You can hardly see an dent on that photo. Ride it as is, it will not do anything. You should see the dents on some of my riding buddies rims.

I hear you. I just don’t like it when things on my bike are not 100% as they should be. It is poef but, it irritates the dinges out of me. And now that Bob was staring at my sweet nips I have more problems 😂

Stans MK3 are junk and Stan’s know it so they changed the design. The MK4 is very good. I prefer the Spank Vibracore rims though. The Vibracore really works to mute vibrations. I’m not mountain biking nowadays and have a Spank Vibracore Boost wheelset for sale in the classifieds.

Hey SSCC. I can’t find the add. Are they 27.5?

  3. Thanks guys!! My bike is Spanked out. If they made drive trains, brakes and suspension my whole bike would have had spank on it.
So it is settled. Will get the ball rolling.
added a pic of the dent. Wonder if it is worth replacing even.

  4. Hey everyone.
I managed to put a nice dent in my Spank Oozy rim.
I’m in Brunei at the moment and Stans is the easiest to get (Flow MK3) but if the Vibrocore rims are worth it I will go through the hassle.
So that is my question. Spank Vibrocore or Stans Flow MK 3?

Can I PLEASE set the record straight?

I live in Cape Town, and I am yet to encounter this anomaly called lunch. I work 27 hours a day, 12 days a week. The reason I am as fat as I am, apart from my wife faithfully smokkeling foodstuffs I shouldn't eat into the house, is because I am unable to ride my bike between 1 and 2 in the arvies.

That, and I live too far from the trails, and riding tar is for people who haven't tasted the thrill of pointing a mountain bike downhill in anger.

what were we talking about again?

I was going to say cheese before I saw all the wine comments. Seems like it could be cheese and wine that we are talking about.

I only use Strava for one purpose and that is to keep track of my rides for service intervals. I like to know stats on hours ridden between services so that I can keep the bike in top shape for those parts you can't visually inspect such as suspension etc. Then I get a personal kick on seeing how much elevation gain I managed in a year. The rest is not really important enough for me to want to have the paid version.

Same here. My Garmin account is linked with my strava which is then linked to Pro bike Garage which is a cool little app that helps me keep track of km on all my stuff and service intervals. Can't remember the last time I actually opened Strava.

Meh. I guess the choice will come down to resale value or n+1 then... Either replace damper and flog the old one when it's repaired, or replace fork. Then you can either flog the old fork or keep it and start looking for a new frame to put it on when it's fixed...

    Haha! All these options!

Yeah, I could fit that seal for you for not much more than a standard rebuild.

Shipping would probably kill it for you though.

How long till you're back for a visit?

Only back in December again. I wanted to bring the fork with last December but there was not space in the luggage.

I’d rather go for a 36 than the new Lyrik

Eish. Fox here is a mission to get service kits for. Mind you everything here is a mission. I can’t even find an f-ing bath plug replacement. Maybe just the new damper then and be done. It is not like I’m going balls to the walls anyway.

You decide. Theres a used charger 2.1 damper floating around on the hub i think for around 4.5k. Thing is, you wont be able to sell the stuffed fork for anything really if you wanted to buy new and recoup some costs.  I sold a rc2 lyrik ultimate a few weeks ago for not much more than the price of a damper….and that fork is mint, so mint in fact, i miss it over my new zeb which im still figuring out. If your bike is 160mm max, get the lyrik if you decide to go new. The zeb is nice and all…but its so progressive and stiff it’d overkill for most…unless you need 170+

My Lyrik is 170. The damper is the damper from the Ultimate, thats the 2.1 hey? I have heard that the Lyrik Ultimate is super lekker.
Suppose it is settled then cause out of the box my fork felt hard and I could never get it quite right. Will try the new damper then and see how that feels.
for what it is worth the damper is around B$ 500 and the new Lyrik is B$ 930 the Zeb is B$ 1300 so MAYBE I should consider the new Lyrik?

Its likely a 2K service which will include doing the rest of the fork aswell.

I'd much rather opt for that than a new fork but hey ....N+1

I hear you. The bike shops where I’m at atm are nothing compared to the ones at home. They ordered me the service kit and when they wanted to do the service they said the thing is stuffed. It was leaking oil at that adjuster knob thing (sorry not sure what it is called).
So with the lack of skills/knowledge the options I mentioned is all I have.

  14. Hi everyone.
The Damper on my 2019 Lyrik has blown.
Now do I just upgrade the damper or is the new Lyrik worth it? Should I look at the Zeb? Is it a lot stiffer? I'm more of a weekend warrior with poor line choice ability if that describes my riding or helps with suggestions.
    Thanks!

If I had a dollar (no not a ZA rondt) for everytime I've heard 'you must be mad the amount of riding you do alone, it's not safe' .... My wife says I don't play well with others and that's why I prefer it 😝

I'm well aware of the risks and I do try to be as safe as possible knowing that's no guarantee.

I know I'm not the only one since here and there I do see other riders out on their own.

My question is are there other hubbers that ride alone most of the time despite the danger?

I do. Mostly anyway. My time to clear my head not chit chat. However I do enjoy a session with friends every now and then.

I used a few shops before but after using Jaco from SGB Service Centre I never used another person/place before. Probably used him for 30+ jobs/services on forks and shocks. He does amazing work and he is a super honest person as well, which goes a long way. Going to drop 3 more forks off this week 😂. He is based in Roodepoort. @Jakes 001

Plus one! My shock has been sooooo good after he took care of it. Check out his FB. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084010286461

Do you use "glasses" of "motocycle goggles" ?

For goggles ... maybe look at the options in the swimming division at your sportshop.

I use Leat goggles. I did a quick search yesterday and Fox has some nice youth stuff but will look for some cheaper options.
