  1. Kings Park Pool (Durban) charge R15 for a session. I think you can get 30 vouchers for about R12 a voucher, but not too sure. Was swimming once a week at Virgin, but as I used the gym for nothing else, R100 per swim was a bit hard to justify...
  2. Why not have the option when you enter, X with goodie bag, X less a few rands without... Have definitely entered races before where I've had the option of a t-shirt etc. I personally would just pay for the race, and then if I saw something decent at a sponsors stand at the event, I'd buy it there.
  3. Just catching up on this thread with a Saturday morning coffee. How did OP know the guy had a Congolese accent if he was only contacted via sms? ????
  4. I'm sure the ones I have are Continental valve extenders for tubes with removable cores. I did buy them in the uk, but I'm sure anyone stocking Contis will have them. Much better than the Zipp extenders, I find that the end of the valve closes itself after a while, and it's a mission to open if the end of the valve sits lower than your deep section...
  5. For sure, I suppose the more appropriate thing to say is that all rules should be implemented properly, not just the ones that are easy to enforce... That said, I'd far rather be beaten by a sleeveless warrior... ????
  6. Good to see CSA have their priorities right, clamp down on the sleeveless, but let the guy who has syringes in his bag at world champs race without stating that he has been cleared... If I missed something I apologize in advance.
  7. So he's either been cleared or CSA not too fussed about their own events?
  8. Would he have voluntarily withdrawn if it could easily be seen it had been used for mechanical purposes, I doubt it....
  9. Cool pictures, if you have one of 2 legs sticking up out the water it's probably me...
  10. I found it fine going out, but got hammered on the way in, wrong place wrong time... A big wave landed on me, and I just rolled for what seemed like ages. Otherwise not too bad.
  11. The referees tried hard to minimize the drafting, but just too many people on the road. I went past a group of 6 or 7 guys who shouted out when a motorbike was approaching and spilt up, don't really see the point in riding in a bunch when you're doing these events, these guys were miles away from being age group contenders!! Otherwise checked out bike with no hassles. A few teething problems, but otherwise I thought everything was done well, and I've done a few IM events here, Europe, Far East... Good days out, but aching now...
  12. It was blowing from the south west, the usual wind that brings the rain. Conditions on Sunday are supposed to be similar to today, and sea conditions look pretty good today. Wind is meant to be a light north east which will make the return leg on the bike a pleasure.
  13. Seems like a worthwhile investment!! Keep us posted with how it all turns out...
  14. Vivek, if you don't mind me asking, what did this set you back $$$? Excluding the new stem of course...
  15. Swam at North Beach this morning, went out in the middle of the piers. Felt like I was swimming on the spot for a while, but made it out. Once behind the back line it was nice smooth water. Did an in out again at the end. Just hope it's not any bigger on race day.
  16. I'll be doing a surf swim this weekend, just hope there's nothing trapped on this side Also looks as though surf conditions are improving next week.
  17. Just heard shark nets are back in...
  18. The only on ramp we use is the one onto the M4 at Blue Lagoon, and that's pretty gentle. The 2nd lap at Glenashley we go on and off on the north bound side, no incline there.
  19. There's no 24% gradient on the route, and I think a 25 is sufficient if you are fairly ok on the uphills. I'll have a 12-27, but then again speed bumps are an effort for me...
  20. 847... Am surprised at how small the pro field is?!?!?
  21. I've often thought that some "legit" operations must be involved with this, especially the resale of high end bikes and components. I wonder if the bike shops with this microdotting pen will offer this service to existing owners or whether they will only mark new bikes sold in their shops? I'd go and pay R300 to get it done if it was offered somewhere...
  22. Some of the other bits don't make much sense to me...
