How the hek do you drive up Chappies which is full of cyclists 18 out of the 24hrs of the day and not "see" a cyclist ahead?? Busy on his phone perhaps? Did you manage to catch the driver and what was his "story"?

Yep, if you search "Wimpie Van Der Merwe" on FB, you can see all his videos regarding the incident aswell as status updates as his profile is open to public view. Scary(yet not surprising) part is that in 1 video he says he is waiting over and hour and a half for the cops to show up, and the police station is literally like 1km away. The victim(a woman) was already taken to hospital and the police still hadn't arrived. Hope the lady heals up soonest.

The new Di Data BMC disc bikes look amazing. Saw the boys riding them yesterday with no bar tape on, they obviously all ate too much during their off season and now need the marginal weight gains to get up Chappies and Ou Kaaps.. LOL.. I saw Cadel Evans riding with the team yesterday and having coffee, not sure if he is with the team as part of the new BMC sponsor or perhaps in some managerial role? And keep your eyes on the Team Social Media for new sponsors(which have not yet been leaked), Unfortunately, I cannot share that news on here as yet..

I just felt like revisiting this thread and having a read through it again. He has come on in leaps and bounds since joining the WT scene. His work ethic is insane, His YouTube channel is also very cool for the mere mortal sitting behind a desk to check out and get n inside scoop on things. I am excited to see him on the WT next season and what he has to offer. PS, Great job John W.

It's quite a shambles to be fair, no podium and no recognition at all for a rider who rode 170km SOLO race.. Yes there were bunches etc, but he didn't have a full team pulling him along. It could be a great 1 day classic(some parts of the road are so bad it even feels like cobbles LOL). Then they have "big" prizes for the Team winners.. Surely doing 170km as an individual is harder than doing it as a TTT?? For me it's the same as having a "DC" but then having a short route, and then celebrating the winners of the short route and nothing for the winners of the actual "Double Century"... So this is what needs to be looked at carefully.. 109km - Podium with Prize money 170km TTT - Podium with money 170 SOLO - TFC award.

Today in was the unfortunate victim of an inconsiderate driver at the Rosmead and Wetton intersection direction Ottery. Robots were red and I was rolling up towards the robot, I was just about past the 4th car from the front and the robots went green, I was already right in the edge of the road, as the robots went green and cars started moving, a car(new shape white Polo Vivo) came past me really close and as she(lady driver) past me she mveered across and cut me off completely, so much so that I had to pull dead brakes. With there being a big drain in the gutter, it was not an option for me so I leaned as far right as I could, I was leaning against her rear fender/boot area and gave it a hard whack, then obviously with me leaning up against the car in order to avoid being squashed between the car and pavement, as she drove off at speed I fell behind her almost into the middle of the lane, fortunately for me the car behind me was quite aware and never drove over me, The lady in the white Polo however just carried on driving and I obviously never managed to get any info of the license plate etc. Bike has a few minor scratches(RD, handlebar and right pedal and my Fizik R1 shoes took some battering during the fall) All in all I am fine and will still race tomorrow , but please guys and girls, be safe out there!!

It was announced at killarney last night that the 1 Tonner will most likely start 30mins earlier than previously advertised if they get traffic officials to agree to this. Obviously for the heat and to get everyone off the road earlier The message above is a message I received from a mate.

Anyone have any idea if the PPA will seed riders according to their seeding whether they are PPA members or not? For the WCE all non PPA riders were put in the very last "Temp" group regardless of your seeding on their site. I managed to pay R50 extra to get seeded for the WCE, So wondering if I will have to pay the extra R50 again for a seeding or will I be shafted to the very last start group being the "Temp" group?
