my lbs, charged slightly over R1000, that is inclusive of 2 purgatory tyres plus all the goodies that goes with making a conversion. I will be back. that is a rip off. R600 a tyre? on a R6k bike. nee man, iets is nie reg nie.

sorry to hear this. i never cycle table mountain/rhodes cos of the muggings. I always feel safe at Tokai and actually only fear baboons. now i am very upset because now Tokai is not even reasonably safe of late. I often cycle alone in Tokai (I know it is not the safest) but often my timing doesn't allow me to organise a ride or no one is available when I do want to go. I am one of the first cars at Tokai. This is ridiculous. I would like to get involve to make it safer, don't know how. but this can't carry on. then I might as well hang up my mtb and brave the road

hi Newbie I stopped asking those questions. this is MTB so expect everything and take it as it comes. if I tell it is gravel or sand, or rocky, will you not do it? for me it is simple. if i'm in great shape I do the long route, if i'm okay shape then medium route, and if I am in bad shape I don't go.

Cippo got it spot on, my favourite rides on the road as well. Just be careful coming up the nek from Hout Bay's side, a bit tight with no/very little shoulder.

im all for disc's on road bikes. I commute daily and in winter I only use my MTB mainly due to the stopping power, especially in the wet. You have to be on the brakes in peak hour CT traffic. and because I am never going to be anything close to pro, I can live with the extra grams. safety first for me more important

I recall from my volleyball days in the 90's there were constant debates/fights between WPVolleyball and Volleyball SA. it has a similar smell to this this thread. WPVolleyball even went as far to dissaffiliate from the national body. the same questions were asked? what does the national body do for the sport? the top WP volleyball players hardly got international exposure and we had to have cake sales for someone to go overseas. Despite our beaches, we can't even attract FIVB beach volleyball events, never mind national tournaments. national bodies, grrrrr, very political too, always fatcats involved. for me, if I were PPA, i would join but not part with the money. CSA vs PPA, at the end of the day I hope cycling wins
