If you are like me, just knowing the "crack" is there will drive me nutz...
Exactly!!! I am in the process of sorting it out
Thanks for all the advice so far guys. I will definitely take it to the shop as soon as I have some free time. I only realised this late yesterday afternoon after washing the bike, and I wanted to confirm if my suspicions are correct or not. Will let you guys know how this turns out
With regards to the seatpost, only 7cm of the seatpost must be in the frame according to the manual (2013 carbon medium frame). That is past the max insert on the seatpost though (you can see the max line out of the frame)
Mine has quite a bit left so the max line is still in the frame. That is definitely not what caused the issue here
Is your seatpost the correct size for the seatpost on the frame?
Not 100% sure what you are asking but yes it is the correct diameter seatpost for the frame. It as a 400mm post and it is definitely not at its maximum extension.
2012 model. I only tighten it with a torque wrench so its definitely not over torqued. I have taken it out quite a few times to clean etc but like I said its always been tightened to the correct torque setting
Carbon frame. Nope didnt have a fall with it. Will monitor it for now and see if it gets worse before I take it to the shop.
When and where is number pickup?
Anyone looking for a Marathon entry???

I would guess that their decision had something to do with this...

What is high maintenance? What do they need done regularly?
With the Shimano's you know what you get. Awesome stopping power with minimal attention needed. I bled my XT's once a year and replaced the brake pads when it was necessary and that was it. No issues with caliper alignment or pad alignment when removing the wheels etc.
With the Formulas I have found the modulation to be a lot better than the Shimano's. You decide how much brake you want to apply. I lock out my rear wheel a lot less since switching to the formulas. What does irritate me is that I have to re-align the caliper and pads almost weekly. If I take out the wheels when washing the bike the alignment is all out again. I haven't had them long enough for the need to bleed them so I cannot comment on that.
So yes I enjoy the Formula's more but they require a lot more time and attention than the shimano's. If you don't like fiddling with your bike after almost every ride get the Shimano's...
Edit: Spelling
I had XT on my previous bike and now ride with Formula R1s on my new bike. Yes they are lighter and more consistent but they require a lot more maintenance than shimano. The XT/SLX are a great package in my opinion
Yip that is what I heard as well. Apparently they want to do a mini stage race where you will be able to do the Marathon on the Saturday and the Ultra on the Sunday...
Should I get concerned? Cracked frame?

Seatpost is at 11cm on a large frame so that is fine as well
