  1. I wonder if Sram would be interested in bringing Stages in-house and integrating into a new line. The electrical components are coming in leaps and bounds. LOOK have invested as they see the Chinese coming hard from a price point, so it’s will be a price war with established companies versus new kids. South Africa is a small market so tend to have limited supply and demand, so we do get milked but online has reshaped the consumers shopping habits. I see the LBS taking hard knocks to keep up with tech trends.

Welllll .... MOST have been saying this.  There are the odd Hubber hell bent on telling us that the PREDICTIONS show a growing market, and that it is all good and well.

Back in the real world ...

    1. Only buy new if you really have to replace at this point in time

    2. DO YOUR HOMEWORK !!!  Trek's local special is a JOKE compared to what they are doing overseas !  They are still milking us !!!  Okay, at least they are one of the first brands to embark on big specials in SA.  Some other brands are doing two-for-one specials in Europe, but hardly any discount here ....

    3. As much as some Hubbers gets their knickers in a twist about "low balling" ..... the secondhand market is going to adjust as the real specials start on new bikes.

    4. The more immediate issue .... it is getting stupidly difficult to get hold of some basic spares.

    5. The closure of family shops such as Cyclosport is a vivid image of the REAL state of this industry.

I wouldn’t touch TREK!ever.  They dropped the moral ball with the Greg Lemond saga! And acting disgracefully, I personally believe karma is on its way! Plus that brand is linked to the biggest cycling fraud to ever hit our sport! It has zero value in my eyes. Cycling will carry on regardless, hopefully Trekless.

The new challenges ahead is backup and parts, as more riders decide to have a forever bike!

  3. Well Kona Bicycles, had to pack up their stand and leave before the expo was gong to open at Sea Otter! They were meant to launch new Gravel Bike. Over at Scott,Police had to be called in as a certain staff member refused to go! Then CC in the US is having a 30% online clear out, also rumbles that they will shutdown. The bike industry is slowly melting from irregular stock acquirements during covid and buy more so you get your order processed antics. Here in the middle ls the consumer. Dazed and confused as we witness our sport became even more elitist as prices surge higher and higher. When a good tire costs over 1K, what’s in store for us all?

  4. Pog, “I told ya, I can beat a car” is just in the form of his live. I hope he keeps some Matches for the Giro. Them Dolomites is no joke, easy to empty the tank and ride the TDF wounded.

Im not sure how it got to this point but my friend brought me his bike and said the back brake wasnt working at all. I quickly realised the rotor wasnt spinning with the wheel, upon closer inspection I saw that there were no bolts. I looked more and saw the 1 hole had been ripped open. I was just wondering if I get bolts and use 5 if it will work well and not cause any damage.

What size is the rotor? The bigger the size, will of course affect the stress levels on hub etc. Is it not possible to have the hole rethreaded at some stage?

  6. I expect more lbs to close if we all start running towards the click and buy culture of these unknown brands Not sure of actual back up with those NV luvU bars! 😂😂😂😂 Chinese are allergic to IP! No wonder the courts are full of patent overlaps. Every dollar they win, your contribution goes to cheap labour and world domination! You think about that on your next long long ride.

  7. Your future stars…. Ladies and gentlemen…..👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

All waiting for the next chance to step up to Pro! We’d be fools if we think the current crop of guys race clean! When records are falling everywhere… insane 80km solo breakaways etc etc… need I  say more?

Interesting development from Trek with a varia alternative

Actually,  a few have their own version, but I see they not available locally. Garmin is milking the market.

Just another thing to consider. Market it as a fun ride, thus saving on timing costs, having a timing company is somewhat expensive as mentioned and also saving costs associated with CSA like one day race fees. Going the formal route is quite expensive as some members mentioned like safety plans, timing, medical etc. You can make your own race numbers with manual timing (stopwatch for start and people finish note number and time. Although it can be made as a fun ride as mentioned medical assistance is a must and there is no workaround.

    Good Luck

Yeah stay away from CSA, freakin waste of time…. They can suck the sealant from a bad puncture!

  10. If there is no budget, and you can splash, checkout UK London builder called Howler! Frames are around 2000quid, but these are super bespoke builds that use good tubing. With todays technology on steel and high grade frame building, there is no bad steel, most use a basic 4130 cro moly steel (Reynolds 520) as an example. Steel can be recycled, carbon is a landfill killer and the process to actually make carbon is way off any environmental scale.

First problem is actually to just to get hold of someone to communicate with regarding the issue

Lookout for a posted notice on the front door! There will be a contact person who is handling the affairs on behalf of. So just keep your eyes open. I wish you the best, it’s tough times we life in. That’s why we should enjoy our bikes and support your LBS!

spitballing, but surely a bike in for service does not belong to the lbs. You'd just need to prove it with a service booking to the sheriff which might not be so quick.

You clearly haven’t tasted the Sheriffs…. 😂😂😂 It will take a while to have goods released. It’s a whole mission. I got the t-shirt dude.

  13. Finally a reality check.. the guy scored 8 uci points last year, a freakin joke at pro level. Unfortunately at his new team they have zero tolerance for any form of doping! Yeah draining the teams budget for zero ROI, but I never was a Froomy!😂😂😂
