  1. I had a similar issue. LED would turn red while charging, but then nothing once I removed the charger. logged a fault with the LBS I bought from. Black Marlin adds you to a WhatsApp group with Black Marlin, X-Cadey Support, and the shop you bought it from on the group to trouble shoot. In the end my unit was warrantied with a new one. Turns out it was a battery issue.

Would it not be opposite? The wheel's doing 32+ but you're actually going slower (ie: wheel turns more revolutions to get you the same distance /speed/time stuff)

With a big wheel (example), 100 revolutions per minute = 32km/hour, with a smaller wheel it would be (example) 150 revolutions per minute. So when you input a smaller wheel size than your actual wheel it will now only cut out at 150 revolutions and not 100, so more speed (eg 48km/hr).

Numbers above not accurate, just an example.

So would i be correct in saying that adjusting the wheel size on a 29er to 2000mm , it would overide the 32km per hour assistance limit on the specialized?

Yes, put the wheel circumference as the smallest you can find - you'll be getting some extra free speed.

ja - I'll stick with the daypass

I'm not going to spend 1k on the Tygerberg board and another almost 2k on a winelands board all so that I maybe only ride there 6 or maybe 7 times a year

Awesome for the locals. I feel the same about a TMBC membership - I'll get a day pass for the twice a year I ride out that side....

You're missing out if you only ride our trails a few times a year, we have all the good ones ;)

  5. I am biased. I sell Scott. But you are not buying it from me, so hopefully that counts for something.

The new Sparks are phenomenal all rounders, and the 950 hits the value sweet spot. Been riding my Spark for a while now and have do everything from Jonkers Enduro to Wines 2 Whales on it.

And they are not the maintenance headache anyone makes them out to be with integrated cables and hidden shock. Sure the integration means slightly more admin when doing a headset service, but not much. And the internal shock is no added admin at all.

    Do it….

  6. Definitely snake season - in the last 2 weeks we (big group so chances of spotting them are higher) have seen 3 puffies in Lourensford (2 in the trail, 1 in the water canal next to the trail), and a mate rode straight over a big mother of a puffy while speaking to me climbing up Helderberg. I think he soiled his pants when he saw it. Puffy didn't seem to rushed to get off the trail either....

Do these work with Deore M8100 brakes ?

They do. Clamps directly onto the handlebar, so you just need a bit of space between the brake mount and your grip. Can't imagine there won't be enough space unless you have very small hands and run the levers very close to the grip.

  8. I've been on the new Spark for a while (900). Super happy with it. Coming of some big bikes over the last few years (Yeti SB130, Scott Ransom, Transition Sentinel) - it is awesome to have a bike that pedals so well and is so light, but still very confident on anything Jonkershoek or Helderberg has...

That being said, I'm not on an RC. I would do the normal one if you wanted to do more techy trails.

Full disclosure, I sell Scott bikes. Give me a shout if you want a killer deal on one...

Vitality works on a system of paying off the watch over two years by doing your exercise and meeting their criteria. So, it actually only technically belongs to you once you’ve “paid” it off.

Well there is no situation in which they take the watch back, you are liable for the cost the second you sign that contract. If they come for anything they will come for the cash.

So the way I see it, as long as you pay them you haven’t done anything wrong. Same goes for cell contracts. I have sold some of my old phones before contracts were up where I bought a new phone cash. Still paid the old phone off. Don’t see anything wrong with that.

Anyway, this whole thing is a bit off topic.

Dishonesty pops up in so many places

I'm not gonna do it myself, seems like a good way to lose money.

But how is this dishonesty? You buy a device under a "contract" and then sell it. Same as selling any other item you have purchased.

I too am an Apple fan with iPhone, iPad etc. But I personally see no practicality in the Apple Watch. True to what you said - it is a smart watch first - fitness watch second. BUT - isn't that what the Ultra is attempting to address? In my opinion - it still falls WAY short.

To your other point - as not to wanting to wear Garmin every day? Absolutely your personal choice but I am curious as to your reasons. Can't be looks - sheesh their watches are looking modern now - compared to say 5+ years ago. Can't be functionality - I feel it can do 99% of what the Apple watch can do - but then with that a 1000 more things (sure many of which most people will never use). Can't be screen as the Garmin AMOLED is very close to that of other smart watches (i.e. Samsung/Apple)

I wear my Fenix daily, but my guess as to why people wouldn't - the sheer size of it.

I sold my Apple 7 series watch recently just because I felt it was too dainty and fragile, but I have to say one  thing (one of the few things IMO it does better than the Garmin) was form factor. It was damn comfy, I hardly knew I had it on when riding, gyming, daily lifing. The Fenix is huge, I am always aware of it, I don't ride with it because it is bloody painful on my hands to ride with (I ride with a bar mounted gps unit). I do use it for gym though, and although the HR is more accurate and actual workout functionality is much better, it is uncomfortable to wear. I don't run, so can't comment on that....

Still prefer the Fenix  for a number of reasons, one being the once monthly charge as opposed to the daily charge, but when it comes to smart watch capability - eg: answering my phone, controlling music from my watch, etc the Apple watch was amazing. The Apple watch has it's place - if you are after a smart watch first, then an exercise watch the Apple watch wins hands down, if you are after an exercise watch first the Garmin will win - it's not exactly comparing apples with apples.

I like the idea of the Apple Watch Ultra, not enough to trade my Feinx for one, but maybe by the 3rd of 4th iteration it may well be good enough to become my daily....

    Hold my beer…

and remeber im the king of “i told you so” on here when it comes to weather🤣

i hope im wrong though. Really keen, so keen im considering going there tomorrow for the last sunshine day this week.

So Jonkers is my go to when it is raining / has rained. It drains extremely well, and takes alot more than 6mm to make the trails sloppy. Will be slippery, but will be fine…
