  5. Another zombie thread awakening.... Any new info on rentals?
  6. Just got a message from him. His name is listed as D.W. on Whatsapp. Gonna hit the report button. Number is 074 673 3404.
  7. Started fasting on mornings that I do not train. Eat Futurelife and toast by about 11:00 and it lasts until after 18:00 when I usually get home. I take one or two fruits in the afternoon and drink plenty of water. Dinner with small portions. Down to 63,8kg from 65,3kg in a month. Still 3kg to go ????????
  8. One more sleep... will be there in my MTB free ride shoes, mismatched kit and fired up legs. Bring it on, weekend warriors ????
  9. How many criterium races in SA have been around?
  10. It’s a ‘new’ racing format to the SA market. Understandably, this may, or may not appeal to the masses. They made the decision to fuse categories to ensure that they do not have only ten people on the start line for one category. The cycling community may take a while to adapt to this new idea, so their initiative can’t be bashed just because there isn’t enough interest... yet.
  11. 3h22 https://www.bikehub.co.za/features/_/news/mtb/sa-mtb/boyes-and-tunstead-victorious-at-the-2018-buco-karoo-to-coast-r7544
  12. This one is unfortunately a 200km one way trip for me... would have been awesome to do. At least the post-race video made it seem pretty cool. Will have to wait for the Diamond Rush
  13. I just remembered when I used to be one of the last ones to cross the line. Now I can also ride the full marathon at 85%. The announcer was there earlier - even called our names out - and we got medals. He probably left after prize giving. Well done on pushing through. Next one you’ll go even stronger.
  14. As expected, it was a USN race with a Garmin sticker. Had loads of fun with the added technical bits. Managed a 3h00 for the 55km.
  15. Are they selling vintage bikes and do we now have to pay with pieces of silver now
  16. Not at all. If you have done any races previously, you have been seeded according to your performance in those races.
  17. I am in the “try to be fast” B batch. Will hopefully catch up to some A batchers ????
  18. Will probably get seeding info today
  19. info@velocourse.co.za They might accommodate late entries on race day
  20. It depends on the distance. 50km is quite technical but doable. 30km is intermediate and the rest is very easy, consisting of mainly jeep track. Single tracks are flowing and fun. Elevation is quite flat - mostly short steep climbs.
  21. Ok thanks. So training should just be more relaxed rather than gunning for PB’s
  22. Perhaps as close to the fitness graph as possible
  23. So, I have decided to ‘give it a tri’ and entered the FUNTRI in Ekurhuleni in October. 600m/20km/5km. Any advice on how much can be pushed and when to rather hold back a bit? I am following a training program from FitTrack with 8 training sessions per week at various intensity levels that peaks before the event, but any other advice? I am also a bit in the dark regarding transition rules. When are you supposed be on/off your bike? Does the transition time count towards final time?
  24. When you rest well between training sessions, you recover, fatigue subsides and your form improves. Better form, better performance and results.
