  1. I for one wouldn't buy one unless it's high quality. The clamp and clamping arrangement on the low quality one I bought from my LBS is useless. The plastic is too hard and the way in which the clamp tightens is flimsy. If you don't get it 100% correct it makes depressions in the top tube or the bike just drops off onto the floor. I only use mine to wash my bike. The one I have is tork craft!! Absolutely useless for its intended use.
  2. I'd rather pay a premium to use DHL than dealing with the SAPO. All of my past orders via DHL, 3-4 days max.
  3. I also remove the chain and clean it in an ultrasonic cleaning bath. Once clean leave it in a jar of chain lube for an hour or so and then I hang it up to dry. For the rest of the bike, I use bike wash and a soft brush. Every now and then I remove the buildup on the chainring and rear cassette with paraffin. Sometimes a pressure cleaner on they tyres, but on the whole I like to stay away from high pressure cleaning. Wine cork in the underside of the steering tube to keep the muck out.
  4. Give Janos or Naas a call, it's a possibility they never received your email or it was nuked. Janos has always gone out of his way with my orders. He has sent me stuff overnight at no cost to me when an order has gone astray. They have even upgraded parts at no cost due to stock shortages.
  5. Janos does it again! Ordered a tyre booster just after 2pm yesterday, delivered to my door in Durban before noon today, exceptional service well done Evobikes.
  6. bike-discount doesn't use DHL, so your goodies end up with the SAPO. My last order from them took over two months to arrive in Durban.
  7. Exactly what I paid on my Urge, 25% duty + 14%Vat + some factor of around 1.5% on the total + DHL clearance fee.
  8. We rode a 39km at rocky bay today and they have awesome showers that you are free to use when you get back. Regrettably most places don't.
  9. I'm 114 and been on a Pyga One Ten ( the aluminum one ) for just over two years without any issues. A Pike up front and a bullet proof wheel set and bobs your uncle. I plan to go carbon at the end of the year Pyga or Santa Cruz.
  10. Colour, I dislike red and yellow... Oh, and gold...
  11. There are three words that come to mind " lack of maintenance" how on earth do pedals end up getting stuck if you are servicing your bike? I remove mine at least every three months, strip and re-grease. Apply a little copper slip on the threads when you eventually get to fit new pedals.
  12. YT have a distributor in the cape, you can buy directly from them at an awesome price. http://www.goodtimes-mtb.co.za/
  13. Pyga has a shop in Howick, you can even chat to Patrick when he is there. They sell directly to the public from their store so I guess we are lucky. YT also sells online.
  14. Agreeably so; I have a fixed deposit equal to 3 months salary for this.I use my fixed deposit to negotiate preferential interest rates.
  15. ABSA Private Bank, preferential rates
  16. I bought everything I own, except my house and my Land Cruiser on my credit card. On an average interest rate of 11% over the past few years it's much better than most financial houses can offer. When I buy something on my cc I take it over 60 months so the repayments are low and then I inject as much cash into the outstanding amount as I can. On a bad month I just pay the minimum amount required. The financial gurus will most probably shoot me down, but this has worked for me over the years. At the moment I have no outstanding debt; that Santa Cruz I have my eye on is getting closer.
  17. eNanda Adventure Park at Inanda Dam The GO!Durban Cycle Academy provides an environment for local cycling training which also aims to bring young people together to meet, play and engage with each other using the sport of cycling as the common focus, whether it be for recreational, commuting or sporting purposes.
  18. You a not alone, my wife couldn't understand why I wanted a Pike front end and hope hubs...
  19. Nothing like a happy ending, well done Cycle Tech. I hate it when I take my bike to a LBS and they overlook the obvious.
  20. Product backup and Customer Service, when that dies, my loyalty dies with it. I don't mind paying for the above...
  21. RIP fellow cyclist, condolences to the family...
  22. A group of mates and I rode from the Wild Coast Sun to Mtentu, it's about 27km along the beach with a short section inland. We rode into a gale force head wind and it took us around 7hours to reach Mtentu. Our bikes took strain as the wind was picking up the beach sand and packing it onto any wet or greased part of the bike. There were a few river crossings, but nothing unmanageable at the time. Take enough water and food, there is nothing along the way. The following day we rode up to the shipwreck, we had to carry our bikes most of the way as the rocks and sand weren't rideable. I would do it again on a rental,my Pyga won't see the beach again.
  23. I would look at a YT, they have some awesome deals on smalls
