  1. Hi Bikehub community. I recently got the new Dura Ace 9200 12 Spd groupset and scratched the crank quite a bit when the chain jumped over the big blade. Does anyone know of any bike refurb companies that would be able to respray it/clean it up knowing that it has a shiny coating on it. Any advice will be appreciated. FYI I am based in Johannesburg
  2. Come on Guy, No one wants to crash. Its part of the sport and definately not worth ranting over as if he keeps doing it intentionally. You can tell by his social media posts that he certainly is not enjoying his run of bad luck and desperately wants to race at full capacity and win again
  3. Hi guys, I have a Suunto Ambit 2 and need the strap replaced. Does anyone know the best place to buy replacements locally or know who the agents are. Thanks in advance.
  4. has anybody read Chris Froome's autobiography? I have, but cannot remember him mentioning in the book at all that he suffered from Asthma.... I would love someone to correct me or if you remember to agree with me on this....
  5. You are right I missed that one... but still the point stands
  6. Hey guys, Decided to take a look at the South African performances at this years worlds and forget about the results, I was so disappointed to see the lack of South Africans even entered into the different disciplines. Here is what I found for the 7 races already completed: Elite Mens TT: 1 Entrant: Willie Smit, (self supported rider) Elite Womans TT: 0 entrants U23 Mens TT: 0 entrants U23 Mens Road Race: 0 entrants Junior Mens TT: 1 entrant: Jason Oosthuizen Junior Womans TT: 0 entrants Junior Womans Road Race: 2 entrants: Elna Owen & Ashleigh Parsons (DNF) To sum it up across the 7 races completed at Worlds thus far South Africa only had 4 participants in total... What was also apparent is that I saw multiple entrants in each category from other African countries such as Algeria, Eritrea, Morocco Rwanda, Uganda etc... What are we doing wrong in SA cycling? is it funding, sponsorship of riders? would love to hear everyones thoughts on this.....

  8. cant seem to open your youtube link. Please post again. I can certainly relate to your story as I know what it feels like to narrowly miss out on a sub 3 argus. The year before I finally cracked it, I came in with a time of 3:00:03....doesn't get much closer than that. Good luck, your chance will come!
  9. Hi guys, Wanted some feedback from anyone who has used an oval chainring for a 1x setup, the good, the bad and whether or not it is something to look into on a long term basis.
  10. I went into the specialized store over the weekend and saw a bike there with a 1 x 10 setup. It had 32t chainring with a 11-42 cassette using sram gx RD and sram shifters. I cant help but feel like i need to change to the same RD and buy a Sram shifter and get rid of the Shimano stuff currently on my bike. The way I see it, if that bike comes built with those components and it works perfectly then if i change to the same components it will work the way I want. The cassette on the bike wasnt a sunrace cassette though but rather a special made specialised one.
  11. I didnt replace the chain. It is a sram chain but pretty new. Do you think the mix of a sram chain on the sunrace cassette with shimano RD and shifter may be the issue??
  12. Hi guys, I did a 1 x 10 conversion and found the original cassette on my bike was not sufficient (11-36) with 36t chainring. I did some investigating and was told to purchase a 10spd Sunrace 11-42 cassette which would help me a bit. So off I went and purchased the cassette, fitted it and have just found the shifting to be giving me issues and I just cannot get it right. I have a slx 10spd shifter with an XT long cage rear derailer and I also put the longer B screw in to give clearance for the derailer when on the 42t. Has anyone else done this 10spd conversion using the same components and can give me advice on how to get the shifting crisp? Do i need another rear derailer or shifter??? Alternatively would anyone advise that the conversion I have done was not correct and I should rather replace the cassette with an 11-40 Sunrace 10spd and mayb reduce my chainring from a 36t to a 32/34t? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
  13. Hi guys, Best place to get Sunrace cassettes from in JHB? Thanks
  14. As i say this bike is basically brand new. No reason they should be warped
