  1. Glad to hear everyone is alive and hopefully won't sustain permanent injuries. Surely there must be cameras on the highway?
  2. I would think you could get at least the new series 105 groupset for that kind of money. Seems expensive to me
  3. I'm just realising who you are and remembering your story. That was a tough time, I'll buy some tickets
  4. 11sp chain on a 10sp cassette works even better. The thinner chain means there's more room
  5. SLR1's are very light, SLR0's are super light
  6. Giant SLR 1 wheels aren't quiet, they're silent
  7. Schwalbe Pro one tubeless, one year, 4000km and have never stopped to repair a puncture
  8. How do you think those motorists coming the other way will react to the next cyclist... completely distain? If you get cut up by a car and scream, swear and shout its the following cyclists that are ultimately met with hatred. I think we have to do better with our PR. There was a fellow hubber that had a bad incident with a 4x4 on Rosmead earlier this year and they ended up having a beer and talked it out. I thought he was mad initially but his actions were so spot on. Well done that man.
  9. It's not everywhere. I cycled for 5 weeks in London in July/August and didn't even use my crazy flashing lights. I never once felt I danger in over 800km. Cars would give me such a wide berth that the car coming in the opposite direction would hoot at them. When the road was narrow cars would patiently sit behind and wait until it was safe to pass. It was crazy/weird.
  10. I have often seen Facebook rants where the tone and quantity of comments is truly quite scary. I know we are subject to the terrible standard of driving on SA's roads but we have to resist adding fuel to the fire. It's one thing not come to a complete stop in a dodgy area, it's quite another to blast through red lights at a pedestrian crossing at 40km/h at 11am on a Sunday in Fish Hoek/ Kalk Bay/Camps Bay
  11. I ride a motorbike and a bicycle nearly every day and as such I'm generally at the front of the queue when sitting at the robots. I have noticed the gradual increase in motorists jumping red lights at nearly every intersection I stop at... and not just by a second or two, they're getting really flagrant. By the same token I rode around the peninsula this weekend and saw road bikes doing the same thing. All through Sea Point and then through Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay etc. I stopped at a light and a guy on a black Spez and his friends on a tandem came flying through... and then they stopped for breakfast 1km later? WTF It seems we're are own worst enemy, shouting at cars but doing the same. Relax guys, don't worry about your Strava average speed
  12. I just found this on FNB's website. A reversal is not possible without the other parties consent which kinda defeats the purpose but is understandable. It would be chaos if reversals could be initiated freely. https://www.online.fnb.co.za/rhelp_0_15/OB_SA_Downloads/Payment_Reversals.htm
  13. Asking for myself but nothing to do with the bike hub, I bought some parts for a motorbike from a guy that was recommended by many people.P.s. we are both with FNB
  14. Is there anything the bank can do to retrieve your money if you have made an EFT payment but have not received the goods?
  15. My American Classic V30's are tubeless and don't have a sealed rim bed. They are considered 'proper'.
  16. Not true. Rim tape seals spoke holes. A tubeless rim has a specific edge on the inside rim to hold the tubeless tyre securely.
  17. Buy 4 from CRC to make it worthwhile, they are half the price
  18. It's a sad day when we start riding with bullet proof vests
  19. My unscientific opinion... I tried oval for 9 months and my morning commute starts on Kloof Nek Road. I like it on flat or downhill but on a steep climb it requires constant power throughout the pedal stroke whereas a round ring almost gives you a 'rest' in the dead spot of the pedal stroke which is only highlighted on a long, steep climb.
  20. A workstation folds up and minimal tools are required, allen keys and grease takes care of 90% of jobs
  21. The question is how to prove those marks on the frame were made by the bike shop. Difficult situation. Horrible to say but you've got to learn to do all this stuff yourself. Apart from rebuilding forks/shocks the rest is very, very, very simple. There's a video on everything on either the GCN or Park Tool YouTube channels.
  22. You have to specifically ask canyon to send you a VAT receipt when ordering, they won't send it after.
  23. I had some parts done on my car a few years ago and the finish is incredible so I guess it depends on workmanship.
  24. Let us know the outcome. I do like the Fabric brand but haven't tried their saddles
