    I'm looking at replacing my current MTB tyres (OEM Bontrager XR3, 29" x 2.3"), as the back is almost worn out and I'm struggling on corners with the front especially over loose rocks. Its my first time doing so and and apart from all the recent research I've done I have no prior knowledge. I do 90% of my riding on the DH and Snake trails in Tokai CPT which are Enduro and Trail trails respectively, Tokai has lots of hard-packed ground, with rock gardens, roots and loose small rocks. For what is worth, I'm looking at running a 2.6" front and 2.4" rear combo, I'm primarily looking at using Maxxis tyres for simplicity and in terms of availability, I'm looking at using the Exo + casing and the 3C Maxx Terra rubber compound on both front and rear, as they seem best suited towards my needs! Where I need assistance is choosing the correct tyre combo, the forerunner from my research and taking into account my local terrain appears to be a Assegai up front and a Minion DHR II at the rear. Another decent combo appears to be running the DHR up front and either a Aggressor or Dissector at the rear. I can't seem to find any stock of the Minion DHF hence not including it in any of the above combos. I'm looking for feedback from anyone using any of the above combos or tyres, with a specific focus on grip especially on corners, rolling resistance (speed) and durability, especially as I will be using the bike to climb up trails!

    Hey everyone I've recently noticed an increase of more enduro bikes (hopefully riders) on my local trails here in, Hermanus, in the Hemel en Aarde Valley. Although these trails are not bad, they do lack any form of challenge or gradient. A few mates and I have been building a pretty steep and gnarly-ish trail and would be keen to show or send the location of to anyone who is looking for something a bit different in Hermanus. If you're a local and have some spare time to contribute to finishing up the trail and or maintenance, it would also be greatly appreciated. If you are coming for a weekend and need someone to show you some of our more gravity focused trails we've built (and found ) do let me know.

    Hi y'all... I put together a video giving a bit of a run down on the process of adding GPS Overlays to a video. I set this up by first doing some color correction in Premiere, then exporting to Dashware (open source) and using the data collected form my Garmin 520, but uploaded to strava. Basically just exported the GPX file of the ride I wanted. Hope you enjoy!

    Hey guys, I am looking for an app or solution to time buddies doing a fun enduro. Un-offical enduro event. My ideal solution would be a real-time stopwatch over two or more devices that can start/stop from two different phones. So guy at the top hits start button, and then the timer at the bottom hits the stop button. If this system could store each rider's time, that would be even better - and if it could accumulate, order and save overall times to names or number of users that would be off the charts fantastic. Anyone know of a solution like this?

    Want to see what Team SA got up to at the EWS Trophy of Nations? Hit the Youtube link above... Myself (Martin Zietsman), Matt Lombardi and Jason Boulle had the privilege of representing South Africa at the first ever Enduro World Series Trophy of Nations, held in Finale Ligure, Italy on the 29th of September. We put together a video showcasing all the behind-the-scenes action leading up to the race, from arriving there, to our play day exploring the local trails, the goosebumps moments during the Nations Teams Parade, the fun we had practicing the stages and the action on race day. The Trophy of Nations pitted teams comprising the top 3 ranked riders from each nation against each other in a 1-day race to crown the overall World Champions. All 3 riders on each team had to drop into each stage within a 1 minute window and the times of all 3 riders are then combined to provide the final result. The winning team is the team with the shortest total combined time over the 5 stages...simple as that. We hope you enjoy the show....

    So I've been thinking lately... How cool would it be to pack a backpack with everything you need to survive (camping gear, clothes, food, etc.), head to the mountains, jump on a bike and complete a 3 - 5 day route while only camping next to your bike wherever the sun sets. I've done a few similar trips on motorcycles, but never on a mountain bike. Having spent quite a lot of time in Lesotho, it seems like an ideal place for something like this on a 140-160mm enduro bike. Is this a thing in the MTB world? Has anyone here done something like this, or would like to? If you have, please share the story..

    There's a neat new series done by Pinkbike, revolving around the benefits of becoming a fully sponsored team rider vs a full-on privateer. Adam, a Pinkbike staff member, has been supporting himself through EWS and other Enduro / MTB racing for a long time, but has never been able to dedicate the same amount of hours as the sponsored riders, nor get access to the new kit, enhanced training, support and logistical benefits as the pro's have on tap. This series aims to show how much of a difference the step to a fully sponsored ride & team can make to "Adam Average" He's by no means a slouch, but up until now he's had to train when he can, and work to supplement it.

