  1. Nothing changes. If you zoom on the top pic you will see that what's above the top stem clamp bolt is actually the other side of the stem lit up by the flash and not the steerer tube.
  2. Trust me, I really want to. Been waiting on getting this frame for over a year and now it's just sitting in my lounge...I am really nervous on how borderline it is though
  3. Thanks Grease Monkey, PM sent
  4. Think that's just the reflection of the flash making it look strange.
  5. I am a bit of a parrow arrow so I think I'm going to keep looking for either a different headset or stem. Not a big fan of potential hospital visits. Thanks for your input
  6. The pic was taken after tightening the headset with the top cap, then tightening the stem clamp bolts and then removing the top cap again. So unfortunately all the slack is already gone in the pics...
  7. That's a good option, thank you! Anyone know if there is a local distributor for Fire Eye Components? Don't know if I can wait so long for delivery
  8. Struggling to upload pics from mobile site
  9. Thanks, will keep this in the bank as an option
  10. As in shave the heads top cap? Where would I go to get something like that done?
  11. Sorry, didn't hit reply when I posted
  12. Thanks Droo. It's currently sitting 5mm from the top of the stem, 2mm from the top of the top clamp bolt on the stem. I'd say it runs halfway through the top stem clamp bolt. Do you think this will be safe or cutting it a bit fine?
  13. Hey guys / girls. I've just built all the parts from my old bike across onto a new (second hand but new to me) frame and my forks steerer tube is just too short. From what the lbs advised and from what I've seen online in my searching, in order for it to be safe the steerer tube should be long enough to go just above the top clamp bolt of the stem. In order to achieve this I need to lose 2 to 3mm in stack height. I'm currently running a Cane Creek 10 headset which notes the top stack height as 16mm and the bottom stack height as 12mm alongside a Kore 50mm stem (Not sure of model) which I have measured has a stack height of +- 35mm using a ruler so it might not be 100% exact. The fork I'm running has a straight 1 1/8" steerer and the frame requires a 34mm external cup headset. So my question to you guys is, can you see in my current set up where I could save 2 to 3mm by replacing a part? I am on a budget so obviously the cheapest option would be the best. Thank you in advance for any help / advice you can give me.
  14. Damn, people are seriously passionate about their pedal choice. Just experiment with clipless and flats and stick to what feels good to you. That's what it's all about right, riding your bike and not scientific studies?
  15. ^^This^^ But only if you have the matching chainring with the gold scribble ???? The black XO version just won't do
  16. And it was an insane run, just off the best qualifying time. Disappointing race at the end but you have to be happy for him winning in front of a home crowd
  17. I saw a video of a guy suggesting that if you run tubeless at high pressures to put a small amount of regular glitter in with the sealant. Apparently helps it seal a bit quicker and avoids too much of a pressure drop. I haven't tried this as I don't have a road bike but just throwing it out there, maybe it will help, maybe it will be a waste of time. From what carbon29er says it doesn't seem necessary due to relatively low pressure loss when puncturing in the first place. I can vouch for the fact that as far as you can you should try not use CO2 bombs as this makes the sealant dry up and become useless fast.
  18. I'm not going to get into the debate over whether MTB's should be allowed in road races but your response to this of "get a road bike" is a pretty sucky one. Not everyone is as financially sorted as you seem to be. I for one can most certainly not afford to just buy a bike for each discipline I'd like to ride. Should I not be allowed to race and have fun even if it's in a MTB specific category of the road race because you think "it's a dumb thing to do" ?
  19. Would you consider joining a cycling forum? Weird question to ask on a cycling forum…
  20. Haha, yes agreed, maybe bad advice from my part. Nino is definitely a different breed of machine to anything you will see on rampage but his riding is just as impressive !
