  1. Big shout out to Garmin USA.

I noticed my 3 year old Vector 3S right pedal was separating from the axle. Googled it, it is a known issue.

Phoned them on Thursday, had a chat, received my new pedal today. Didn’t have to send the old one in or anything. Dude said I should throw it in the trash.

Yes I know I am not helping.

  2. I lived in the Netherlands in the early 2000s. In the winter the cops would have road blocks on the fietspad to check your lights. My lights never worked, but they were always in the same place and someone would always warn you. So you would just dismount your bike and push it past the cops, say “goedenavond” to them and remount 100m down the road.

They knew what I was a doing, I knew what I was doing, but you can only get fined if they catch you riding a bike without lights and “regels zign regels”.

it still makes me smile to remember that game.

This is what the Monster used to look like when it was still on the old route going through Mountain Sanctuary and the distance was 70 Km. This route was harder than the current 65km not because of the shorter distance but the actual climbing.

That Mountain Sanctuary climb, jislaaik. Sommer maximum heart rate when pushing up it.

I lived in rustenburg for many years and we used to go stay at MSP plenty. I never managed to get up that climb without putting my foot down. I moered off so many times trying. It is my #1 nemesis.

So I finished this build late on Sunday.

Popped it through the wash today and I must admit this bike is a real head turner!

I struggled to source a BB and eventually settled with buying an overkill Ceramic Speed BB - damn these things spin forever!

Sram force AXS was an easy mount up as always.

I chose a few additional manufacturer extras for this bike - the Bossi titanium stem, seatpost and finishing kit(spacers and top cap) really paid off to make this bike stand out.

As always brilliant Enve AG25 carbon wheels coupled with Maxxis Rambler 45c tires ensures this bike will have only the plushest of rides.

A set of super flared Ritchey WCS carbon bars with some lovely contoured drops finish this build off to give a great first contact with the bike.

Man that stem, spacer, head tube combo is stunning

  5. Well done to everyone who finished, must have been moebi.

lots of “no bad weather, only bad gear” talk but the reality is that most upcountry cyclists don't own the gear for cold and wet because 99.99% of their riding doesn’t happen in those conditions, and it is tough to justify spending R10k on a full Aquaman suit you use once a year.

  6. I always wondered why they don’t include the “how many wash cycles it can survive” test in HRM reviews.

Garmin survived a few, Polar died after one and the Tickr is still going strong because the way it attaches to the strap makes it less likely to be washed.

I think they only make 40 bikes a year, I believe most of there clients die before they every see their bikes

Well then we should also be watching estate sales, although I would be pissed that I couldn’t get buried with it.

These days you wait a year for brake pads, so a timeless steel machine is well worth it in my opinion.

  8. Highlights can be accessed without a VPN, but if you wanna watch tdf live on GCN then you need to follow Frosty’s advice.

After the tour de suisse it seems the obstacles at this years tour are gonna be the three C’s. Cobbles, climbs and covid.
