  1. I did this during lock down on the trainer. But I discovered a waaaay easier way to reach the goal. Whenever I get the urge to do something like this I just sit a little longer and wait for the feeling to pass
  2. I tend to agree with you on this one, I wish I stumbled across this thread 3 minutes earlier so that I could've posted it first 🤣. Hear me out quickly: a) It is two different rear mechs on the same bike, therefore any setting or failure pertaining to the rear mechs comes from the bike. This leads me to eliminate any setting on the rear mech itself. b) If it was the b-screw the rear mech would catch the cassette making one hell-of-a noise going up. One would almost have to man-handle the mech to get it to stay in the top position c) If it was related to the chainline the chain would continue dropping off the ring in the front. This is due to the spring in the rear mech pulling the chain to return to its resting / neutral position. A very vital clue is this: we would sometimes have issues with the chain slipping off the jockey wheel. This tells me that the hanger is bent and that the chain is causing the damage. If you fix the hanger alignment this will not happen again.
  3. If memory serves, I think she has the same config as this set: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/mountain-bike-wheels/685162/29er-wheelset but yeah, the easiest will be to get an additional set although bear in mind that you will have to get an additional 10 speed cassette as well
  4. The year was somewhere in the late 2020's when I perused the classifieds minding my own business only to stumble upon a neglected and worn down Pyga Pascoe 140. If memory serves this is a 2015 model and the original owner applied some elbow grease and or other chemicals to eliminate "most" but alas not "all" of the once gleaming paintwork to run it exposed for everyone to peak under her proverbial skirt. Before: It took me a few years to decide what I wanted to do with her, but the moment inspiration struck there was no turning back. This is a once off custom look. I increased the size of the decals but kept it quite minimal rather than some flashy billboard 😁. The paint color is a silver pearl with a royal blue candy (for those like me saying huh? - it is a silver base coat with a royal blue candy). What this translates to: in low light this frame appears just a normal blue but once the sun hits it then BAMM! It will shine like the skinny vampire in the Twilight films 🤣. For the rest of the parts I am going with: Fork - Marzocchi Dorado (160mm) Shock - Rockshox Monarch Plus Brakes - SRAM Guide G2 4 piston Groupset - Most likely XT 1x12 Wheels - Newly built (unbranded) wheels with Novatec Hubs and XD drive This once off build will hit the classifieds near you within the next week or two 😃, happy Friday everyone
  5. I know of a bike shop in EL that has a 34.9 post, can get it here. But then again, I am sure there's better options .
  6. I tend to agree with you @Chadvdw67, I've seen this guy re-posting his crap over and over without removing the old stuff. To be honest I've seen one or two items which I thought I may be keen to own but for some weird reason I decided not to contact him, now I know why, it was my spidey-senses warning me to steer clear 🥴
  7. It is always a tough one, send it back IMO as it is non functional
  8. This! Nothing will change unless the root of the problem is addressed. If you have a look at a basic thing like "Maslow's hierarchy of needs" you will see that the first and most basic need is not even achieved by a lot of people here and you our beautiful country. I mean do a quick calculation, take someone working in and or around your house, now take the cost of your bike: Bike price / his or her daily rate =??? It will take them not days or months but rather years of saving everything he / she earns to be able to afford something basic like a bike. The problem that needs to be addressed is not where to place your weapon whilst out on your bike but rather how do we as a community uplift everyone and not just stay behind our 10 foot walls and security fences.
  9. So let me try and explain with my limited knowledge: it has all to do with the angles, I am sure some of the more experienced guys will chime in and guide us better. Your bike came with a head angle of 71deg. If you put more travel that angle will reduce but everything else will remain the same. This is what I would call "riding a slap noodle". These folks explain it better https://mbaction.com/geometry-school-head-on-with-head-angles/

  11. 1) Yes, you can increase the travel but I won't go more than 120mm, I have a friend who had a 2015 Anthem and it worked a treat (he's also heavier) 2) No, I have not done this before but why would you want to? If you boost in the front you are still going to have non-boost in the back so selling the set will be quite hard 3) Ya, this is quite easy, you just remove the top bearing cup and fit a standard cup with a smaller ID bearing.
  12. Ya, I do have a few yes, thank you Barry
  13. Thank you for the shout out @RobynEand @ChrisF, much appreciated. @Redhotneoyou're welcome to reach out, even if just for advice on which option, no strings attached.

  15. Wait, scratch that, I have some carbon wheels.
  16. I would definitely convert the HT and get a dual. From a riders point of view a dual is way more forgiving and comfortable than a HT. Thank you very much for all the inputs, I think I am going to go with a flat bar (just because I have everything & I'll be able to increase the stopping power with proper brakes), rigid with tubeless gravel tires and some ZTRs with Hope hubs. I think I am going to gooi a 38T oval (if it fits the frame) with 12 speed at the back. Think it will break 9kg
  17. I have a carbon HT frame I'm keen to turn into a gravel bike. This will be for resale not to keep for myself. Which option in your opinion will be best: 1) Bull horn bars with mtb shifters and brakes (hydraulic) 2) Gravel bars with STIs and cable disc calipers? I have just about everything needed for option 1 but I am also a purest and don't want to build something that's going to be, well, rubbish 😁
  18. To get the helicoil won't be an issue. I also have the kit if needed
  19. If you're in Gauteng I will be able to help in getting it sorted. My guess is that the BB is too long and will be quite simple to swop and bring into alignment. Those square tapered BBs are very cheap.
  20. Please ignore stupid or obvious comments and use the better ones 1) Are you using a NW ring? This may explain why it drops (can be a stupid comment) 2) Is the chain the correct length (again, this can be idiotic) 3) As per NC you can use the middle or outer ring position but if the chain drops then moving the ring won't help much, you'll still get some grinding closer to the top. 4) Are the crank arms straight or do they have a natural bend in the arms around the middle. If straight you won't have much to play with in point 5 5) What's the width of the BB you have installed? You will notice that the BB is most likely a 118 or longer to accommodate the 3x. It is possible for you to get a shorter BB which will eliminate the issue. But, you may need to play with some options or post some kiekies and I can assist. If all else fails it is time to get a new bike
  21. The platform is getting soooooo annoying lately, it is extremely buggy and the latest addition to my frustration is that I can't reply to any messages to ads either on the phone nor the laptop. Here's a screen recording of what's happening. Same on the laptop. I get an email notifying me of a new chat I open the email and click on the reply button It opens the Hub and shows the history of all my chats and then doesn't allow me to open the chat which I originally wanted to reply to. I use Brave browser on the phone and Chrome on the laptop Screen_Recording_20231027_080536_Brave.mp4
  22. Here's my prediction: 1) OP requests opinion on aspect with very little additional information 2) Everyone provides feedback with the very little information provided and ask for clarity on some elements 3) The larger BH community gets into heated discussions regarding opinions and answers given 4) OP dissappears and leaves everyone wondering about the outcome Is it Friday yet?
