  1. Purchased mtb t-shirts,quality is very decent. Just size up,size guides are accurate.

Bought odi styled grips, grips look good but not at all tacky or grippy as original odi, as expected for the price.

Scvcn photochromic glasses very comfortable and tints as should just not quick transition. For price it's excellent, however concerned if lenses break,do they splinter etc.

Afraid to try cranks, bars or pedals etc for fear of failure on trails.

    Shipping was 11 days.

Was charged 10percent customs even with 2 x tshirts.

I bought a hub from a seller on BH on the 19th of March. The gent is selling under his own name, but is a shop owner also.

He advertised a few different hubs in various configurations - but all with interchangeable freehub bodies.

I inquired as to taking one of the centerlock hubs with an XD driver rather than the MS driver that was on there and he agreed. Sent me 'n photo with the driver in place on said hub.

He made the price for the hub and I paid him for the hub and shipping first thing the next morning. Seller said that he will send the waybill number at lunchtime. (he's far from me)

    Payment was done by 8:29am.

    Then the waiting started.

On the 20th I reminded him to send me the waybill number if he has not already. no reply.

On the 25th I reminder him to send me the waybill number if he has not already. no reply.

I phoned him. he did not answer but returned my call, and he had to be reminded who I was.

On the 26th I reminded him again - and then he sent me the waybill number. Hooray.

On the 28th I picked up the package and rushed home. First thing you do with a package, rip it open and spin for hub sound. Aaaaand nothing. no sound. No engagement.  Turns out the freehub spins well... freely in both directions. I take the freehub off - and there's only one ratchet ring and spring in the hub.  One spring and one ratchet ring missing.  I immediately send the gent a video, photo and explanation of what's missing.  Seller replies that he'll look for it.

2 April. I remind him re this at 9:40am and then at 20:52pm. He replies after nine that he is looking for a spring.

4 April (Thursday). I tell him that if he can't find the part by Tuesday the 9th, that he must please refund my money including shipping and I'll return the hub to him. No reply.

5 April - reminder for this. No reply.

8 April (Monday) I find the parts locally for a decent price and give him the option to pay for the parts or refund my money and get the hub back. no replies.

9 April (Tuesday) I ask him what he chose. I have the part wrapped and ready to be sent. He then sends a voice message saying he's not willing to pay for the parts, since the hub is worth more than i paid.  I didn't make the price and the hub I bought was not needing any parts based on our discussions.
I reply that that's fine. I'll send the hub back, as soon as he refunds my money. I carried all the risk up to now, and that this time around, he can do the EFT first.

10 April. (Wednesday) he send me a message saying I must send the hub back, and when he receives it he will do the refund. I'm sorry, but so far no reason to trust that I will get my money back. I reply to that effect.
By now my blood is boiling. I let him know that my patience is wearing thin and that that I've asked around, that he is supposedly a nice guy that does decent business. But that that does not help me when this is the kind of service I receive.  Having to drive all communication and no resolve from his side.

I receive more comms from him saying that he can't give me my money back until I send the part, and that his company is not as big as the one I work for (references the company I work for), and because of that, I won't understand why he can't do the refund before he gets the part back.

So far his word has been worth 0 on a contract.

I have all communication on whatsapp.

now keyboard warriors; gallery - do I return the hub and twiddle thumbs hoping he refunds me? Do i name and shame?  Or do I go drastic, and take both legal steps, give his business a kick in the teeth and name and shame him on here and FB?  And yes, I know its small change, but its the principle that has me extremely pissed off here.

Was he selling 3 hubs in 1 ad?

    All 3 dt swiss hubs

Also find it strange that they don't entertain warrantiesm Definitely not my experience, although I had the older Pulse and Amp wheel...not sure if warranty policy is different, but I always experienced great service from Dayle.

My Pulse rims (alu) cracked/split and was replaced without issues. When one of the replacements split as well, I got an AMP at a discounted price (I requested the amp rather than another Pulse replacement). So really no issues with support/warranties

I haven't seen any warranty replacement statement on the website so I'm assuming if it does get replaced or new item discount, it's purely out of his good nature.