    Enduro on a budget... The actual question is really, how tough is the general run of the mill enduro tracks? Is it possible to ride them, well enough to enjoy it and not feel like the bike is killing you, on a budget bike? At this stage I own a DS Merida One-Twenty 26'er with some decent parts on there for it's age. XT brakes, SLX groupset. My thinking was to upgrade the fork to something with 130mm travel and do an upgrade on the quality of the rear suspension. All and all I reckon I can do this for around R12k. Would you consider this as an option, or is it better to hang on a bit and buy a second hand machine for R20k?

    Hi guys I'm visiting Cape Town from the UK over Christmas & NY (arrive tomorrow and here until the 2nd Jan) - and bringing my long travel mtb with me. Does anyone know of any group rides in and around Cape Town I could join over the period? Either Table Mountain/Tokai or further afield? The event will be held over 2 days incorporating the best gravity orientated trails both the Howick & Karkloof trail networks have on offer.     Hey Guys, So i started a thread on here a week ago and that led me to deciding to upgrade my current 2016 Trance 2 instead of getting another bike. Currently wanting to replace the stock fox 32 ctd 140mm fork with a 160mm. Cant seem to find one down here but the new Fox 36 Performance Elite 160mm 27.5 Grip 2 or I have seen and read reviews on the MRP Ribbon. Do any of you ride one of the above or have any input? I was going to go with a cheaper fork but instead of putting cash into a new bike I'm going to get a higher end fork and then in a few years I can upgrade to a newer frame if need be and move the new fork over.     I currently have a hardtail XC bike but want to buy a bike more suitable for Enduro. I have narrowed my choices down to either the Trek Fuel EX, Trek Slash (alu) or Specialized Stumpjumper ST (2019).     Hey Everyone, I've been riding a 2016 Giant Trance 2 (140 travel trail bike) for a few years since it was released in 2016. Stay in Cape Town (Southern Suburbs) and ride everything from greenbelts, Table Mountain to Tokai. Also venture out to Stellenbosch, Boschendal, Durbanville, Elgin. So terrain from XC to a little bit more chunky. I've done XC races on it (not for time but more for enjoyment). I do enjoy the downhills and the rougher terrain, want to get better at jumping and drops and technical features as the excitement for me far exceeds racing and Xc type trails. I would like to start doing some Enduro as the uphills don't matter and I can keep improving on the downs. My plan for the next year is where this question comes in. I would like to get a hardtail or shorter travel FS bike eventually for the XC races that exceed 50km and lots of climbing although the Trance for me managed pretty well on races like Fedhealth and such. My main focus would be getting a slightly longer travel bike with better suspension ( not that mines bad but current fork is - fox 32 performance ) , better wheelset as I'm running stock Giants and more focused on the downs. I could upgrade the Trance with a better 140mm travel fork fox 34/36 or similar and get another wheelset on one hand. On the other If I had the money the Ibis Mojo HD4 looks incredible. Unfortunately it's a hard one to get hold of for a test ride so I'm going on reviews and geo which i understand is not the best way to go about it. I see it as a bike that will far exceed what I'm capable of now and I wont have to upgrade anything on it for a long time to come. I do ride smaller jumps, drops and stuff on the Tokai DH lines so not a complete novice but there is always lots of room for improvement. Lots of the reviews are based overseas and the terrain there is a lot different. I'm just wondering if I would still be able to take the bike on more mellow routes (kirstenbosch trail) out climbing, farm rides of 50/80km without it being way too much bike and sucking on anything but the downhills. I like to spend a lot of time on a bike so would like to be able to ride it anywhere. I know it wont climb as well as others but could it be too much bike for local trails and more chilled weekend rides. Any other bikes to look at, comments, advice.. feel free! here to learn from those who have test ridden, raced and tried brands I perhaps have not. Thanks in advance!

    And ended up with a floor full of parts that looked like this: Build went quite smoothly at around 3 hours. And ridden about 75km on it so far in the past week. Lots of playing around still to do on suspension, but finally when I get a break from work and travel will take some proper pics of it. Key takeaways: I dont like Eagle. It's my first non-Shimano bike. Shifter ergonomics modelled on Zuma's economics policies I'm sure.Those who say it feels like a 650b, are spot on. Much nicer than other 29er's I tried.I fitted the tyres on the rims and pumped them up to pop with a hand pump. Only thing to still do is to tidy up the brake hose lengths and bleed. More pics on weekend.
