  1. Jérôme Clementz was recently on vacation in South Africa to unwind after a hectic season racing the Enduro World Series where he finished third overall. He brought along his Cannondale Habit for a safari ride in Botswana followed by a spot of trail riding with some locals in Cape Town. We interrupted Jérôme's holiday one afternoon for an interview and, of course, a quick peek at his bike. View full article
  2. I am in the market for a new bike and have finally narrowed it down to these 2 bikes. Scott Spark 910 or Cannondale Scalpel Si 3 They are similarly priced and have a very similar spec with the Cannondale have an XTR drivetrain over the XT for the Scott. The main thing that puts me off the Cannondale is Lefty shock.. perhaps someone can give me positive feedback on it that will help me over come this. If it had a Fox fork my decision would be made already. What I dont like about the Lefty shock is it limits your wheel options and I already have 2 sets of spare wheels.. but if I were to damage a wheel in a multistage race I think, could be wrong of course, it would be far easier to source a "normal" wheel than a Lefty wheel to continue. Is there no twisitng of the fork under braking on the Lefty? What I like about the Cannondale is the lifetime warranty on the frame, this is important to me seeming as every MTB I have had thus far I have had a claim on the frame for cracks. Spark only has a 5 year warranty which is ample because IMHO the lifespan of a MTB is about 5yrs. I do long rides/races and multiday events. So want a bike that is easy to handle and comfortable for long distances. The Cannondale I think is more of a 1 day racer but I could be wrong? I am a heavy rider - current weight is 98kgs although trying to get to 90kgs but cant see myself ever going below this....
  3. Hi to all , not sure how the poll works but here it goes: I am a 3D designer/ modeler, I designed a Cannondale drop stem that is shorter than conventional stems and drops more and I would love to get some opinions. (find attached pictures) The manufacturing cost of the stem came out a lot more than I hoped for. So what would you pay for such a stem and do you feel there is a need for stems like these? Also if any body can do CNC work can you please contact me. Thanks for your time.
  4. First Look Friday is an introduction to the gear that we are currently testing for review. This week we're featuring Cannondale's new Scalpel Si; Specialized Audax road shoes and Continental mountain and road tyres. Click here to view the article
  5. I'm hoping there is some mechanics that can help me as this is driving me nuts! I'm trying to adjust my Shimano 105 11 speed FD but just can't seem to get it right. I have followed the Shimano instructions but no luck. Main issue is that when I'm in the big chain ring and 2nd gear from the top at the back the chain catches on the inside of the FD. (FD in top trim) When I correct this issue the chain catches the outside of the FD when I'm in big chain ring and smallest sprocket. (No trim) The other issue that I picked up is that if I use the cable routing through the adapter to the right of the fixing bolt I can get no leverage from my STI and shifting is almost impossible. I tried both positions offered by the adapter but it simply wont work. Hence I had to revert back the the traditional way of fixing the cable to the left of the fixing bolt and bypassing the adapter. It seems like I simply cannot get this setup. Maybe worth mentioning I've been setting my gears myself all my life, from Shimano 8 speed to Campy 10 speed - never had any issues.
  6. Hi everyone I got given a Cannondale Blend bib as used by the old racing team before they became USN. Its an awesome bib with great fit and chamois. I want to get more but I have no idea who produced these or where I can get hold of more. Even if they are not branded. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. So, its time to get a new MTB. I'm set on either the new Dale scalpe si or a pyga stage custom build with RS 1 fork, and more a less same spec as the dale. (Xx1 line build) What do you guys think? Any other ideas? Looking at moving over to full mtb race schedule - stages/marathon/xco type races. Im 178cm / 69kg. Used to race road bikes. All opinions welcome!

