  1. I have the following combination, cost around R7000.00 to custom build. 32H Spank Oozy hoops DT Swiss spokes Hope Pro4 Hubs straight pull. Magic Mary Tyres I'm just shy of 110kgs with gear and ride mostly downhill trails so I punish them. Been on this wheelset for almost a year now with no issues. (Possibly 40 odd good downhill trail runs in a mix of terrain) Before building a custom wheelset I used Mavic Crossrides and I've also not had any issues with them.
  2. Maybe on a rental, but never again on my own bike. A few weeks back we rode our bikes from the Wild Coast Sun along the beach +/- 25km to Mtentu. It cost me stripping the bike down, cleaning everything, replacing rusted bearings/ gear housing and a reassemble. Seven river crossings not good for any bicycle, fine beach sand in everything. Another tick on the bucket list....
  3. I was in the same predicament sometime ago and I wise man told to rather spend a little more now on a mtb with mid level components than a lot of money later once you've realized that an entry level mtb is useless. I'd go for silverback sola 3.
  4. Customs is roughly 15%, no import duties. The ZAR/GBP exchange rate on the day of clearance applies. No vat on overseas DHL. I think DHL charges around R150.00 clearance fee. Contact DHL express as soon as you have a waybill number so that they can send you an invoice to pay the vat, clearance etc. T
  5. Another thumbs up to Janos, ordered a saddle on Monday morning, delivered today. Thanks for providing exceptional service.
  6. In the past I always used Express Mail International, SAPO used to deliver at my front door, 3 to 4 days max. I haven't seen this option for some time now, so it's DHL for now. I'd rather pay a bit more and get my goodies in a few days.
  7. If they weren't offered the opportunity to check the torque on the seat post clamp before disassemble it's pure speculation. I would go over their head to spez global. I think you have good reason to be upset, after all you bought a well known brand that is supposed to back their product.
  8. Agreeable so, but you would at least expect it to be fit for purpose coming from a bicycle shop.
  9. I'm glad you survived the ordeal to tell the story. Blatant disregard for the law is fast becoming the norm. I hope you feel better soon. T
  10. I'd say air forks... Giant, Silverback and Merida are all good makes. Titan entry level bikes aren't that bad, however I'd rather go for one of the above. T
  11. I am using the helmet and it's by far the nicest helmet I've owned. Bought from CRC around R2K for helmet, shipping and import duties/ vat. T
  12. Urge Endur-O-Matic 2 Helmet Fits like a "glove" um helmet.... No "mushroom" effect.
  13. I've got an 1000 Edge and find the unit is a little too big when riding technical sections. I think one of the smaller Garmin units would be more suited for the Duzi2c.
  14. If you are the first owner and it's still covered by Giants Lifetime Warranty make it Giants problem to decide if it's structural or just a paint crack. If not take it to someone who can do an ultrasonic test on it for you and then you'll know for sure. T
  15. I ordered a couple of these from Probolt. Titanium available in a few colours.
  16. 6.5mm should be fine for Presta. I've never measured the inside hole.
  17. I'm not too sure of the diameter of the valve hole; you may need a reducer from a Schrader valve (8 mm) to Presta (6mm).
  18. I've read this with profound sadness, I have no words to condone your loss. My wife is my life partner, best friend and cycling buddy and I can't imagine how I would feel if something as tragic as your loss happened to us. Sorry that we couldn't be there in support of your loss. T
  19. My wife's XT 2x10 has a 104mm BCD and my XT 1x11 has a 96mm BCD. From an appearance point of view, the 10 speed crank is black and the 11 speed is grayish. A lot of chainrings are 10/11 speed comparable
  20. Slicks are a good idea, just have fun and enjoy the ride.
  21. I'd go for a Pike or Yari, possibly a Revelation. I went from a Revelation to a Pike on my Pyga and they are worlds apart. T
  22. That's one of the things I love about my Pyga. Whenever I need a part, I pop in to Pyga and Patrick pulls a new part out from under the counter. Waited over a month for a linkage for my Trance...
  23. I'm in Howick next week Thursday, I can pop into the Pyga shop and see if they have one lying around. I've seen a few parted out frames there so maybe there is a used one that I can broker a deal on. T
  24. Are you looking for the top or bottom section, and what frame size? T
  25. 190 x 51 may work, hopefully someone has tried? T
