  8. Hi Everyone, Just wanted to show of my new office desk as it has bicycle parts in and i'm super stoked about the results. I made a mould and concrete mix, added the chain and gears(I used a sram parts), then threw the concrete mix in the mould with mesh to make it stronger. I then made the legs and waited for the table to set, took about 4 days. I then polished and sealed it.
  9. Good afternoon folks! Hope those who cycled this weekend didn't get blown over by the wind, it sure is pumping out here in the Souf! Seeing as it's my 30th living year in 2019, I'd like to set myself a probably not very unique challenge, but a unique challenge to myself. I want to attempt to finish 30 events. I'm interested in cycling, mostly road but a bit of MTB is fine, nothing next level technical. Pretty strong runner, on and off road. Swimming, well, I don't bother with that! My cycling list, just out of memory looks like this so far (7) Fast OneR4VR4S947EmperorsAmashovaMidvaal 100Events I've missed out on that look appealing (3): Race to the SunTrapNet 360Garmin MTB race (I know I'm going to miss it, but at R50 entry!!)Running list: DischemRundelaRhythm runPharmaton EdenvaleI prefer events in Central Gauteng, but am willing to travel within reason. Races in other provinces are appealing only if one can make a weekend out of it. I'd like your contributions! Thanks!
  10. Hi hubbers. I am a first year sport management student studying at NMMU. Sport management is based of your chosen sport discipline and mine is cycling. I have been given an assignment regarding my sport. The question is, How would you market your sport in South Africa to increase the number of participants, sponsorship's and viewership to your sport. I would just like to get your guys opinion on what you would do to market cycling in South Africa. Looking forward to seeing what your guys thoughts are. thanks

Starting point: Vida Durbanville - Middle Ville Centre, Wellington Rd, Durbanville, Cape Town, 7550 Finish: Langebaan - On Tac Beach, Corner of Bree and Beach Road, 8 Main Jacoba, Langebaan, 7357 We will have a support vehicle following us. 17. Hi guys I shared this on FB to an overwhelming response this morning. So thought I'd post it here too. We decided we needed to improve the look of the Trailhead's coffee shop so I decide to do something I hadn't done in years - an oil paining. I used to be a Formula 1 automotive artist but it was a lot of work for little reward. I've wanted to do MTB/cycling scenes for a long time but with starting this business only got a chance while recovering from an eye operation last week (yes, hence the continuation of the Robodog meme ). http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd175/Seanf1art/IMG_20150710_064335_zps6nbnvyvu.jpg I will create a FB page for my art as I start to do more stuff. Planning on doing a close up of Mr Min and a few others when I have some more time. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10154000623749838&set=a.10153316723469838.1073741829.664109837&type=1

  22. Good morning all in Hubland, Reading through some recent threads, it seems that a few cyclists get very upset with "wheel suckers", people who effectively trail behind a cyclist ahead of him/her in a race situation. Now, when you are riding/racing in the more intense batches (vets, A, B etc.), riders have different goals. More often than not, one just wants to finish with the bunch as an example. The only way to do that is to either suck wheel, or to be so powerful that you drag the bunch from start to finish. I'd like to say that this split is 80/20 in favour of the "wheel suckers". What I anticipate the biggest gripe to be are the "wheels suckers" taking advantage near the end of the race, sprinting by and taking the win. Why are people so upset by this? Why do you think that if you lead the race from start to finish you deserve the podium spot? Kudos to you if you are capable of that, but that also makes you a target for subsequent races, because then people know who to "suck dry". What if you as a "wheel sucker" are feeling surprisingly good nearing the end and feel like you can take the win? Should you out of principle stay where you were? Example: Peter Sagan won the 2015 WC by sitting in the bunch until the few kilometers and going solo until the end. Yes, his forte is sprinting, so he wants to take maximum advantage. What do other people think? PS! This is just my opinion, no need to slam mine.

I am 1.78m tall and am doing this to get into shape and have some fun on the off road trails. Might possibly just use it also as a road bicycle just to get the fitness in during the week.
