Is ASG still organising this race? The race entry fee that they wanted to charge last year (had the race taken place) was insane.

So kremetart cancelled now...no title sponsor. Seems to be a trend this year.....first argus then letape and now kremetart..

Just the lack of communication is adding fuel to fire from the organisers side. Not even an apology. The amount of money and time wasted and organisers (both local and abroad) just expect us to carry on with life. So I just read that ASG has taken over the organisation of Kremetart. What is upsetting is that the entries this year (not sure if because ASG has taken it over) but has increased from R550 (last year's entry fee) to R950 this year!!! That is quite a steep jump (did they just jump on the band wagon because LeTape / Maluti is in that range?

Three cheers to everyone involved in organizing the Kremetart - still one of the few very good races around with great atmosphere and good organisation - well worth the trip getting up there. A pity to see a drop in numbers attending. Was hesitant with the new start and finish area - but actually a great venue (just the short hill towards the finish line now makes it feel like an Mt Everest with tired legs after 175km).Was a bit miffed that one needed a licence now to race in the various age categories for this race - but it still worked out well in the 'Comrades' group - there was a good variety of talent so there was a variety of very fast, fast and kind of fast groups to attach one self to at each stage.Awesome weather at the start - finally no arm or leg warmers needed (pity about Sunday's rain, but hope the MTB still had a good ride)Was sad to see no Jungle Oats energy bars on offer this year after each stage and that on Stage 1 the truck with the bottled water only came as the 2nd Stage was starting and on Stage 2 lunch stop, i just manged to grab the last bottled water on offer (so not sure why water was under catered for this year), but thankfully the stop at Stage 3 had plentyBut otherwise was well fed on each stage, the beef soup is to die for, the pancakes makes the last 1km climb on stage 3 well worth it and the potjiekos was awesome - thanks to all the chefs.Thanks to all the locals lining up the finish area making us all feel like heroes at the end - the cheers, support and smiles... but also thanks to all the crew and paramedics and road rangers....Really enjoyed the comrade with all the cyclist.. even driving back home yesterday with a stop at the petrol stations, there was still smiles and chatting between cyclist ... a feeling we have conquered and survived!!

Have not done this race in years and opted to do D2D this year as I missed doing the Race for Victory as i was away but never again... unless this race changes: R350 is pretty steep for what you actually get and still they wanted R10 for parking (which no one did eventually ask for when we left - but we had no intentions of paying this) Parking is horrible - cars and bikes were all dirty from the red dust even before we started racing Toilets were in the most disgusting state - saw a few cyclist retching from the smell and the conditions Not enough water tables or water sachets available for such a hot day along the route Getting to the finish line and making us go through the red dusty sand roads to get to the medals and coke table (no water!) It was a challenging route but really quite dangerous as you have all the high performance cars and bikers all out having their weekend runs. A few of our friends in the chasing VC group were taken on the wrong route by the Commissaire so ended up doing 127kms instead of 110 - this messed up the riders groups placings and time. Would not recommend the race to inexperienced riders, the downhills can be a bit dangerous if one is not confident, especially going down Hekpoort with the speedbumps at high speeds. It was a challenging route with enough climbs and wind to keep one entertained but definitely this is one race I will let pass in future if they continue with the current formula.

The Souff is not that rough ... Anyone from anywhere is welcome to join.. just pitch up. Everyone usually parks in front of the Mugg and Bean so you can't miss us. For the past several months a group of guys and ladies of JNB South have been getting together to ride their single speed / fixies on the last Sunday of each month.The idea is to get everybody out on single speeds / fixies for a social ride in the south of JHB. All types of bicycles are welcome ie. Road, MTB, Fat Bikes.... but if you have a single speed..........ride the damn thing! Its a nice social chilled ride of between 30-40kms with a stop in the middle for coffee.... and at the end... coffee.... We meet at the Mugg & Bean at the Panorama Shopping Centre, Southern Klipriviersberg Road, Mulbarton. For this month, the date is 29th March to ride by 07:00. Lets ride them during the day!! So we have been organizing get togethers every last Sunday of every Month and everyone has been loving it so we decided lets get the word out...!!! This happens the last Sunday of EVERY MONTH at 07h00. The meeting venue is at the Mugg & Bean at the Panorama shopping Centre, Southern Klipriviersberg Road, Mulbarton. The idea is to get everybody out on their single speeds or fixies for a social ride in the south of JNB (we go through Brackenhurst, Alberton, back to Mulbarton and average around 25kph (approx. 30-40km). If you don't own a single speed/fixie - its ok!!! we not excluding anyone, still come join us with whatever bike you have, MTB, road, fat bike...... its purely a fun ride so families, young and old are all welcome and then enjoy a breakfast at the Mugg and Bean afterwards. Hi I cycled from JNB to CPT in 2013 - what further info are you looking for: From JNB we went via: Klerksdorp Christiana Kimberley Britstown Beaufortwest Oudsthoorn Barrydale Hermanus Cape Town (obviously you would do this in reverse) Our longest day was 273km and our shortest day 180km over a 9 day period

Thanks to all the race organisers... what an awesome ride and so well organised. Best part is to reach the finish and be greeted by all these people giving out not just water/coke but ice cream, milkshakes, ice tea and all other drinks... goodness, my pockets were loaded!!! Only had one bad experience on the road and that was that one of the marshals on his bike in trying to force the cyclist to stay on the left of the lane just stopped dead on the white centre line with his bike... please don't do this... I understand that you are trying to ensure our safety but we were travelling at an average of over 35kph and the bunches are big and I can't see what is in front of me besides cyclist and i was just slightly on the white line and me and my buddies only saw you at the last minute when you just stopped your bike in front of us, so we could have ploughed into you .... we narrowly missed hitting you by inches as we had to swerve .. thankfully we did not bring any cyclist on the left down. Apparently this particular marshal did this several times from what other cyclist told me .... but otherwise thanks everyone for a great time and to the last 3 Choc Cow ladies that crossed the line just after 3pm... you guys are heroes!!!! glad we could be there to welcome you home even when everyone had left already! and to all the paramedics and marshals that followed you right to the line ... thumbs up

Hi All I am looking at importing a set of rims from Germany. what kind of fees can I expect to pay once it lands in South Africa so I can determine whether its worthwhile purchasing (not that I have choice as SA does not stock what I am looking for). Just don't want to end up with a shock and end up paying extra thousand etc. for import duty, SARS, etc

Rolling through storm water drains and venturing into the heart of darkness through a network of tunnels, one nearly a kilometre in length! Under highway bridges and flying over main roads with custom built scaffolding bridges and ramping into vast expanses you never knew existed this course will really show you what Johannesburg has to offer.
