brother had the same problem with his giant TCR. we first replaced the seat post, cause we noticed a small crack on the carbon post. a ride later the creak was back. so off to dragons the bike went. they couldn't even get the cause of the creak! so next step Lourens from Bellville cut the post down to size and whala the creak was gone! thanks heaven because even I was getting gatvol of riding with him lol!
  21. Hooch this is all good advice u getting. i remember my first time up in tokai. i was on the famous Bridge cycles loan stumpie. everyone was telling me that it was a great bike. my very first entry into the ST i didnt have the faith that the bike could make the turn and i went straight into the bushes. a few scratches and a damaged ego. but i kept on trying. today tokai is my playground. great thing about learning in tokai is that you gain great technical ability. u see it at the races. any small obstacle or water crossing every1 gets off and walks it. they dont even attempt it. @DJR reminds me of my buddy, on the snake trails or Faerie cant remember, my buddy did some technical part, there was a nice women watching him. he cleared the obstacle looked at her then fell. when he dusted himself off, she told him " u made it but then u looked up at me, thats why u fell" we were in stiches after that.
  22. i have the same problem at my lbs they know i'm good for it, so i even get bikes to go home with and then doing eft's. wife goings crazy when i tell her i'm going to lbs!
  23. at primary school, cycled to school on a daily basis, about 4km's on my red "INVADER"
  24. hi, my zula weighs in at 12.1kg ( bathroom scale) happy with it. if u want it much lighter u gotta spend $$! easier and cheaper to shed a kilo or 2 of body weight!
