  1. There are pros and cons to both. It's a matter of personal choice. I went from a 26" to a 29". At first I found the 29r hard to peddle on the up hills, however I soon became used to the bigger wheels and thoroughly enjoy my ride. I think a 27.5 is a little more agile in tight corners, the 29r rolls better over rocks, stumps etc. Try to ride both before you decide. My wife's friend rides a 279, it has a 27.5 rear wheel and a 29 up front. Quite a nice setup for a lady. T
  2. Great product 2x10 with 16/40t hill kill T
  3. Why not try a warrantee claim, push Giant to replace the frame. T
  4. I've tried to source Enduro Max bearings from three bicycle shops in Durban. Regrettably not one of the three have come back to me with a price nor availability. I will be trying the fourth tomorrow. It would have been much easier if I could have just ordered what I need online. T
  5. I also had to pay for my Silverback rebuild when the frame was replaced under warrantee. LBS charged R400.00 which included new cables and a headset bearing.
  6. A mate of mine bought himself a Merida Big 9 XT Edition and his wife a silverback 279 on Wednesday last week. One ride at Giba on Thursday, both bikes stolen from his garage on Thursday night. These days it's not if the steal, it's when they steal my bike. The man is devastated. t
  7. I've got a set of crossrides on my Trance, no complaints. Hope crest/arch from CWC is a good dead. T
  8. I've got a set lying at Hattons in Pietermaritzburg, I'll call Navesh if you want them. They are flat on one side and cleat on the other. Ryder pedals. I can get them to Umzinto, you can collect them there. Offer stands if they haven't been sold in the meantime. T
  9. Torque your chainring bolts and grease the threads on the pedals where they screw into the cranks. T
  10. It's like arriving at a gun fight with a knife!! I'm glad you made it home unscathed. T
  11. I'm in for a sting, mates wife was attacked earlier this year. Be careful when going into the bushes as these guys set trip wires so if you try to chase them, you'll fall and they then beat the cr@p out of you. Best to go in a group with a few lead pills. T
  12. As a recreational rider I always stop to help. I've helped riders that are so frustrated they forget what's the time of day. I believe what you sow you reap, hopefully someone will help me someday. If I was running for podium I wouldn't stop, after all its a race. T
  13. The guys from Good2Go are riding the Sani2C. Booked my bike for the 19th. T
  14. My 2x10 setup on my silverback frame is the same as yours, 2 spacers on the drive side and one on the non drive side. T
  15. Just rebuilt my Silverback Mercury with 2 x 10 XT group set, XT wheels, XT brakes, shifters and went tubeless. Big improvement overall, shifting is smoother, XT brakes with ice-tech nice quiet stopping and tubeless allows lower tyre pressure. T
