  1. You considered that the buffering is due to the undersea cables being cut/damaged this week and that all internet and streaming is being routed through what is available and limited. There are a number of websites overseas i cannot even get on to, all being timed out or error responses.
  2. Unless you are doing xterra triathlon (off road), look at getting a road bike. It will be more for your money and quicker in the race. Then if you do take to the sport of triathlon, you will already have a road bike and not have to sell a MTB to get a road bike, As for bike rack, if your car can fold down the back seats, just put it in the boot and save money. Good luck with your training and don't over think things, be comfortable you can swim, bike and run the distances, so have confidence in yourself on race day.
  3. For those with Android box or firestick. currently free Worldwide sports channels app incl Eurosport UK, ES, DE & IT, also has all the DSTV SS channels https://sportsfire.tv/ (on one of my boxes it does not show up in the apps menu once loaded, but I can run it by going to settings, apps, scroll to sportsfire and then open. Just in case you have the same issue and do not think it has loaded) Movies & TV, easy to navigate format https://onstream.so/
  4. Trek Bikes also in trouble https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industry-news/2024/03/05/trek-plans-‘right-size’-10-cuts-spending Trying to reduce stock, order less and downsize
  5. You can try ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p4432023.m570.l1313&_nkw=alphafly+1&_sacat=0
  6. Nope, will be doing it over a number of years.....CT has been on the candidate list for many years.
  7. 9 marathons, 6 ultra's, 1 Comrades, 2 Ironman, sorted with the training and what not to do, so on to the next for me, The 6 Major marathons, starting with Chicago in October.
  8. Did one and done last year, finished with a Bill Rowan medal
  9. If you are hitting the wall at 30+km then your pacing strategy is wrong and you are going too hard, probably in the first 10kms, which impacts not only your aerobic engine to run long, but your body with cramps, pains or muscle pulls. Slow down more on your longer runs in training and build the aerobic capacity
  10. Pretty much the majority of the UK races are in imperial as are road distances. Sending man to the moon might be standardized in metric, but local running races or driving to the next village/town is in miles and not kms
  11. Article is runners world where half the world runs in miles, so principle is the same you can just do 16/16/10 if you need metric. It is a strategy to consider, and rather pedantic to nit pick??? And most runners pushing for a goal time will break it down into 5km splits as well as what they go through halfway at.
  12. If you have trained for a goal time and have been hitting the pace in training then you should achieve. As for strategy that works for me: + First 5kms, I run 5-10s under race pace, don't get carried away with the hype and especially if there are 21km runners in the mix at the start. + The when warmed up, relaxed aim to hit race pace until 32km + 10kms to go pick up the pace if you can and are feeling ok + 5km to go give it all that is left, run on adrenaline, heart and knowing the finish is near and it will be all over. The last 5kms is all mind games and start breaking the distance down into known distances you run to make it easier to manage, like 3kms to finish would be from my house to a main road. At the 41km mark, for me that is 3 laps of a track. Mentally it makes it more manageable. Using this strategy I generally negatively split and am close or below my goal. Good luck and enjoy!! Edit: you can also look at the 10/10/10 method https://www.runnersworld.com/training/a29342955/marathon-training-strategy/
  13. scroll up on to Fox/ESPN, then start scrolling right to BTSport, the orange arrow after shows there are more to scroll to off screen, then when on Eurosport, hit ok/enter and should bring up the channels. This week only 2 have been working though of the 4 shown. You might also find cycling in the Supersports shown in the middle of your screen Edit: spend some time just scrolling around and seeing what is available, where things are etc, there are many screens and what they call the tiles (widgets) It's a hacked feed, so maybe in SD, maybe in HD. At least you get to see cycling!
  14. Use your remote to scroll around inside the Aspire build until you get to this screen.
  15. Scroll across to Sports TV, then scroll up and across to the one after BT/Sky Sports, you will then see Eurosport
  16. It is more common than you think in endurance athletes https://www.outsideonline.com/health/training-performance/endurance-athletes-heart-health-research-2021/
  17. Record with your garmin at the same time, you can add your smart trainer as a power meter if not already done so,
  18. Anyone tried Temu yet? https://www.temu.com/ Started operating to SA on 17 January 2024 https://mybroadband.co.za/news/investing/524602-chinese-online-shop-taking-on-wish-shein-and-takealot-in-south-africa.html https://mybroadband.co.za/news/technology/524178-we-tested-temu-with-surprising-results.html They use Buffalo Courier for delivery, so not via SAPO like Aliexpress
  19. Look forward to seeing a Giant in a Makro near you.... https://www.mtbr.com/threads/giant-bicycles-to-be-sold-at-some-dicks-sporting-goods-stores.1228475/ Desperate times, make for desperate measures, possibly at the expense of bike shops https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industry-news/2024/02/11/giant-agrees-sell-kids-and-mountain-bikes-dicks-specialty-stores
  20. Try ActivityFix https://www.activityfix.com/ you can create rules based on each bike and will auto change accordingly and automatically. See GPLama review
  21. Yes you can, then the following week, 2min off 2min on, the week after 2min off 3 min on and keep building distance/time every week. As dave303e said, lots of free online download pdf's for couch to 5km that you can follow. When you run, run at a pace you could have a normal conversation and not out of breath huffing.
  22. You just buy a temp licence for the race until you get your 2024 licence. So there is no barrier! Organisers are trying to grow the sport, it is however not them to blame when it is an Athletes South Africa problem who issue the licences
  23. ASA have always been like this and don't know why they cannot do things sooner. Every year, you enter races in early January and February and use the previous years race number. Licences are usually only available towards the end of February As regular road runners, you get use to this scenario.
  24. Hippo's have been at Cradle Moon for over 10yrs. You only have to look at their Facebook page for posts on the hippo's going back years
