  1. Also make sure that the plate which goes under the screws is mounted the right way around.  It is counter sunk, so if its in upside down then the screw heads stick out slightly and create problems.  I've seen people not able to get in and out properly because of this easy installation error.

  2. I powered my trainer and a monitor for over three hours with a little router buddy box.  The trainer hardly draws anything and works 100%.  But that was using a laptop on its own battery and I moved my whole setup outside in the wind.  Its a different story for powering a PC, TV and fan.
But since then I've upgraded to a Neo2T and now don't need any power

  3. Its really nice up there, especially at this time of year when the sand is firm and easy to ride on.  Its really beautiful, but you do need to be careful.  A buddy of mine was bike jacked up there although that was many years ago now.
The bigger loop around is the best way to get to the dam and then on to the mule path.

I went running up there a few weeks ago - first time I've been up there in years.  Still great!

Hope you don't mean Nsquared 👀

They WERE the agents but now #MISSING

They're trading under Never Stand Still now (or at least they were recently).

Alternatively, as Thomo said, go to Clint.

  5. I stayed at Gecko Creek and they made food there if you pre arrange it.  Great place to stay too - very remote.  Used that as my starting point and then grabbed breakfast at Oasis as I went past.  Got a pie in Op-Die-Berg and that was enough for the whole trip.  But I guess its different if you're doing it over multiple days.

Have a look at our ebikes.

Very well priced and have some demo's available. Available in drop bar or flat bar.

We have a few setups, for commuting many please enjoy the belt drive version.

I was going to suggest Darkhorse, and then there it was!
The single speed belt drive looks like an absolute winner to me for commuting.  That's what I'd do.

Car hire my Dad paid for but it was about R1500 for a class A(smallest) from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon(again got a decent discount through multiply). Fuel, we literally only drove from airport to hotel and back(we walked to expo and waterfront for everything). Filled up at the BP by the airport and it was 100 bucks.

Why not just Uber if you're not needing a car?

  8. I had a fun ride this year on a BMX.  I don't ever ride BMX's and this was my first ride on this borrowed bike.  I had a jol!  It was a challenging ride with cramps from my legs starting in Smits and getting progressively worse as the ride went on.  I'm just not used to using my leg muscles in this way and I think that's what caused them to set in so early.  Gearing on it meant that I had to stand up on every incline and stay standing until over the crest - hard work, but it meant I over took hundreds of people on every hill.
I got loads of comments and encouragement along the way, and also had a silly hooter which sounded like a dying duck which I used all the time.

Finished the race in 4h03 which I think for a single speed BMX that I'm not used to isn't too bad.  This is the only photo which I have of me, but lots of other people were snapping pics of me as they went past so if anyone has any please share them

  9. Everyone always wants a caddy, but I went slightly different with a Touran. The major benefits of it over a Caddy are that it can actually carry people (seven of them!), and it has proper rear suspension instead of a solid axle. This means that it drives like a car and is way more comfortable. The boot is huge and the seats can fold forwards (or be taken out completely) to create heaps of space. I can easily fit two mountain bikes in the back without having to take the wheels off, and still have loads of space for stuff. I've even slept flat in the back next to my bike when going to far away races.

And it's got diesel power and efficiency and all of the creature comforts I could want. It's a seriously under-rated car.

  10. My wife and I were thrown into the deep end in 2020 and told we had to ride a tandem for the DC.  But we'd never ridden one before, and her total riding experience was quite low at that point.  We picked up the tandem we'd be using just a few days before the race which gave us two training/familiarity days and then our third day on the bike was for the race.   So much for getting in sync or finding the flow!

Overall though it was great!  Climbing was harder than I expected, but the flats and downhills were great.   We could just sit in the front and pull like a train.

The big factor though (as Tyron said) is communication.   You both have to be doing the same thing at the same time without anything changing unexpectedly.  Cadence has to match as does standing / sitting or trying to power surge.

For a little while we considered getting our own tandem, but then the wife got a nice road bike (she's already stolen one of my mountain bikes) and decided that she's happier riding that by herself, so that's shelved that plan.  But it could be fun to ride one with my kids, so its still stewing in my mind...

That to me indicates it could be that the rim tape has pulled away from the edge, possibly due to a flat or underinflated tyre.

This.  When the tyre goes flat it often pulls the edge of the tape off with it.  Air then leaks into the inside of the rim through one of the freshly exposed spoke nipple holes and the valve hole is the easy escape for that air.  The valve often gets blamed as being the leaky part, but its just the tape that needs to be redone.

The tyre likely ran out of good sealant and just went flat, like any other tubeless tyre, creating this issue.

Therefore, obviously, Bike Market must burn.

check my reply earlier, there is an official whatsapp app for that, "clicktochat"

Since alot of my work is communication via whatsapp to potential clients I use this daily.

That's fine if you do it a lot, but if you only ever need to chat to random people occasionally then its easier to just type in wa.me/+27 and not have more app clutter.

I hate whatsapp desktop.  It frequently freeze up and force me to restart my session, most of the time happen when I try to open a photo or video.  Anyone else experienced this?

Same, I've not had good results with it.  I just use a browser tab for it where it works perfectly.

And when you need to whatsapp a new contact? you have to ad said contact ad then they still get to see your pics. Whatsapp is the most unsecure patform around, anyone with access to your number has access.

You don't need to add a contact to have a Whatsapp chat with them.  Just go onto good old Google and type in "wa.me/+27*********" (the stars are the persons number, minus the first zero) and it'll take you into a chat with them.  You can do this from your phone or PC if you're using Whatsapp web.

This way they're not a contact so you still keep your privacy if you want it.  Someone else adding you to their contacts list doesn't allow them access to your information.
