  1. There is so much variabilty in the manufacture of components and frames, the bike brands would be defending all sorts of claims of false advertising against them from anyone with a half accurate scale. Besides, the vast majority of advertised weights of components are wrong. Look at weightweenies to see the % difference between claimed weight and actual weight. There are often heated debates about this subject on thier forums. There are a few manufacturers that are notorius for giving MUCH lighter weights for thier products. Its all about marketing...
  2. They seem to have a bit of a cult following among the weightweenie set as they are supposedly the best of the bunch (and the most expensive) in all respects. (even if they arent all that stiff, they are light...) With carbon spokes bonded onto the rims (and hubs?), they will be difficult & expensive to repair. They will have to be sent back to the factory etc. I would be VERY nervous of riding them on our roads!
  3. I had a pair of the WHR540's and also had them true'd several times before my bikeshop replaced them with a pair of handbuilts (I weigh 100kgs...) I think he had several pairs of wheels returned, and he did mention a weight limit of 85kg that he did not know about.
  4. Wish I could have been there. How many people do you think there were?
  5. Awesome pictures Cruxie! Can't help the lump in my throat as I scroll through the shots...

No reply from the email (apart from thier auto reply), so I phoned and got through to Estelle. She was very polite and helpful. They will re-print them, but they have run out of card board, so she doesnt want to send them until they have that sorted. Silly that they dont have cardboard, but impressed at how willing she was to sort it out ASAP. Chris H - try again.

Just sent a polite email telling them that its unacceptable to send the photos like that and would like them sent again. Its still early, so it will be a while till I get a response...

Yes, I thought about that last night. But its all about intelectual property and using the photos elsewhere and all that sort of stuff.

Yes, home delivery. It was inside already when I got home, so I didnt see if it was stuffed into my mailbox or damaged before it got to me. Not that it matters, Actionphoto pictures are not cheap and a piece of stiff cardboard cant be that expensive? Certainly cheaper that reprinting and resending the pictures. I seriously doubt I am the only one who recieved bent photos.
  11. R84.00 for 3 photos and when they finally arrive, they are creased!! They were sent in thier normal envelope, with warnings all over it that it contains photos (like the post office cares), but no cardboard - so of course they are bent and creased. Do I accept that? Or do I phone them and politly ask for new ones to be sent in a more protective envelope? Or do I rant and rave and perform and ask for my money back?
  12. I also saw Sara & Spinney. Famous Hubbers! I also noticed that one or two of the other Argus photos show riders with triathlon bars. Unless my eyes deceive me, I thought they were banned!?

  14. I am closer to 1000 KCal/Hour @ 75%, but I weigh 100kg (on a good day...).

  19. You had better start saving up or planning a bank robbery. They are not coming cheap. Approx. 2800 Euro... Pictures from cyclingnews.com
  20. I also have Hayes disks from 2001/2. The calipers and inners are dirty and don't seem to retract properly so the pads drag in the rotors a bit. I had mine stripped, cleaned and rebuilt and they were fine for a while, but seem to be dragging again...
  21. The question is: 'Are you light enough for the wheels?'
  22. May still be the same route, but different start/finish town. That is what I understood from the insert when PPA mailed the certificates. splat2007-03-15 07:27:26
