  1. If you can get that here for 28 pounds it's an absolute steal. For a complete bike you're looking at about R8k all incl. so I also would have thought about R3k. Doesn't matter that it's light, the box is pretty big so you pay volumetric weight anyway and the freight companies and airlines charge you a minimum fee which makes small orders expensive. FedEx and DHL are not cheap at all for these type of shipments.

  2. did a 3h14 today, what happened to the 97KM ?? i was hating life at 100km hahahahah

oh who can i thank for the medal/bottle opener lol...... shocking number pack and not much better medal!!

Glad I'm not the only one who did like 103 km then. Well organised race, I have to say. Didn't everybody get the LED lights with their 'race pack'?

Some woman came down hard, anyone know how she's doing?

  3. If thats the case I hope you gonna take it back and make sure they sort it out! The reason we have such crap service in this country is because too many people complain to each other instead of taking it up with the people responsible. It costs almost the same to service a bike these days as it does a car, the least they can do is check the work is done properly before its released to the customer. Not acceptable.

  4. Firstly, welcome to jo'burg! You can't be all that unfit if you're Riding suikerbos. There are quite a few loops out that side, especially leaving fourways and heading out to the cradle. I'm not sure if you're talking weekends or weekdays but there are rides most days anyway. Rather try riding with a group though, they vary in pace and you'll find one you're comfortable with. There were groups that used to leave the engen garage on main road bryanston 5 am most days but I'm not sure anymore because I haven't done that in a while but Im sure you'll get ample response here that will clarify exact times and places for you. Good luck!

  5. Have e-mailed the club, I'm actually starting to think we should all have to wear numbers linked to a database every time we ride so that people can actually be tracked and held accountable for their actions. Knowing you're pretty much anonymous on the road isn't a good thing in my opinion.

  6. I was in a Cyclelab bunch when a guy behind me decided we were going too slowly downhill so he pulled out into the middle of the street right in front of a speeding car who had to brake like a demon to avoid hitting this guy. He didn't even apologise or try get out of the drivers way, just carried on his merry way. I have no words for the amount of stupidity I see amongst cyclists every time I get on the road. Motorists hate us for a reason so best we don't complain until we all decide to wake the hell up and get our attitudes right. You can't argue with 2 tons of steel. Single file on narrow busy roads and maximum two abreast when the roads and traffic allow for it. It's not rocket science!

If you want to look at something a bit more unique I've just brought in a Moser for myself and they've offered me distribution in SA. I can land you a 2012 Moser 333 full carbon (T700 Toray 3K carbon monocoque) with full Ultegra 6700, Fulcrum R3 wheels. BB30, FSA stem, handlebars, stem, seatpost etc. I can do it at your price, might even be slightly less depending on exchange rates. A 111 would be slightly less even. Bike is also available with Campagnolo or SRAM Red. Anyway let me know if you're interested else good luck with your upgrade.

  8. The Ralieigh is older but has 105 which is better than Tiagra. Are these used or new? If they're used it would obviously depend on the condition. Check out the classifieds here I'm pretty sure you'll find a 10 speed 105 second hand for that money, much better bang for your buck.

  9. Did you have to pay 40% + import duty on the bike or did you bring it in knocked down?

Budgeted for VAT plus import duties of 15% etc. but when I was shopping around for air freight pricing I was asked if I had a EUR1 certificate and I didn't even know what that was? Later on I saw that the factory had issued it on collection and I only had to pay 1.95% duty because of it. Apparently this has to do with a trade agreement between SA and Europe and the supplier just has to sign the declaration that the goods do in fact originate from Europe. Bearing in mind that I did stipulate that it was a complete bike and not parts or spares etc. because I didn't want it sitting in customs so everything was done above board in fact.

  10. Thamks for the positive feedback  , just to answer some of your queries..

    1- its not my driveway

    2- I definitely don't offer a gardening service

3- I got the bike from the Moser factory in Italy, the seatpost clamp was fitted by them but I can find out where they get it from.

4- I haven't weighed it yet but I will post soon.

The reason I was looking for feedback is that I got hold of them to see if they had a distributor here in SA which they didn't so I ordered direct from them and they have asked me if I'm interested in distributing here. The frame and build quaity is definitely there, pricing is obviously the most important consideration and its difficult to compare apples with apples with competing brands. There are 5 carbon ranges, 1 aluminium, 1 aluminium/carbon mix and even a steel replica of the original Leader AX from the 80's with Columbus Genius tubing. The 001 is their top frame which is 100% hand made in Italy and custom built to spec. Available with Shimano, Sram Red or Campagnolo (or frame only), although I must say pricing is actually in favour of fitting Campagnolo.

  11. 2012 Moser 666

  12. Sounds to me like the guys who sent it aren't playing their part because they should be able to track it from their side too and inform you. If they can give you the MAWB number then you should be able to track it down here at least?
