  1. Hi all. I am looking for a Jeremy Clarkson Spanner, more specifically the Park Tool HMR-8 - the smaller of the two hammers. I know the suppliers don't have, but somewhere there must be a hammer in a shop that needs a new home. The bigger of the two HMR-4, is available, but I want the smaller one - my problems is not that big. I have contacted all the shops around me - but no luck. Even a very good looking pre played one will be considered. Hopefully TIA
  2. Yes, and it's Worldwide and in most industries. One of the problems is also that there is a shortage of shipping containers in the Far East. And when you can get one to ship your goods, it gets major expensive.
  3. Same here! Also tried the contact lenses, but I get hayfever and tend to scratch my eyes alot. Rode once home with one contact lense - not cool. I had the Adidas Evil Eye's with inserts, but the cost just got rediculas. Looked at Oakley and other options, but my budget did not agree. I actually found the cheapest pair of glasses, JAVWELD, with 5 different lenses, carry case for everything and an insert, for R300.00 The inserts was prescriptions added for R1000. Yes its not Oakley or Adidas quality, but I like it and it fits well. And if something happens, the financial loss is not that big.

    RC Cars

I see I have scratched some old itches for a few. If you start spending again and the partner is not too happy, just tell them its my fault. And yes, I have found a nice entry level crawler kit at Speed Models Tygervalley. R3k is not too expensive for a start. Guys are really helpfull there. I just suggest some who have an itch to stay away there.

    RC Cars

Who has some RC cars? The proper stuff. Not the Makro stuff that runs on AA and AAA batteries. Im thinking of getting a nice crawler. 1/10 scale. And yes, I know its another hobby that can get stupid expensive. It will be nice to take it with in the car when hitting the trails with the bike. Then afterwards have a go with the RC car. Anyone else doing this?
  8. Sell both and buy one awesome mtb
  9. You not happy, get a second opinion. I am not defending them, but shops put a markup on parts. They need to make a profit to stay in business. You pay a price for them to do the work if you can't do it yourself. Its the same in my plumbing business - you pay me to get the correct parts and to fit it. When a client insist to buy the parts, they normally buy the incorrect parts. So take your bike to another shop. Chances are you going to find it cheaper elsewhere, but you probably have to spend more on fuel money to get the bike there. Good luck.
  10. Hi. Welcome to the MTB world. Although there is nothing wrong in taking your bike to the shop to get some pressure in your fork, you don't want to go there every time you want to do it? So yes, buy a shock pump. They not that expensive and jus tlook after it - it will last a very long time. Go then on the fork manufacturer website, if it's a good fork, then download all the info you need. Good luck
  11. Have you tried Dragon's Sports? They are the Giant agents.
  12. With what happened/still happenning in 2020, should there be a Black Friday? Do the shops or the consumers need it or not?
  13. So it works like one of these? My arms feel fantastic after I use this thing.
  14. Sorry, but also not great service from Evobikes. I 100% understand that stock is not allways in shop, but the 3 times now I have queried about an item, different items on different times, and heard nothing back all 3 times. The items is also not super rare depleted uranium, titanium infused items where they need to go into the dark web. And yes, I have bought from them as well as CWC which is litteraly a stones throw from my place. Please guys, if you say you will find out and call back, please do so.
  15. 20mm increase is fine. Your front end will lift - obvious. The head angle with slacken slightly - not bad. BB will lift slightly. Seat angly will slacken slightly. The differences in your bike will be hardly noticed, accept the travel. The matter of losing your warranty, you decide if you want to take that risk.
  16. Maybe he is a guy with few words. It looks like he is moving and might just want to get rid of the bike.
  17. So we know the benefits os a dropper post, and Im in the market for one now. I just finished an entire new bike build just before the lockdown. Great timing hey? Just to keep costs down I just put on a normal post with zero setback so I can start riding and get used to the new bike. It felt just not correct. Sitting too far forward and no room when standing over the top tube. So I bought a setback post and things felt immediately better and as it should. But still wanting the dropper post I started looking around and so far Im not very optimistic. I cant find a dropper with setback clamps. And Im not going to compromise on my fit on the bike just to have a dropper. I ride XC and spend most of the time in the saddle. So, are they available somewhere or is all dropper posts zero setback?
  18. Looks like we might get loadshedding Thursday night of all the bike lights that will be charged.
  19. I also have a weight problem. Did a lot of research and asked for advice. Even contacted CRC direct. I wanted to get the best and strongest wheels I could afford. They suggested a well known brand name trail or enduro rims. They were very helpfull and could have easily suggested the most expensive wheels. I ended up getting Nukeproof Generator All Mountain DH rims and hubs. And the most important thing is, I got it built 3 cross from my wheel builder I have been using for the past 20 years.
  20. Overreacting IMO. The riders should have been asked if they want to ride or not - not make a decision for them. #paybackthemoney
  21. All of the above is a possibility, BUT there is one thing which is always overlooked. Your bottlecage mounts, on the inside of the frame, could also have a welding spot that scratches against the tube. We once had a bike with also a creak that seem to disappear and reappear like out of the blue. You say it appear after a few km ridden. It could be that frame heats up in the sun and then it starts. The last thing we asked from the bike supplier is a special tool that you insert into the bottlecage hole with thread on, and you pull it tight, almost like a pop rivet gun. Needles to say that was the problem from the start and much time and money wasted. Good luck.
  22. Nice looking bike! Your place need some TLC. Just sayin.
