  1. A cycling shop and add or detract from the cycling experience, i am sure we all have stories to tell, i share mine. 1. Take bike for a service, choose a pair of bar ends, ask mechanic to fit, he replies that he has a pair in the work shop, these are fitted foc Cycle Lab Fourways. 2. Want to purchase a pair of MTB shoes that are on special, no stock, shop will call me when in stock, i pay for these as i wan't to ensure i get them at the sale price, when i visit later to collect, the system shows that I have already collected, shoes was booked out on my cell, definitely not me, i was at work on this day, branch manager will investigate, get a call 2 days later, matter resolved, they courier the shoes to my house - Cycle Lab Lynnwood. 3. I negotiate discount on a Stratos AL 2 last week in March, tells salesman i need to think about it for a few days (needs to soft talk wife), then lock down happens, CL drops the price of Merida 120-600 by R 10 000 during lo ck down, i purchase, order is assigned to Boksburg branch, i visit to collect after lock down, it turns out size M can not accommodate a water bottel in the triangle (Merida ?), tell them i am no longer interested in Merida, want to purchase the Stratos, problem - list price is R 4 000 more than what i negotiated at Fourways branch 5 weeks ago, they call Fourways to confirm, no problem, discount price by R 4 000. Boksburg does the basic foc set up, no master bike fitter at the smaller Boksburg branch though (i have an issue with left knee pain, I call Bradley Potgieter at Fourways (master bike fitter, pro rider), no problem, come through, i will have a look. The cleat fitment turns into a complete bike fitment, walk away almost 2 hours later, fee - NIL Thank You Cycle Lab.
  2. On Saturday 24 June, 2017, I'm riding 100 Miles on Zwift at Cycle Lab Fourways to raise awareness and funds for Qhubeka. More than half-a-million kids walk for more than a hour a day to get to school. A Qhubeka Buffalo Bike has been proven to improve attendance and focus and therefore results for kids who receive them. Kids earn their bikes through the Study to Learn programme. The details are here: http://qhubeka.org/2013/?page_id=962 Please support my project. I've committed to raising the funds for 4 bikes. They cost just R 2,850 each. It's really easy to donate. Just click on this link to GivenGain https://www.givengain.com/ap/100IndoorMilesforBikes/ Any donation will be gratefully appreciated. And, you can have the dubious pleasure of coming to Cycle Lab on 24 June to watch me ride my 100 Miles. Thanks Hubland. I know you'll help me out.
  3. We are looking for passionate cyclists and sales people to represent our brand and sell memberships for the Cycle Lab super cycling club in Boksburg, Lynnwood and Fourways. Basic and commission. Contact Jean on 0613729146 or jeanvdm@morecycle.co.za
  4. http://www.fin24.com/Companies/Financial-Services/old-mutual-unit-buys-largest-sa-golf-store-20151202 It is quite interesting that Old Mutual sees the upside in the top end of the middle class. Hopefully it also means a new executive structure and management structure as Cycle Lab in particular must be one of the most undervalued brands in SA at present. PS: Is Cycle Lab really our largest Cycling Retailer? I would think that Specialized and their concept stores would push more product in terms of units and turnover.
  5. Thank you for great and friendly service on Saturday. You made the shopping for a new bike experience easy and pleasant. My list of demands were high and you met each and every one of them. The Teacher is very happy with the Merida, and the setup seems perfect, she can’t stop smiling. Always a pleasure dealing with Rodney, will be back, thanks!
  6. The new Cycle Lab Megastore opened its door on the 8th November. Although announced as a ‘soft’ opening , over 2500 cyclists visited the store on the opening Saturday with many of them picking up their last minute bits ‘n pieces prior to the 94.7 Cycle Challenge. Click here to view the article
  7. In what’s been punted as one of the largest leisure and sporting retail deals in the industry for many years, MoreGolf (PTY) Ltd announced its acquisition of Cycle Lab – the largest cycling retailer in South Africa. MoreGolf is also acquiring a number of additional cycling related businesses including the PWC Cycle Park and the online fitness platform Fittrack. These new businesses will be housed within a new division called MoreCycle. Cycle Lab is the market leader in South Africa’s fastest growing sport, has 12 stores countrywide and is the only national cycle chain. MoreGolf’s Stephen Reardon, who will lead the newly formed business alongside Cycle Lab’s Andrew McLean, views the acquisition as a platform for the future development of a best in class retail cycle chain. The MoreGolf group includes The Pro Shop, World of Golf, Golf Villages and playmoregolfSA, some of the best known names on the local golfing scene. “MoreGolf has managed to stay ahead of the curve in terms of extending the retail component of golf to include lifestyle aspects of the game,” says Reardon. “It’s a formula that has served us well for 37 years and we are confident the same philosophy applied to cycling will grow and redefine the business end of this sport within South Africa.” The acquisition is good news for cycling enthusiasts, who will see the MoreGolf passion and proven excellence in customer focus, after-sales service and lifestyle platforms extend to the cycling space. “What has set us apart from competing brands is our ability to remain dynamic in a category that has been fraught with stagnation over the last few years,” says MoreGolf MD, Rhys Hughes. “We have achieved in excess of 30% growth over the last three years. With the sport of cycling on such an impressive growth curve, there is definitely a gap in the market to provide a one-stop solution to enthusiasts at all levels, from recreational to professional.” Cycle Lab founder and current CEO, Andrew McLean, will remain on board in an executive role within the new structure, and brings to the table an enviable reputation within the industry. As a professional cyclist, regular co-host of SuperCycling and the brains behind the Cycle Lab concept, McLean’s involvement is integral to the future of MoreCycle. “The acquisition represents a new chapter in the Cycle Lab story, and one that will bring with it fresh business strategy and direction,” says McLean. “My role is to keep tabs on the needs of the market. I am confident that we will revolutionise the way cyclists of every calibre shop, learn and develop in their chosen sport.”
