  1. See my above post. ^^ Your parcel should be at local post office tomorrow if not there already! Mine arrived at inward depot on Friday and was at post office this morning.
  2. Just e-mail jimccustomerservices@postoffice.co.za and ask for the local tracking number using the tracking number starting with "EE". They respond within a ay or so. I have to say Post Office was actually very good in my experience. Parcels took roughly 8 working days to get to the JIMC, and from there was at my local post office within 2 working days. Just drop by ure post office about 2 days after ure parcel has arrived in SA and ask to see the international journal and look for ure name. Import tax and duties work out allot cheaper than with DHL, so if you can afford to wait 2 weeks for a parcel standard shpping is actually quite a good option.
  3. Picked up my Stumpy 6Fattie on Friday. Best decision I've ever made, such a fun and versatile bike, could spend the whole day on it!!
  4. Well my Med 2016 Trance 2 is officially up for sale if anyone is interested!
  5. Eish, if they ever allowed my Mrs to become a member I'd be in the dog box
  6. I don't know about the full bike, but I enquired about the frame with rear shock - and that is gonna be around 22k.
  7. When you scavenge every room in the house to find something you can sell to afford your next upgrade! (And occassionaly try convince yourself that you can sell the car becuase a 70km commute every day is do-able on a mountainbike)
  8. Yeah, I think I will put my feelers out to see if anyone wants it. Just a pity coz I have put lots of work into it - 1x11 conversion, raceface cranks, stem, and bars! But I guess I can carry that over to a new bike.Any which way I think I am gonna lose a pretty penny with resale!
  9. Dam... was hoping u were gonna say 180+! I am also 178 on a med, and it has been feeling like I need a larger bike - was hoping it's just in my head, but I don't think so. Oh well... this might just give me an excuse to buy a large 2017 haha
  10. Currently riding a 2016, and kicking myself for not waiting for the 2017. So many improvements, shorter chainstay, longer tt, and best of all Fox 34s instead of 32s!! If your budget can manage it go 2017. Colpurs are awesome too (agree the red and silver is butt ugly - Im respraying mine in a month or two). No brainer in my opinion!! Edit: longer head tube, not top tube.
  11. Some pics of the crankset installed. For those of tou who know - is that spacing on the non drive side normal? From what I underatand it is supossed to look like that...
  12. I'm on a Giant Trance 2 - 140mm travel front and rear. Do 50km+ rides, and I am not the fittest of guys. I feel very comfortable on it. Although, for longer rides I sometimes wish I had a 29er. So if your choice is between Trance or Stumpy I would go Stumpy! Either way you won't regret either one of those bikes!
  13. So my package from DHL arrived in the post today. Installed my race face atlas cranks (165mm) in all of 10mins. I didn't swap out the bottom bracket - just kept the shimano press fit in as it is still smooth. Rode it around the block, and to be honest I can't feel a massive difference. Although I must say my legs aren't pushing into my gut anymore - happy days! I will report back after a propper ride this weekend!
  14. My 175mm was way too long, so I wanted a 170mm, but the crank I wanted was only available in 165mm. I will be getting it on Monday from Chain reaction, so hopefully it works for me. Agree with you on the future being 170mm, just makes sense...
  15. Hi, Just for interest, is anyone out there running 165mm or 170mm cranks on their trail bike (or xc for that matter)? If so how tall are you and what is your experience with it? Not looking for the full scientific theories behind it (enough of that on google), just your experiences with it - specifically on how it affects your climbing.
  16. That is the next planned upgrade... Will definitely give him a call when the $ are more plentiful.
  17. It is really going to depend on your fitness, but from the sounds of it that isn't much of a problem! Personally, when I know there are gonna be hills I make the change from a 34t to a 32t, I can really feel the difference from the 0.809 (34/ 42) to the 0.76 (32/42). The only problem I do see going to the 30t is that you will sping out quickly as your biggest ration will be 2.7 (30/11) as opposed to 2.9 (32/11). If I was you I'd keep the 32t oval, theory goes you will be just as efficient uphill as with the 30t, and then you still have reasonable top end.
  18. That is not a normal camber!! Very very nice man! If you don't mind me asking, what did those Ohlins set you back?
  19. Thanks for allthe replies guys, questions definitely answered. Will be using the DHL option next time for sure!
  20. Hi guys, I stupidly selected to have my order delivered with standard shipping before doing my homework about how it actually get here with that as opposed to DHL. Anyway, I have read some pretty bad things about the standard shipping, and my question is: 1. How long can I expect to wait for my tracking number to work (sent with TrakPak, and once I enter tracking number CRC supplied me with on the TrakPak tracking website they say they have no record of it)? 2. How do I get my local tracking number once it arrives in SA? 3. How long can I realistically expect to wait before the package will arrive at my closest Post Office? 4. Do I pay VAT and associated duties at the Post Office? For context, the package has handlebars and stem in it, so should not weigh much or be too big. Cheers!
  21. I am in the fortunate position where I have relatives with both of these bikes (2016 models). I love both these bikes - for their respective purposes! In Western Cape area it is a very easy choice - Stumpy any day of the week, I just feel so much more confidence on any technical section with the Stumpy over the Camber, with very little sacrifices in speed and climbing ability (although the Camber is slightly better up due to the seating position). In Gauteng, I would take the Camber for the simple reason that you can't really use the Stumpy to it's full potential here - everything is flat and fast (where I ride anyway). Alternative way to look at it, if you enjoy bombing down the hills - the Stumpy is your bike, you will be left wanting with the Camber. If you are more in it for the long XC style rides with the occasional technical section or descent I would say go for the Camber, although the Stumpy won't disappoint you in this regard, it is just not as efficient in terms of power transfer as the Camber and feels allot more cushy So long story short, my personal preference is Stumpy, it just gives you so much confidence on the descents, and is fast enough for me on XC rides, but I will not want to do a Joberg2C or an Cape Epic on it. Hope my babbling helps!
