  1. Been riding for 26 years and got hooked on BMC 8 years ago with my road bike, I have since bought 3 mountain bikes, in 2013 I bought the 26" Fourstroke FS02, (after cracking an old Scott frame) This bike served my very well and I then followed the trend and bought the 29" Fourstroke FS02, great bike but within 3 months the frame cracked on the main joint between the rear triangle and main frame. I purchased the bike from BMC in Rosebank, and took it back to complain and wanted a replacement, at this stage BMC was going through a transition with the local agent and BMC Switzerland, they had decided to move directly into the South African market, this did delay the replacement of my frame, and BMC Rosebank gave me a lone frame in the mean time for three months. In the end I was presented with a 2015 Fourstroke FS01 full carbon frame, and have been very happy with the bike. Kudos to BMC and BMC Rosebank.
  2. Ha ha ha eina, got a stunning shimmano tattoo at the bottleneck stop before the RedBull water point - accidentally touched my rear red hot disc, kept me alert for the rest of the day.
  3. Very interesting route except the tunnel could have have more lighting, that was very dangerous in there, also saw some bad accidents in the water drains, that green slim was like ice, saw two guys hurt very badly. Bottlenecks were expected with all those riders and added about an hour to the ride if you started further back. A water point at the end was non existent - boo to the organizers , not like you didn't have the cash to arrange this.
  4. Done it a few times and love it, the routes can be confusing but it all part of the fun, we enjoy the parking, toilets and restaurant after the ride. Bit far to do this each weekend though coming from Vereeniging but hey it makes a change. Thanks Modders.
  5. I prefer the all in one stem and bar system, carbon.
  6. It was a Deda stem on a Dogma frame, he was standing on the peddles at the time, went down real hard. Yes torque wrench is required.
  7. My riding partner was chasing me down in a sprint when his stem bolts failed catastrophically at 53km/h and down he went on the tar, broken rib, collar bone and stitches in his elbow and shin, and much pain. Make sure you stick to the manufactures recommendations on the nm torque settings for these critical bolts. They range from 4 to 8 nm depending on the manufacturer specifications.

    Eina

Wow "!!!!!! Give me a brake"
  9. Can't believe how some people ride so much, see the August challenge wow the leader has done some serious km this month.
  10. Once your body has got used to exercise without huge amounts of carbs you will be amazed how for you can ride, I have done 4 hour rides every weekend on low carb protein shakes. And feel fantastic. Oh with a coffee stop in between. But I do believe this eating plan has been the best thing I have ever done as far as being more healthy.
  11. Read the Tim Noaks diet it's very good and introduces you to the New Atkins diet which I started 19 months ago and have never looked back, I am 53 years old and ride with youngsters of 35 and still hold on , the eating plan is brilliant and easy to follow, I lost 14 kg and have tons of energy now, remember to leave out sugar, bread, potatoes and most carbs, it really works.
  12. Don't repair it, buy a new rim, it's not worth it unless you have a brilliant medical aid!
  13. Any one doing this race. Will ride from Three Rivers do the race and ride home.
