  1. Entries for March were already closed, hence the "sold out" status. IMSA are nowhere near knowing what the status of entries for November is. I' betting a LOT of Europeans and Americans will cancel or defer in the coming months. I expect IMSA to open up some additional entries later in the year, but only once things have settled down and it's clear that the November race will indeed go ahead. We are a long way from there now, or having any kind of stability and certainty in the world....
  2. Just thought I'd respond to this, as its not everyday one gets to say good things about our wonderful SOEs. I purchase online regularly, both local (I love Evobikes) and overseas (primarily Bike24). Unfortunately, I have to buy quite a lot of things overseas as I tend to build my own bikes with specialist / rare / high-end parts that most local online shops don't stock, or do so at 2x the price I can get form overseas after taxes. I must have purchased from Bike24 at least 10x over the last 5 years. Every single parcel from them comes via DHL / SAPO (SAPO handles customs clearance and final delivery on our side) and are always delivered on time or ahead of the 11-13 day (total days, not "business days") advertised by Bike24. In fact, I recently tried the Aramex Global Shipping program (to get past the geo-blocking on Sram and Shimano parts ). I made two orders on the same day - one delivered normal via DHL /SAPO, and the other via Aramex / Germany. I received my SAPO parcel this morning (and would have yesterday had I been in office when they came to deliver). Still waiting for my Aramex one, it should arrive today or tomorrow... Last time I had a parcel via SAPO, the delivery guy even called me ahead of time to check that I would be there to receive the parcel and to get the VAT money ready, which I was hugely impressed by. Anyways, I just wanted to say that, in my experience, SAPO has been great and I never have any hesitation ordering through them, although I suspect they have a special arrangement with DHL... packages from China are a different story altogether... Maybe I've just been lucky, but I think SAPO deserve a lot of credit and their service seems to be getting better over the past few years.
  3. A couple more Classifieds bugs (MS Edge): photos [still] distorted / stretched for me - some photos stretched horizontally, others vertically. When you click on the "click to zoom" on the photos, it brings up the pop up screen but photos don't show - only a black/grey box.
  4. Will do Matt. FYI I like the rest of the classifications - just components are a bit cumbersome.
  5. Yeah, have to say I don't like new classifieds and the whole blurring of the categories. Before, if I wanted to look for e.g. a road chainring, I could just hover over the classifieds tab, drop down menus would pop up and I could select "chainrings" under the road bike / components tab and be looking at relevant items with 1 mouse click... Now I have to go to view all categoies (1 click) -> chainrings (1 click) [brings up a list with dozens of MTB chainrings which are completely irrelevant to me...] then scroll down to find "select disclipline" and click on the "road" filter.... All very cumbersome, but maybe I need to play around with it more. I realise a number of components apply across disciplines, but adding layers to find exactly what you are looking for (when it was so simple before) is not great... Also, not sure if its my browser (MS Edge) but all the classified pictures are "strectched" and distorted.
  6. Agreed, purchased a new frameset Tuesday, arrived Thursday morning (JHB). Xmas come early. I hadn't received a tracking no, so emailed them on Wednesday to ask when it would be shipped, and they replied straight away that it was shipped the day before already! I may be biased but IMO my new Farr Out carbon frame in teal is the best looking gravel bike out there. Just hope their 2020 offerings aren't as nice...
  7. Hi Naas - PANARACER GRAVEL KING 700 x 35C TYRE - BROWN SIDEWALL - pretty please... https://www.evobikes.co.za/tyres/gravel-cyclocross-tyre/panaracer-gravel-king-700-x-35c-tyre-brown-sidewall.html
  8. Last 4 weeks (peak training block for Ironman world champs on 12 Oct, TSS split across S/B/R): Week 1 (02/09): 15h50 / TSS 1193 Week 2 (09/09): 18h58 / TSS 1285 Week 3 (16/09): 19h41 / TSS 1323 Week 4 (23/09): 18h46 / TSS 1353
  9. Can't say, 2013 was my first so missed the "Hurricane Katrina" year. By all accounts that year was still worse, but a gale Westerly and cold with rain. They had to pull some people off the cycle (particularly smaller / lighter women) as they couldn't keep their bikes on the road!
  10. Having done the last 7 full IMs in PE, I can tell you definitively, YES, you are an Ironman. That was brutal and way tougher than any other full IMs I have done.
  11. Sorry for her, most likely she's training for Ironman and now has to find a new bike to race on in 10days time!
  12. Good luck - can't imagine doing an Ironman's work of exercise plus what will end up being like 3 additional hours (unless you have super endurance) outside of an actual race. If you are crazy enough to do it, I would suggest making it a point to point journey with support crew following, so that you have an end destination to motivate you towards. E.g. swim at cradle moon, cycle 200km out to somewhere like Sun City, run 50km to your overnight stay.
  13. Different strokes... I love 1x, but admittedly mainly use it for TT (triathlon). So much simpler. That said, I switch between 2x and 1x setups depending on the riding I'm doing and courses. Some courses (hilly) require 2x, others (flatter) I will use 1x. The beauty of Etap is that its like a 10min job to remove the FD and swop chainrings... Use the FD for everyday riding, take it off for the HC where you will probably be in the small chainring the whole time anyway... wont even need to change cassette.
  14. Should consider going 1x, unless HC requires a front derailleur? Etap FD alone weighs 187g, and you'll lose a chainring. Simply get a NW chainring - but that may need a new crank - you may be able to get one custom made to fin the cannondale crank by these guys : http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk/fl/fl_cycles_carbon_chainring_2011.html Could go 46T NW chaining with an 11-28 cassette (or if you need a bigger cassette 11-32 with the eTap Wi-Fli RD). My Sram Red 11-32 cassette weighs 199g. Probably >100g net saving to be had going 1x. Once converted you can cut off the FD mount too haha!
  15. Mr Tucker's latest scathing article for La Monde. He does have some valid points about Sky but clearly writing for the French audience. http://sportsscientists.com/2018/07/can-we-trust-the-tour-sky-and-chris-froome-le-monde-op-ed/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2FcJKs+%28The+Science+of+Sport%29
