  1. It's a Sovietski GPS service (a separate satellite cnstellation) that augments elevation (IIRC). Also, it operates more at higher latitudes - SA is very much mid-latitude, so shouldn't be a concern for us. I guess unless there's a reason to turn it off, just leave it on
  2. Felt really bleak for these guys... shame
  3. Someone got a welder, a pipe bender and a MTB mag subscription for their birthday...
  4. Aramex Global Shopper... but then you pay the local VAT... and you pay duties here. so know your pricing and decide for yourself.
  5. So, as I see it, you are advocating the thread title to be changed to 'Do D!cks belong on the mountain?' eD!ck to coin a phrase!! i think the answer is no, they don't belong on the mountain
  6. Just watch BB height... dropping from 29+ to smaller wheels (and you can ONLY drop) will be a road to Pedalstrikesville. At least you'll know that ANY tyre you fit will have ample clearance
  7. mmm, some Gamin Vector pedals there... ~6k. probably gone by now
  8. You never know until you ask. Good luck, you never know what may happen
  9. YOU GET S-WORKS RIDER TOO NOW??? what a time to be alive!!!
  10. Are those the ones with the pre-polished turds?
  11. Considering that Pt has a 10% HIGHER specific gravity than even gold, you've better hope that it comes with a carbon fork and wheels. You know, to keep the weight down. Will make a lovely descender though. But being quite malleable, you'll probably crash at the first corner at too-high-a-speed with inadequate brakes. I'm thinking it'll be quite sore
  12. There are so many factors to be unpacked here, that a Y/N binary poll is meaningless. When you see 'that' frame (you know what I'm talking about), all sense goes out the window. As does your credit... I think you need a third option - "It depends", then provide an open-ended option for comments. Then best of luck analysing that
  13. This is quiet weird. And as weird as it is, I hope it's not a smoke screen for something more sinister behind it and nothing to do with our old friend Vitamin S. Just hoping, so don't shoot me
  14. more than the OP's budget, but look what you can get for (let's be honest) not much money - https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/263788-swift-attack-full-carbon-road-bike/
  15. You tried Strava segment explorer?
  16. Road.cc did an article earlier this year... http://road.cc/content/feature/213468-cross-chaining-it-really-all-bad I suspect that in the age of 1x setups, the idea is to get chainline optimised on the cassette. On a 2x setup, this can't happen for obvious reasons, hence small/small or big/big being a non-no.
  17. ^^^ This... take the doubt out of the postal service and get your goodies in your grubby mits asap.
  18. You can have any size you want, as long as it's a small.
  19. Yip, that's so much better than a chainring to the back of the neck....

  21. This what we get told when buying online, so seems reasonable
  22. It's a very personal thing. You might find entry level shorts work better for you than the top end Assos. I've had success with First Ascent though others. My advice is to try what fits your budget for now - you have to start somewhere, so if they're a dud, it's not a big loss. Look out for sales - you might get lucky
