  1. See this will get tricky when buying online (overseas) where I cannot fit it. But read through the reviews of that specific shoe, they say you should go one size bigger. I have thin, but long feet. Will keep sizing in mind when buying.
  2. Okay cool. Well, wouldn't it be slightly better for climbing loose terrain? To keep your feet mounted and to keep traction? This is one of the reasons I want to maybe go clipless. But I hear your point, Myles. I just see everyone (almost) rides clipless on the trail. I am currently riding with my New Balance tekkies, which I don't like because that is not it's purpose. Was thinking about getting Salamon's, but can I use that for MTB. Also, their pricing is little ridiculous for a pair of shoes. I also like riding with cycling socks and I don't want to ride with skating/sneaker type of shoes.
  3. Hello all, I want to buy my first MTB shoe pair. My knowledge on MTB shoes is very weak and would like some recommendations from you guys who went through a couple of shoes. Okay, so my budget is R1000 (still need to get clipless pedals too). Currently looking at getting this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/dmt-borealis-mtb-carbon-italy-shoes/rp-prod150006 To be honest, I only went for this due to the words 'Carbon' and secondly the price. Is carbon shoes any good? Or should I go for other material? Also noted that it does not come with cleats. Will any cleats fit that specific shoe? Overall on what I do: I like doing ride (40km) over the weekend and will be doing the Karoo2Coast next year. If this is necessary, I am a very light rider. Any advice will be appreciated. ~ André
  4. Can you stream it somewhere online? Keen to watch it.
  5. Thanks, Myles. Got a total sum of R1,121.18 according to my calculations. Will do a bit of research on the shoe before jumping to conclusion.
  6. RIP Gregory Basson. Your family, friends, co-workers and fellow riders will be in my prayers.
  7. Looking at buying this from CRC: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/dmt-borealis-mtb-carbon-italy-shoes/rp-prod150006 What import duties am I looking at and total cost? Sorry, I this answer is already asked. Thanks.
  8. Majik : Bloemendal : Hillcrest : Contermanskloof : Meerendal Corridor Distance: 38.8km Elev Gain: 813m Avg Speed: 17.1kph Calories: 1,218 C Yet again an awesome ride! Although, I had a wipe-out going down BloemenNice. Forgot to adjust my tyre pressure, noob mistake... Left bar end plug with the ESI logo got scratched away and there is a hole in my left cycling sock, which is a bummer due to the fact that it was my first ride with it. Pickled with a group towards the top where you need to choose between Bloemdaler and Contermanskloof. Oom Duim, Johan, Freddy, Dwerg, cannot remember the others. Unfortunately, I lost them at the turn, rather than going straight. Also saw the legend, Willem Engelbrecht on the trail. Man, he got some serious calves. Going down with another rider through Contermanskloof, the rider experienced a sealing leak in his rear tyre. Went down on my own, eventually meeting another rider (Steven). Ask for directions to get back to Meerendal. Wanted to stop at Expresso, but time was not on my side and needed to get back home for an appointment. http://i.imgur.com/DSTqxFW.jpg
  9. Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't 11-42 on a 10spd the highest you can go?
  10. Never heard of the brand, but on their website, the cam packs some nice features. Wanting to get me a GoPro 5 later on... My DSLR is quite bulky to carry along rides and would really like to capture the moments with it. Not only for rides but when going on an adventure (if it is climbing Table Mountain, a day out with friends or even camping). Although will wait and see how things turn out.
  11. Bump. Going again this Saturday, if someone is interested, thanks.
  12. What action camera do you use? I presume it is a GoPro 5 with a gimbal?
  13. Basically on a similar package as you with Vox. 20mb VDSL + 200GB w/ monthly rollover (meaning unused data stacks up). We currently have just under 500GB for the month and we are paying R599pm.
  14. Eish, Helkom... So glad we moved to Vox for our ISP. Smiling ever since.
  15. Two things: 1. Thanks for uploading in 60FPS 2. Respect, I would pee myself to jump like that Can see you really have confidence on the bike while riding/jumping. Landing is butter smooth and love your riding style. Nice video.
  16. Was on my way to home when it drizzled here in Durbanville. Was hoping the drizzle can clean my bike.
  17. What a morning! The weather was perfect for cycling, except for a light breeze, but I was thankful for it for cooling me down. The trial was quite busy this morning with a few groups riding. Today I tested out two things: My new computer and cassette and boy was I impressed! Still need to work on my climbs as it is my Achilles heel. Other than that, it was an awesome ride. Afterward, I stopped for a Latte at Expresso Coffee Shop. Underneath the picture is the link to my workout. Any Garmin users who can help me share it easier? Like for example the way Strava's sharing works? So that you can see the whole map with a short summary but without a link, if you understand what I mean. Also, is there any groups that ride on Saturday? I really would like to join a group each Saturday morning early. http://i.imgur.com/iemPeo4.jpghttps://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1535031540#.WIMEFgLvfpY.link
  18. Not sure if I am allowed to do this, but here goes. Friday bump, still looking. Just a disclaimer, the rider should be a part of the Tygerberg MTB Club.
