    Formula 1...

this, you have just became my favorite person on the Hub!
  2. I agree, it is iconic and what a sight it is! And I also agree that Newlands, albeit historic, is outdated and for all the reasons mentioned it has to eventually make way and we will see rugby being played at CTS. However, my view from day 1 was that it would have made more sense to build the new stadium but make it multipurpose, that is what I dont understand. this would also have counted MASSIVELY if SA ever again decided to tender for the Olympic Games [its not like they are going to use more land because then the athletics track next door would not have been necessary?] I dont know, sometimes things just dont seem to make sense to me. Or maybe im just too much of an optimist thinking that forward thinking is a possibility on the African Continent.
  3. all very valid comments. the hypocrisy doesnt get clearer than this: lets demolish a fully functional yet under capacity multi-purpose stadium, aka Green Point Stadium, and build a new stadium only fit for football and rugby with a separate track and field facility next door. and the new stadium is only fit for concerts when the Cape Doctor is on leave, which is 2 days a year. and then lets demolish the only indoor cycling track in the metropole so we can build more unwanted office space. but wait, COCT can make money from the rates and taxes i hear you say? and I say: PRECISELY!
  4. well ill say this: it is the only place left to have a music concert without completely losing your sh_t, because the acoustic properties of the Cape Town stadium cannot possibly be worse! even the old Green Point Stadium was better. I see on FB there was some sort of gathering there last night relating to this process? (my only reference is seeing Metallica in the old stadium, Linkin Park and Foo Fighters in the new stadium and then Metallica in the Velodrome - sorry this is the only contribution I have Shebeen)
  5. So many interesting things going on in the world of cricket. The disbanding of the franchise system; the poms in a reality check at Lord’s today a week before the Ashes; WPCA appointing Evan Flynt’s understudy as the curator of Newlands; WPCA debating whether or not to reinstate 2day cricket for the premier club league; CSA appointing a “nobody” to look after our u/19 talent etc etc. Some good, some bad, some seriously dodgy decisions being made. Its exhausting haha.
  6. @stefmeister, yes you are indeed correct. He tried to stand up to the BCCI but as we saw was ostricised for his stance. Point proven then. @shebeen, no worries buddy. I know we share the same intense passion. We can disagree in a positive manner. All good!
  7. @Shebeen, I have forgotten about this movie, I recall seeing its trailer a few years back. I will have to torrent it tonight...
  8. yes, im not at all surprised at the content of this movie. and thus my attitude towards the Indian Parkie League, the Indian Cricket team, the BCCI etc etc. and let me tell you, before you say the indian players are innocent bystanders, they are not. if you look at the attitude of Kohli and MS Dhoni, specifically a couple of years ago how they were/are behaving towards the match officials and also their extended unwillingness to allow DRS being used in any of their Bilateral series, i strongly urge you to reconsider. what was that story with Biff's side being paraded during their test series there in 2010 or so? the Guptas were nogal involved as well if im not mistaken. i tell you, nothing surprises me anymore!

