  1. Had a few issues with my cane creek db inline shock. Sent it in for repair, and it started giving the same problem after the first ride. Immediately got into contact with the international/head office and explained the issue, all dramatic of course stating my disappointment in their product and local service center - visibly copying all parties involved in the correspondence. I returned it for repair, and it seems to hold up now. I personally don't have the time and patience to deal with incompetence, hence getting the manufacturer involved to ensure that it doesn't become a back and forth exercise of trying to get this sorted. Good luck, feel your frustration.
  2. http://www.revolutioncycles.co.za/?page_id=578 If you're considering NOS enduro. I got mine for cheaper though. Might be worth going there and see if they'll come down.
  3. Only place I would consider very rocky is upper canaries at Jonkers.
  4. 29ers sure helps, but it's more to do with technique. Not sure if your issue is whilst climbing, descending or just overall? When climbing rocky terrain, I find that getting out of the saddle helps a lot, especially when it's getting steep. Being able to control the bike underneath you, and having explosiveness to either pedal yourself or hop the bike over obstacles helps. Descending on rocky stuff is all technique, and body positioning. What works for me is a firmer fork, and/or with your weight more backwards to avoid having your shock diving and getting stuck between obstacles.
  5. Take that cassette to an engineering company, ask them to 3d scan it, and what the machining will cost you. Extruded parts like that don't come cheap. As for the rest of the industry, it's seriously overprice when one compares that with motorbikes, and it really gets my goat when marketing/advertising goes on about how advanced and hi tech it is whatever they are doing. BS, I would bet money on that the bicycle industry to date hasn't developed any new technology, and everything is adopted from other industries. So, therefore no serious R&D ever takes place, and at best they are competent with design software like solid works and rhino3d.
  6. Ex works factory cost is usually around 10% of retail price, depending on what margins they run.
  7. If it's making a chirping noise then it's most likely that issue judging from feedback users on the internet.
  8. Having some issues with mine. Sending in next week for 2nd rebuild. Makes a lot of noise - oil/air swishing sound and has little rebound damping on the first third of the stroke. Pressure is still fine I suppose as the sag is still the same. Think there is a dud run with the initial production runs, where seal assemblies weren't done right.
  9. ^^^that welding work looks super neat. Wish other manufacturers could follow suit. I recall my dad's Cannondale (early 90s model) had flawless welding seams. That was sexy AF.
  10. Also entered for the hell of it. My rear shock isn't working so well, so hope to at least finish 2nd form last place seeing as there are so many gunning for last position.

  12. Or is it just an excuse to avoid a patented design? I'm sure proper kinematic modelling would yield the same results in a standard 4 bar design, no? And reading through their design explanation still doesn't answer what exactly the extra linkages improves/makes better. Also, referencing F1 strut suspension, or rather a double wishbone - push rod design, the extra linkage is still just act as an extension of the seat stays (which acts as the push rod) in a 4 bar design. I'm not sold on this, although actual testing might prove otherwise.
  13. I have recently went through the same exercise and also looked at the Kona on Dial'd. Seems like a great deal. "Settled" on a 2015 spez enduro 29er which I got at a "bargain". 160mm of travel is possibly more than I'd ever need riding around Paarl-area, but the geometry is less low & slack, and pedaling this monster uphill is actually comfortable. So it's a bit closer to a trail bike, rather than an #enduro downhill racer, and a capable do-it-all one bike.
  14. Haha, hipsters indeed. Everything carbon fiber is handmade. Bloody pretentious calling it "hangemaak" - probably thinking people will pay a premium for the marketing.
  15. How is trying to kill a cyclist with your vehicle any different to a case of attempted murder where the perpetrator used a knife, gun or baseball bat? This guy should be prosecuted and the law should take its course. There are no sides here, or us vs them. If he walks free from this without any consequence he'll most likely end up bragging around his braai about this incident.
  16. Please do not settle for an apology! I've been hit by a car (although accidental), and it was the worst pain one could experience. Remember, you guys were lucky to get off relatively unharmed. But it could have been much worse and this c*** did not have any regard for you at the time. If he's apologetic now, he's not remorseful at all, only because he got caught. Similar to cheating partners, fraudsters and thieves. They're only sorry because they got caught. *based on the facts that your version of the story is the truth and the information at hand.
  17. Got a new bike recently with 1 x 11 XO1 setup. I am seriouslyimpressed with it, down-shifting to an easier gear is one smooth shift away, 2 max shifts. 2 x 11 makes no sense. The extra weight of the extra 42 sprocket at the back is a total waste where you could just have fitted a smaller 24T chainring, or just HTFU already. With 28/38 chainrings on the shimano system I honestly fail to see its purpose.
  18. Also got only 600 points for a 3+ hour ride, and 2+ hours rides, recorded with strava. How does one query it with Vitality, hopefully not by phoning them?
  19. Yes indeed. The orthopedist said, in my case, that no amount of physio therapy would heal a torn AC ligament. He did however told me to start seeing one after the surgery (~6 weeks), which I decided against and followed my own exercises...which so happened to work just fine.
