  1. So entries are opening in less than two weeks for next years event. September entries for locals R380 and from October R420 Are there any newbies contemplating doing the down run?Are there any experienced runners who can help the novices out with trying to balance riding and running training without loosing your family?
  2. In our cycling community we constantly have people doing extreme things and pushing the envelope to become pioneers in their own right. From the first guys doing two laps around Johannesburg in the 947 , to the first guys Everesting on a bike. Well, we now have a pioneer here in our own little cycberville community too, Tombeej as he is known to us became the first person (as far as research has shown) to do the Amashova Classic "Twice" so to speak. He departed Suncoast Casino(The End) in the early hours of the morning 02H00 and cycled solo all the way up the route to Pietermaritzburg (The Start) in the pitch darkness of the night with only the stars and moonlight for company. Once there he climbed into his A Batch Seeding Slot and then rode the Race the way the "normal" people did. Now as we all know , if its not on Strava it never happened, so here are some screenshot of the proof So pinging Mr. Tombeej, please come and give us a detailed event report.....
  3. So I'm considering an Everesting attempt and I would really appreciate the input of Grey Stripe holders or anyone else who has also considered the crazyness. Firstly, I have chosen a hill because it is reasonably long (4km), it has decent elevation gain (315m), the road is pretty quiet (max 10 cars per hour) and it has some nice tree cover (maybe 40%). The hill has an average grade of 8% with several sections of maybe 20% on the corners. Although the road is tarred I don't own a road bike, so will be doing it on my 13kg MTB. Any training advice would also be appreciated. One concern is that I have chosen a hill too steep and I'll blow? Another concern is that although I'm quite fit for anything up to 60km, I have never done anything more than 130km, and am wandering if the 220km is doable?