LYNE COMPONENTS needs some new riding merchandise now, please

Ive seen one or two small niggles with the OLD freehub, but never a wheel rim. In the one group i ride with they are all on Lyne wheels, carbon and alloy versions, Hi-per and the old hubs too. They take all the beating in their stride.
Whoever suggested Lyne don't entertain warranty claims might need to check their nose in the mirror. It is borderline blasphemous i would say lol.
Im sure they have to consider and need to take into WHY it failed too…but in my experience they tend to either swop it out or provide you with a new one at vastly reduced prices.
Service is great and i mean you are generally dealing with the owner himself.  A few years ago i had some issues with an out of warranty 170mm dropper and they nevertheless replaced the internals for free to get me sorted.

I agree, I couldn't believe it either when I heard they didn't want to entertain a warranty replacement or discount on a new rim purchase untill i saw the correspondence myself.

I have been a long time fan of Lyne and never had any issues with the products or service as he is top notch.

From the holy rail, bars, stem, droppers all been faultless.

I do have 1 issue, they haven't been making new riding tops-love the fit of them

  5. Lyne wheels enquiry.

Anybody have reviews on the updated Lyne Amp HD rims.

I have heard of few rim failures where it Splits in half and no warranty claims entertained.

Lyne are generally great at afterwards and products normally good.

    Any feedback?

If you can decipher it, these were the customs workings on 4x TUFO thundero tires I brought in on a shipment recently via DHL. Looks like I was only charged VAT and no additional duties but I do think tires usually carry duties.

From what I see and the tyres don't attract duties as per the customs advisory or not specified atleast.

Hard to see on your image, doesn't seem as any added duties been applied to your purchase

Thanks all. Seems like a bit of a lost cause

Many stores around SA use to distribute Norco, think the local distributor stopped in 2023.

However I can say I owned 2 norco bikes, great bikes and I had warranty claim directly with Norco and they shipped parts for free during covid.

    Their customer service was excellent

I get to the What3Words map section of the sign up page on the app, then it gives a notification "Unexpected Error".. Flippen frustrating.

Is there any other service I can use similar to AGS?

    Same happened with me.

Called into aramex and consultant manually updated mine

I haven’t had any toe strikes yet but they’re not devoid of protection, mostdef have a somewhat firmer additional layer to the front and side of toes.  Great for wet weather riding.  Feet stayed dry and shoes don’t get soggy-heavy at all.

You’re right wrt them being a bit narrow, I usually use UK10 and chose a UK11 and it worked a treat.  For reference, apart from riding elsewhere on the half dozen days when the trails were too wet around here, I’ve used them about 26 hours on trails.  The soles of these Semenuk Pros are not as sticky as the Michelin-soled Culvert but they show no sign of any wear from my prominent pedal pins.

Only looked at them ’cos some comparative reviews rated them as equal or better than Freeriders, and they’ve very quickly become my fave pair.

Glad to hear you having good experience thus far and especially with the winter we had in the cape, that water repelling is very handy.

I was just concerned about that toe box not having a decent toe protection as I get abit rowdy 😅

Same reason with me, the reviews rated them very high and took me to go try them on and they well priced.

    Enjoy it boet

I like the skateboard styling but with proppeh protection for gnarly trails or wet rides (the tongue is also fully gusseted, said the actress to the bishop…).

Had my eye on this shoes.

Let me know how it is,was concerned they are narrow for my wide feet and has no toe protection

Aliexpress don't issue invoices either. I print the page with the price etc on it and attach that. This has worked for SA customs.

Thank you for that precious information,  thought aliexpress issues some kind of invoice.

Surprised customs accepts your print out.

Odd. Did you try some of the other shoes besides the Culvert? My feet aren't narrow and I don't struggle at all.

AFAIK the Semenuk does not have the hard sole as it's more for short dirt jump runs vs all day enduros.

Guess I got extra wide feet then lol.

@guidodgtry bloemendal trail hub shop they had etnies for sale at R950

    Give them a call

    Etnies are great!

They have been around for decades. Making quality skate & BMX shoes and they are now making proper MTB flats. Some of the worlds best are riding for them (Semenuk, etc).

I have the Culverts now and I really like them. My previous 3 pairs were Fiveten so my standards are high.

Go MX has them in stock at really good prices. If you are in CT they have a nice shop worth checking out, otherwise online.

    https://www.go-mx.co.za/collections/mtb-gear/Shoes

they look good, however when I tried them on they abit narrow and have no real toe protection on the culverts.

    Is the Semenuk different?

  15. Also try Leatt , the 2022 range seems to be on special at most stores.

Not sure what type riding you do but you mentioned gravel.

The Leatt 1.0 might be up your alley but the 2.0 and 3.0 have a more solid and offer more protection.

Pedal and shoe combination is important to note
