Now that I've tried it I'm going to recommend it to anyone visiting here. It was a really nice experience ????

Every time I see a beautiful piece of water in Spain, my first thought is, I'm sure there is fish in that water...

Is fishing permitted in these dams? Any idea what's under the clear blue? Perhaps trout...

  2. Is buying or selling a bike a LIFE OR DEATH situation?

The answer to the first post is straight forward...Agree to a purchase price and hold the bike for the buyer as promised. If a second buyer calls, tell him he is next in line if the buyer doesn't pitch.

If the bike you are selling is a bargain, then there should be many buyers in line.

If the seller sells it to someone else before the agreed time frame, he or she is a chop and "sorry for you", you lost out on THAT deal. There will be another deal and possibly another chop.

Put on the telly and watch TDF. The anger will pass.

  3. Gave in and rejoined DSTV to watch the Tour.

Surprised to hear the Chipmunks being invited to commentate...????

I was hoping it would be an improvement on the EURO SPORT 1 commentating.

At least the Tour has been interesting!

  4. I haven't read your posts in a while. Managed to ready your last few posts as a catchup.

A strong theme of humanity comes through these posts which I truly envy...You have managed to make it work there and more important, become accepted amongst the locals - huge respect!

Due to Covid, no visits to the Basque country the last 2 years, having to be content with virtual meetings.

Hoping to travel again in 2022!

Please keep writing about your experiences and local culture. I really enjoy your thoughts on the Hub.

  5. I think it's a black sparrowhawk for last year's comments. It sometimes comes and pays a visit to our eastate. It is much bigger than I imagined.

Others already answered on it's identification

Feeling is believing...that bird and Klap you hard on the helmet. Take care.

How's the single track riding at the moment? Want to start there again as soon as the mud dries up!

  6. My daughter accidentally pressed the panic button and they came to her on campus via GPS.

Agree, if you activate the SOS, they will locate you. Try track her movements and set an alert when she reaches home. Big difference. I spent weeks proving this to Namola via calls and email until they eventually agreed that this is not a good active tracking system. I think it's to do with the battery life /  data costs and how often the unit updates it's position.

If you go out for a cycle and go missing without activating the SOS, your last or current location is not accurate or immediate. Important to know this limitation.

  7. Check out namola.com. the size of a remote, panic button, GPS tracking, can receive calls, but not make them. Very affordable, just check coverage in your area. We bought one for our daughter who studies in Stellenbosch and is a diabetic.

I purchased 2 Namola units...I think they will work well as an SOS button. A total mess as a GPS tracker! The tracker often sends notifications HOURS after I've arrived home. Something they just forgot to mention to me when I purchased them. Don't expect the unit to give an accurate position of where you are!

  8. Hi Grey Hubs,

Sorry to hear that you're haven't got through to us. We've been quite busy setting up a shop, but that's no excuse for preventing somebody from experiencing our coffee. I've PM'd you some contact details, so we can get some beans to you.

Great thanks. Ordered beans already. Next order i'll place with you.

  9. Bird damage to helmet, river section LOLOLOLOL

    Its proper dangerous.....

You need to ride faster :whistling:

I eventually figured out what to do to stop being smacked on the head - hold your hand on your helmet like a Mohawk...I got the idea from "The Gods must be crazy" movie. I must had looked ready silly and also difficult to steer with one hand.

Better we stay clear until they have done their bit...

  10. Iv'e watched a few of he's interviews and documentary films and for some strange reason, for all he's cheats and arrogant behavior, I still like the guy...  Have to admire the talent he has/had and the resilience to stay in the public eye. It would have been VERY easy to slip away, pay he's $ 5 Million fine and hope few remember...But he is still doing Podcasts and in the media telling he's story.

    I must be getting soft!

  11. Isn't that what Namola does on some level? Panic, messaging, tracking, locate, assistance, medical and armed response, communication all on a stand alone device-pod-keyring thing.

Obviously it's more angled to the personal use rather than a item to drop down a seat post or hide under a saddle. Issue I see in having the personal alarm / personal tracking and a device that is so small as to be able to be hidden and not found on a bike is that they're 2 different purposes. Really one would be as small and tiny as possible and not be found and just track the other is a personal device. If as a joint unit it's so small it can't be found on a bike then I am going to lose it for sure before walking out the door when looking to use it in it's personal alarm guise and any buttons would need a needle to operate.

Also I'm not sure that I'd be pulling up my dropper to pop a tracker down my seat post before every ride and then trying to get it out after. Rather I'd love 2 options bundled in one system. 1 like the Namola type device to have with me and can be passed about around the family and nanny etc and then a track tag that can stay in / on my bikes 24/7 and be activated via an app or is constantly running (though my wife might realise how much time I spend at the cafe post ride) and they all work off the same service.

I thought this was a great idea and purchased 2 panic buttons with a years subscription to Namola Plus.

So far, VERY disappointed. The active tracking response on the app is VERY slow. I'm home, having a coffee and washing my bike by the time my Mrs gets a notification that I've arrived safe...

The last notification messages sent are 2 to 3 hrs after home arrival.

Really no good enough for a "safety device".
