  1. Thanks for all the advise. Appreciated. It all makes sense.
  2. I love my Edge 500 but I don't do any running so not sure how it will work for that. On the bike, it's spot on. Just the right amount of info and a great price. The higher models are nice but the price is silly.
  3. I made my own plate for the Fortuner. Took an old house for sale sign, cut it with tin snips, spray painted it black and pop riveted it to the Thule rack where the exhaust blows. Over 5000km of towing my bikes and not a single issue. Cost, 10 bucks. Time, 30min.
  4. Hello all. I'm riding a Scott carbon hardtail and have endless issues breaking spokes on the back wheel. Time to change the wheels. Any suggestions under the R7k mark? Crest, XT or Crossride. Anything else? I'm on the heavy side, 100kg, half-marathon type racing.
  5. I was there today too. Got hot pretty early!!!
  6. I've ride there once a week, never had a single problem, ever. Yes there has been the odd incident but many of the ones I heard were not actually on the farm. People refer to that whole area sometimes as Northern Farms so I thinks it's got the wrap for more than it deserves. My wife and 10 year old boy ride there too. They feel safe. Stick to the marked routes and you should be fine. IMO
  7. I understand that. Everyone to their own. I'm only giving my view. Seen some good ideas here, including yours to call in person, also like the idea of getting ID number etc. Any contractor that sets foot on my property shows me his ID at the gate, and I take a pic of it. No ID, no deal. I'm glad though this ended well.
  8. You don't mention in your post if he looked at the bike face to face? Assume it was from another city as you mention shipping. That's my first warning when selling something. I would never buy anything that I haven't seen and inspected so will never sell anything in the same manner. Just way too risky. Glad you didn't fall for it though and thanks for the warning.
  9. I commute on a bike and when I see the idiots doing that even I get pissed off!! I don't know what the point is.
  10. I'm using the Edge 500. Does everything I want and more. The 510 & 810 are nice but I can't justify the extra $$ for what seem to be non-essential extras IMO. Drop me a PM if you want and I will share one of my workouts from Garmin Connect so so can see what data it captured etc.
  11. Different for everyone. For me, I've always used Time and love them.
  12. Two broken spokes on the back wheel and a smashed poploc lever after a short stint over the bars....
  13. and if it was that "fast" why you selling it? I've never ever heard any cyclist say they want to go slower!! Ever..
  14. Did you bother to read any of the earlier posts???
  15. For recreation or racing IMO, the scale is better for men and the Aspect for ladies. I have a scale and enjoy it, my wife rides an aspect and likes the geometry. Girls have shorter upper bodies so the compact cockpit helps. Her bike is now full XT with a Fox up front and works perfectly riding a half-marathon on Saturday and family trails on Sunday.
  16. Please share some more info if possible. Where exactly, what tactics did they use?
  17. Everything is ANT+ so it's pretty easy and does work. If you are using the powercal strap you just pair it with your garmin twice. Once as a HR monitor and once as a power meter. Then you pair your speed/cadence if you have one. Works prefect.
  18. The type of bar used on the roofrack is what determines most of the noise. Square bars are very noisy. I'm using the Aero Whisper bars and don't have excessive noise.