  10. After hearing many mumblings about a new Cannondale and then spotting an unbranded prototype at the Absa Cape Epic, it was clear that there was a new bike coming soon. And here it is, introducing the all-new Cannondale Scalpel-Si. Click here to view the article
  11. Hello Everyone, I went riding today and had my wife come fetch me as we were heading off somewhere afterwards.......I took the rear wheel (26") off (I have a Cannondale Scalpel 3 - DT-Swiss Rim - Lefty Hub) in order to fit the bike into the back of her car and forgot the rear wheel behind. When I went back to fetch it it was gone. I don't have the $$$$ for a new rim, tyre, hub, spokes, disk, etc (i just bought the bike so i'm on a strict budget now) and was hoping someone knew where i could get a second hand one or a good deal on a new one? Thanks for the assistance.
  12. Manuel Fumic has been racing professionally for well over a decade and has been a regular on the cross country World Cup circuit. He does much of his pre-season training in Cape Town and was most recently in Stellenbosch to train with German national team ahead of the Olympics later this year. We chatted to Fumic about the World Cup events, his approach to mountain biking, training in South Africa, this year's Absa Cape Epic and how he believes young riders should be approaching the sport. 13. Fans of the Cross Country World Cup series will know Manuel Fumic as the guy who wears baggies and is almost always up there near the front. They will also remember the German and Italian Marco Fontana lighting up the 2013 Absa Cape Epic with their flamboyant riding and jumping (and they were both wearing baggies). 14. I know this is can be one of those annoying threads, but as its almost impossible to test these bikes out in the real world, I just wanted to get another person's opinion (real world or not). Both go for roughly the same price. The Vipa is a full XTR bike (XTR9000) while the Scalpel is X01. As a matter of personal preference, I prefer SRAM but I have read rave reviews of the new XTR. I really, really like the look of the Lefty, but have never ridden one, so I cannot tell whether it will perform better than the Fox that comes on the Momsen. The Lefty 2.0 is included on the Scalpel. For reference I currently ride a 9kg Orbea hardtail. So I will be coming from a very stiff, responsive frame.
  15. Hi guys Looking at beautifying my wife bike a bit (Cannonade Scalpel), and a minor upgrade. She's running SRAM Avid Elixir 5's atm, which is also integrated to her X9 shifting levers. I'm looking at upgrading to either Elixir 9's or a total change to the Hope Tech 3 V4's. On the Sram Avid Elixir 9's I want to anodise the actual lever and the clamp. On the Hope Tech 3's I will anodise the lever and the reservoir cap. Has anyone removed a lever from the Elixir 5 or 9's, the holding pin looks permanent. I have a set of pink Jagwire brake lines on her Elixir 5's atm, so if I went Elixir 9's then it is a straight transfer, they use the same fittings from what I can see. If I went Hope Tech 3's then it is a total rip and replace. Logic tells me to go Elixir 9's, Whats everyone's experience with them. G

  17. Cannondale has launched a brand new SuperSix Evo, with a complete redesign of the original model first launched in 2011. The Evo has been a very successful bike and won all sorts of races, from stage races to bunch sprints; it's really been a good all-rounder. The new Evo, though, is lighter, stiffer, more compliant and gets some aerodynamic upgrades, according to Cannondale's claims.
  18. Looks like CX is heading back to the world of sus' with Cannondale releasing this little beauty. I remember the old Rockshox attempts for Paris Roubaix and they fell away pretty quickly in favour of 3 layers of bar tape. This how ever looks a load of fun. http://cdn.velonews.competitor.com/files/2015/06/19-659x440.jpg full article over @ Velonews here.
  19. Hi guys, forgive me if I'm posting on the wrong forum....The Hub has become quite bewildering.....So my missus needs to stop off at the local chemist this afternoon. I notice that parked outside the adjoining cafe is a beautiful Cannondale, Dura-Ace shifters, beautiful DT Swiss wheels....really kitted out and but seriously blinged with a great big padlock on the saddle rails ....I asked the 'owner', dressed in a very well used blue overall and gumboots, where he bought such a beautiful machine. He laughs and tells me that it belongs to his boss who lets him use it daily.......SERIOUSLY!!!!! I'm not convinced...........(Roodekrans, Roodepoort)

  22. Looking at making a big upgrade for my bike and need some advice on my options; A cannondale supersix evo 105, Fondriest TF3 or TF2 with 105 I also don't know if the difference between the TF2 and TF3 is worth it, can anyone help please!
  23. Hi, Was wondering it it is possible to convert a 2013 90mm Lefty (New Lefty PBR 90 29) to a 100mm Lefty? From what I can tell the upper air seal is limiting the travel. Don't know why though? For geometry purposes maybe?
  24. Please keep a lookout for my bike (black and dark grey Cannondale). Three dark coloured men threw me off my bike just outside Stellenbosch (on R44) on Saturday, 18 October 2014 and drove away with my bike in the direction of Cloetesville. Thank you!
