  1. A few months back there was a newspaper article in the Cape Times about a bikejacking in Somerset West, that was caught on the cyclist GoPro. I even checked out the video of the robbery as uploaded on YouTube. Well today I attended Somerset West Regional court and witnessed two of the perpetrators sentencing. Magistrate Cannon had the following to say to the accused: "Your cowardice act have effects on many who enjoy the sports of cycling, who now has it in their minds that they are easy targets when enjoying their sport. You have thereby infringed on the constitutional right to freedom of movement of many...you need to be removed from society...Society expect it. The court cannot ignore the reasonable expectation of society." They were both sentenced effectively to 11 years direct imprisonment for the robbery. The gunslinger was given a further sentence of 3 years direct imprisonment for possession of a firearm without being licenced. Just thought this forum could get some good news.
  2. The Hub is often used to flame suppliers of bad service but here is a note on the incredible service from Omnico on my GoPro. Basically I needed a new lens for the casing for my Hero 2 which is discontinued and I couldn't find spares anywhere. Called Omnico, spoke to Shaheema, and she confirmed that they also did not have any replacement lenses but did have a complete case for the Hero 2. So I think, this is going to cost me upwards of R600 to replace, but no she couriered the replacement case to me in 2 days at no charge. Well done Omnico, you have one happy camper right here!
  3. Hey Hubbers, Just entered the world of GoPro and was hoping that the GoPro vets out there could offer some advice on options for mounting camera to the handlebars. I'm really just looking for a fwd facing camera and have seen handle bar and headset mounts of widly different prices.
  4. Hi guys I rode Tokai today for the first time and my freaking GoPro broke off the handlebar mount...I am almost certain it was on the first few bits of singletrack as you go through the gate and which is on your left...So if anyone finds it please let me know It is the original Black Edition in the waterproof case and has a 32 GB SD card in it (which should have some climbing vids on if you watch them). Any help much appreciated. Thanks, Cuan

  7. Another month down and time again to vote for the winner in our GoPro Photo of the Day competition. We've changed things up after the fake vote issues experienced last month. The intention was always for the competition to be community driven and in this spirit the final selection should rest with the community. However, instead of voting from the full month's images, an initial voting panel has narrowed it down to 5 finalists. And to simplify things you now choose just 1 image - your favorite - instead of the top 3 as before. Voting This time around it's simple. Just vote for your favourite image in the poll above. Note: If you choose to view the results of the poll before casting a vote you lose your vote. The winner will be based on the image with the most votes and will take home the GoPro Hero 3+ Silver Edition. In the event of a tie, a tie-breaker vote will be setup. Cast your vote and keep submitting your photos for June! Voting will close at 12h00 14h00 on Friday, 4 July 2014.
