  1. Correct perhaps I should have been clearer, I have other bikes with internal routing with no problem but it's the headset routing I'm wary of ...
  2. Observing the trend towards internal cable routing I've been wondering (another build COULD be happening 😜 ) ... For road bikes where there's way less maintenance it makes sense to me and does look 'cool' but I'm wondering on MTB's, where it also looks neat and cool, if you do your own maintenance like many of us, here at least, do ... does it make sense or is it more of a PITA? Would appreciate any thoughts .... articles like this of course don't help 😕 https://escapecollective.cc/anger-management-headset-cable-routing-for-mountain-bikes-is-stupid/
  3. Not because it's not your size but because certain style fundis say it's not 'cool' 😜
  4. So my take on it ... not that anyone should take heed but Hey we've sold most people on 1x so now what? Ah ok how about a 'cooler' 2x that'll get them going and get us more sales 😎 If you're on 2x and want something innovative I reckon go for it ... if you're on 1x and you need it you probably made a mistake Lastly use it on a singlespeed? What's wrong with you people 😕
  5. @TyronLab as the ex 'POTUS' would have said "YES YOU CAN" 😎
  6. Got a strange look from some riders today ... "Why those fat tyres on THAT bike?" "Because I can" But then again it's just what I do 😜 Another one of those deep blue sky Highveld days, fitting for when I'm feeling 'onward and upward' 🫣😁
  7. Mon Dieu 😮 According to the 'neo' hub experts and anoraks ANYTHING SRAM is the best thing since sliced bread!
  8. I must agree, I have had 2 different bikes with the same setup and on one it worked without an extender and on the other .... let's just say I almost drove myself to drink I mean it must work its the same components! Anyway added an extender after much f'ing and blinding and it worked fine. Definitely something different between them frames
  9. Knew that, that's why I laughed at your post 😉 Comment was more intended for some locals here in my 'hood ... the more than 1 is a race group
  10. Contrary to popular belief every ride does not need to be a half wheeling, puke inducing, flat out endurance session .... sometimes just a spin in the neighbourhood is also OK 😜
  11. Thanks gents! Been a long road, tough to always listen to the doc's but has been well worth it ... definitely have a different outlook on riding now!
  12. Almost into 'fat bike' territory but rather comfortable .... I'm sure @Pikey will be crying 'fat' tears into his Earl Grey tea this morning 😜 Some really good news on the medical front this week, so now the return to normal can really start... been riding most of the time, now can just ride without worrying all the time and can go further 😁
  13. I don't know what to say really, first you need to decide what it is you going to ride is it technical or gravel? For what you describe now (today) just keep the Bianchi ... In my humble opinion that is
  14. No not even then.... just me probably 😜
  15. Must be cool to be at such a high level and be able to look down on and skoff at the achievements of other weekend warriors and housewives As usual don't mind me I'm just old and grumpy 🤪
  16. A chap I know raced one of those Lauf forks in XC races 2 or 3 times ... he said there's a reason it's called 'lauf', run in German cause you'll be doing a lot of that His comments were that they are flexy, wander all over the place and that for today's XC courses not enough travel. As mentioned over 'gravel' type courses he said they are bloody fantastic and the lightness is flippin amazing I'd love to have a go on one ........ for my type of riding it'd be perfect 😎
  17. Nah Dion 😜, the 'couch cool kids' know better mate!
  18. To my mind though many of those 'speculating' her do so purporting it to be fact .... in their minds at least 😜
  19. The last ride with my boet before they went back yesterday. Been a privileged 3 weeks of riding with him almost every day! He specifically wanted it to be a '3 speed' ride... I invited another singlespeed fan who was an ex 'PPL pilot' mate of his he hadn't seen in years.
  20. I trust only 3 wheelbuilders that I know and I know a few .... Wyatt is one, another is my ex-SIL the original proprietor of Just Cycles and lastly the Grumpy one! I ride quite a few of my own 'home built' wheels but I wouldn't dare even think about letting someone else ride them, knocking my own teeth out that's one thing 🤪
  21. Yip there's little intelligent life down here mate 😜 Better than 'pink blouse' any day
