Happy with my magnets.
As for membership boards .... velcro straps.
I second this. The velcro straps I got at sportsmans for about R25 work great and are indeed reusable
Depending on if your bike has 2 bottle cages, and whether you use both, I found a viable option for me was to drill out one of the rivnuts for the cage I don't use, and I route my cable through there
Last try, anyone aware of any options for chain tensioners available locally?
I am aware of the Rapidé options, looking to see if anything else is available.
Thanks guys.
Anyone aware of any other options?
Hi,
I have built up an old hardtail and converted to single speed. I am currently using an old rear mech as a chain tensioner, but it doesn't look the best.
Anyone know of any chain tensioners I could purchase locally, either online or in the greater Cape Town area?
I have seen the offering from Rapidé, but am looking around to see if there are any other options.
Any suggestions?

You should just stop with replying on this thread. You are the main contributor at the moment keeping it alive and its title in the active section on BH homepage. No one here is going to come to any agreement
There is a product you can get at lots of pet stores called Pet Corrector. It's just a can of compressed air but the nozzle gives it a loud hissing sound. I'd measure first excluding the quick link. If the chain is good I wouldnt replace.
Then measure again, this time including the quick link, if it is now showing as worn I would just replace the quick link.

Thank you very much @AdamAand @Roulit is very kind of you. I am currently in discussion with Atlehang offline. He does have some cash and will be looking to do some upgrades with it.
I will post an update once I've established the need 😁.
The way I see it: If I am going to pack a fork and a set of wheels there's most probably going to be space to add some other goodies as well 🤪.
Admin should give you an honorary BikeHub plus membership for at least a year for all the help you have given to folks down on their luck.
The amount of parts you offer and give away to people in need is huge.
I have said it before, but you are truly an asset to this community, thank you

Besides cash, did you need to take anything with?

With my luck will win at "die wit Olifant tafel" at the local basaar.
Ahh come on, my 2010 26" hardtail is way cooler than that. It has a rear carbon hoop, did I mention it's green?
Surely that changes your mind

They go as far to say this is not for people who want to do bar spins and tricks...although there is a supposed benefit in the air. But what happens wit it if you have one of the crashes where your bars end up turned all the way around and facing the wrong way? Do you snap that nylon dog leash off or overstretch the springs? Maybe it has some sort of clutch.
According to the article on Bike Radar, it is built to "slip" if a certain amount of pressure is applied to stop it from breaking in those scenarious. You will however need to have it recalibrated after
Not sure where you based, but try Stoke Suspension, they in WC

Do not use links from an old chain to lengthen this one, it will cause issues down the line. I tried a test like that once: I used a brand new SRAM chain and added two links from a chain with around 500km on it. Within the first ride the chain broke on the links I added . Maybe I did something wrong, one will never know.
My suggestion: Get a new chain, I recently saw this which is good value for money:

Dang dude, you are like a legend around here. Every 5th thread I read someone is looking for help and someone else will be like, "Robert can help with that", and sure as hell you always do.
You are indeed an asset to this community, thank you.

The dropped is brilliant for the price. I use the 30.9 - 31.6 shim and it works perfectly. The over bar lever is ok as all of them are. Wish I could have done a below the bar. One point, it doesn't like more than 5nm of torque on the seat clamp though.
Have a look at the Lyne under bar levers. When I ordered they had a V1 and V2 option, one for post with cable clamp at the remote, and the other for cable clamp at the base of the post. Mine has worked well for a few years now and was like R250 or something
Anyone know where I can buy Spank components locally?
Extra points if they have an online store