  11. Aussie Woodworms not faring much better in their warmup/practice game hahaha, this might be the shortest Ashes series yet?!
  12. Is it really that different from whats happening/happened in SA? Are we next? [emoji85]
  13. King Kallis also asking that the powerplay format revert to its previous iteration of allowing 5 fielders outside the 30yard circle from overs 11-40, in order to make the game more evenly balanced between bat and ball. Now correct me if im wrong but the whole reason for the current pp iteration from overs 11-40 was because the contest between bat and ball WAS EVEN and found to be unattractive/boring. King Kallis, come again???
  14. Anybody know why Zim has been suspended from the ICC?
  15. There we are... https://www.sport24.co.za/Cricket/CricketWorldCup2019/cwc-shoved-sa-cricket-deeper-into-margins-20190718
  16. respectfully Shebeen, I dont have to do anything my friend (im not picking a fight here, we are at a truce nê, because of the side batting first and second won the koppie). I can hate them with a passion and still enjoy my cricket. the size of my erection when they lost to England was such that I almost poked my own eye out. I will rather see the Sandpaper class win 10 world cups than see the Indians reach the final. And come April when they have their little Parkie League, channel 202 becomes a no-fly zone. Luckily Im not paying Multichoice a cent for that. I say these things respectfully mate, its not a racist thing, its a BCCI and ICC thing, and the fact that when we were the number 1 test team in the world, we got shunned by the so-called big 3 because they couldnt deal with the fact that they were getting beat by a truly multi-national and diverse cricket team in any and all conditions. so they feckers had to conspire to get us off the top of the tree. Graeme Smith and that side conquered them all and they couldnt stand us for it. Thus, I HATE them with every fibre in my body.
  17. my old mate, im not going to let a statistic ruin our "friendship"... the side batting second as well as first in the WC Final won... India... now theres nothing for me to get excited about, id rather watch soccer, and I HATE soccer!
  18. yep, and they tour here in December...
  19. nothing strange there my friend, tbh i also had to look it up: https://www.cricketworldcup.com/news/en/487717 Appendix F Procedure for the Super Over The following procedure shall apply should the provision for a Super Over be adopted in any match. 1. Subject to weather conditions the Super Over will take place on the scheduled day of the match at a time to be determined by the ICC Match Referee. In normal circumstances it shall commence 10 minutes after the conclusion of the match. 2. The amount of extra time allocated to the Super Over is the greater of (a) the extra time allocated to the original match less the amount of extra time actually utilised and (b) the gap between the actual end of the match and the time the original match would have been scheduled to finish had the whole of the extra time provision been utilised. Should play be delayed prior to or during the Super Over once the playing time lost exceeds the extra time allocated, the Super Over shall be abandoned. See paragraph 15 below. 3. The Super Over shall take place on the pitch allocated for the match (the designated pitch) unless otherwise determined by the umpires in consultation with the Ground Authority and the ICC Match Referee. 4. The umpires shall stand at the same end as that in which they finished the match. 5. In both innings of the Super Over, the fielding side shall choose from which end to bowl. 6. Only nominated players in the match may participate in the Super Over. Should any player (including the batsmen and bowler) be unable to continue to participate in the Super Over due to injury, illness or other wholly acceptable reasons, the relevant Playing Conditions as they apply in the match shall also apply in the Super Over. 7. Any penalty time being served in the match shall be carried forward to the Super Over. 8. Each team’s over is played with the same fielding restrictions as apply for the last over in a match played under the ICC Twenty20 International Playing Conditions. 9. The team batting second in the match shall bat first in the Super Over. 10. The captain of the fielding team (or his/her nominee) shall select the ball with which the fielding team shall bowl their over in the Super Over from the box of spare balls provided by the umpires (which shall include the balls used in the match, but no new balls). The team fielding first in the Super Over shall have first choice of ball. The team fielding second may choose to use the same ball as chosen by the team bowling first. If the ball needs to be changed, the Playing Conditions shall apply. 11. The loss of two wickets in the over ends the team’s one over innings. 12. In the event of the teams having the same score after the Super Over has been completed, if the original match was a tie under the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern method, paragraph 14 below shall apply. Otherwise, the team whose batsmen hit the most number of boundaries combined from its two innings in both the match and the Super Over shall be the winner. 13. If the number of boundaries hit by both teams is equal, the team whose batsmen scored more boundaries during its innings in the main match (ignoring the Super Over) shall be the winner. 14. If still equal, a count-back from the final ball of the Super Over shall be conducted. The team with the higher scoring delivery shall be the winner. If a team loses two wickets during its over, then any unbowled deliveries will be counted as dot balls. Note that for this purpose, the runs scored from a delivery is defined as the total team runs scored since the completion of the previous legitimate ball, i.e including any runs resulting from wides, no balls or penalty runs
  20. well now, that overthrow is causing quite a stir this morning: according to the wording of the law (19.8) "19.8 Overthrow or wilful act of fielder If the boundary results from an overthrow or from the wilful act of a fielder, the runs scored shall be any runs for penalties awarded to either side and the allowance for the boundary and the runs completed by the batsmen, together with the run in progress if they had [Laws of Cricket 2017 Code (2nd Edition - 2019) 34] already crossed at the instant of the throw or act. Law 18.12.2 (Batsman returning to wicket he/she has left) shall apply as from the instant of the throw or act." the problem I see here is that the laws dont take into account any deflection off the batsman, whether intentional or unintentional. the laws address the issue of the batsmen obstructing the attempted throw at the wickets, but not specifically what happens in the example at hand. this one is not quite over, haha

Im really starting to dislike Vettel and to lose my patience for him. Get Schumacher junior in there please ffs.
  22. I really thought the Kiwis had it, until that deflection ran away for 4. Talk about luck running for you!
  23. Correction: the most boundaries combined in the 50 overs as well as the super over.
