  1. The rear shock is 184x44. A 200x57 doesn't work. (I've tried it) The chainstay pushes up against the frame. T
  2. Paid around R22k for my Lapierre Edge 327+ in December. http://www.lapierre-bikes.co.uk/gamme/2017/mtb/sport/edge-327 The quality is remarkable. Just waiting for my 140mm Pike to arrive.
  3. I'm so fed up with the SAPO I only use DHL Express. Last purchase from CRC was on a Thursday, delivered to my door on Tuesday morning. I'm quite happy to pay the extra cost...
  4. Lucrative business, who makes that type of money in under 10 minutes? T
  5. I have only ever had good service from Pyga. Replacement parts are readily available and reasonably priced. Patrick and his team are great and continually go the extra mile. Welcome to the Pyga family.
  6. RIP Andrew Condolences to the family...
  7. Some sellers don't want to wait for a reasonable cash offer so their stuff is priced to go. If you are lucky enough to pick up one of their bargains, good for you... If I like it, I buy it, if not I leave it for the next guy. One of the well known resellers made me a ridiculous offer on a bike I had for sale, I just laughed and said move along, if I was hard up for the cash I may have let it go. The willing buyer/seller rule applies. Depending on circumstances items are not always sold for what the are worth.
  8. Sad, sad news.... Strength to his Wife and children.
  9. Last time I bought from Jenson USA they used DHL Express, took around three working days to arrive at my door, so the first week in Feb is doable. Email them and find out how they intend shipping to SA. If the are using DHL Express get in contact with them as soon as you have the waybill number so that they can sort out the import paperwork beforehand and you can pay the VAT and fee to expedite delivery.

  11. Garage, under the watchful eye of my two dogs
  12. I recently ordered a Garmin Edge 1000 from Evans, the processing was quick and efficient. I paid on Thursday and the item was delivered using DHL Express on Tuesday. Shipping was free. Check out there shipping policy on bulky items as I don't think there is free delivery.
  13. Check KTM's website http://www.ktm-bikes.co.za/ they had a clearance sale in December.
  14. I recently went from 2x10 to 1x11 and I like it. 30T up front and an 11/46 on the rear. I seldom use the 46 but it's there if I need it. It's a nice spread of gears and I find myself riding up inclines where I previously pushed. Speed on the flats is around 45kmh. For my style of riding I don't need to go faster. BTW I have a new 32T raceface 104 BCD ( Red) chainring looking for a new home, I will accept any reasonable offer.
  15. Arguably helmets don't save lives, however in the event of an accident they do in most cases minimize head injuries that could result in fatality due to a serious head injury. I believe a good quality helmet is an investment in your future and not a waste of money as perceived by some. In my superbike days I would always laugh at my mates who were willing to spend 150k on a bike and then reluctantly fork out R700.00 on a cheap helmet; then on top of that they would ride with flip flops. I've seen too many fallen rides with serious head injuries to take a chance.
  16. Yip you only need to smash your head once to realize the importance of wearing a helmet. Hopefully it won't be a lesson learnt too late. There should be no compromise when it gets to safety.
  17. I ride 32 hole Hope Pro4 hubs, laced 3x with DT Swiss spokes onto Spank Oozy Trail 295 Bead-Bite rims and I'm super happy with my wheelset. I weigh 110kg and after six months they are still holding up and I hammer trails every weekend.
  18. It also didn't put me off when I bought mine, Patrick is genuine and I believe he will stand behind the Pyga Brand. Even the most expensive cars have manufacturing defects. T
  19. It's worth what someone will pay for it. Half the value when new is a reasonable starting point for a bike a few years old with normal wear and tear. +10% if the bike is in pristine/new condition. -10% if it needs some maintenance. The hype around cracked OneTen frames is going to affect what someone is willing to pay.
  20. I'm running M8000 1 x 11 XT, 30T upfront and 11-46 cassette. I only use the 46 on long steep climbs. I like the 1 x 11 more than the 2 x 10 I had before.
  21. I saw an XTR crank arm that snapped just above where it bolts onto the shaft. Fairly new, under 6 months old, lady rider. I couldn't believe how thin the side walls of the casting was obviously to save on weight. Could result in a nasty injury if peddling hard.
