  1. Does anyone know where i can get replacement inner padding for my fox flux helmet?
  2. Howzit all, I have 2 sticky mounts for my GoPro Hero 3+ (1 flat and 1 curved) but I dont have enough surface area on my Bell Volt to safely hold the camera to my head, A handlebar mount is just noisy and gives horrible footage, Has anyone found a good way to mount it on your pip? Many thanks
  3. POC is a Swedish helmet manufacturer, specializing in protective equipment for gravity sports. The clean lines and bold colouring of POC helmets tend to elicit strong reactions from onlookers- it’s either love or hate at first sight. I sit firmly on the love side of the fence, so I jumped at the chance to test their foray into protective headwear for road cycling, the Octal AVIP. Click here to view the article
  4. "A major Canadian study has found no link between cycle helmet legislation and head injuries, and has recommended governments focus on providing bike infrastructure to protect cyclists instead." "The study found helmet legislation did not reduce head injury rates, while female riders were injured less, and areas with a greater proportion of cycling trips saw lower injury rates" - See more at: http://road.cc/content/news/170525-study-finds-no-link-between-cycling-helmet-laws-and-head-injury-rates
  5. When I go into most bike shops it's seldom I will see a helmet that is not suited to the road or XC purposes. There's countless options of them out there. It's not often you see something with some rear and side support – more focused on the trail and all mountain side of things. I set out to see what I could find that is readily available in South Africa. Click here to view the article
  6. Looking at buying said lid. I do a lot of mixed riding, XCM and lately love doing technical sections such as Hakahana SP stages, Van Gaalen etc... Doing these at way more speed than my skills probably allow. Question is, is this worth it at R3500????
  7. Inspired by the heritage of fast and sleek Italian racing cars, Italian brand MET are launching the lightest, fastest and most aerodynamic closed helmet at the Tour de France with Team MTN Qhubeka. Click here to view the article

  9. I'm currently on the look for a full face helmet for downhill. The only real downhill helmet I've looked at is the Specialized Dissident at Helderberg Cycles in Somerset West, but they are currently out of stock and its a bit above my price range. I've looked at a few Fox motocross helmets at some motorcycle shops(everyone pretty much only has Fox helmets) and unfortunately I haven't been able to find anything that fits, is in stock and is in my price range. So does anyone know of a store that might have stock of some helmets(downhill or MX), I need to have it by Sunday morning. I'm from Strand but I don't mind driving to Cape Town tomorrow(Saturday) to pick something up. My budget is around R1100. I'm a size XL is anyone wants to know. Cheers
  10. With exaggerated rear cover, big vents and at least one model in the line up with bright colours, the 661 Evo AM fits squarely in the modern trail/ all-mountain helmet category. The Evo AM is also bang up to date on the spec sheet with features like the 360 BOA closure system, MIPS, and a magnetic buckle. Click here to view the article
  11. Kali Protectives recently launched their long-awaited Maya Enduro / All Mountain helmet. Not yet available locally, we managed to get our hands on an early sample to give you a taste of what's to come. Click here to view the article
  12. After a silly but painful fall this weekend and a couple since I've started properly getting back into riding - I'm keen to hear what protection you all wear when going out for a days riding. I know the learning curve in the beginning can be tough and that is also a reason for more falls and as one gets more experienced, technically proficient and confident, padding is less of a must have, although I'm sure no matter how good one is, **** happens... I normally only wear pads for what I would consider more challenging/technical trails/rides as I don't want to look like I'm about to do the Megavalanche when I'm just out for a day on the trails - But after this weekend I think I'll be wearing knee and elbow pads on every ride as I hate that I'm buggered for a week or two recovering and not able to ride or do any decent exercise due to an injury that could have been avoided or lessened the damage by wearing protection. I suppose I also think there's a bit of judgment from other riders that may think it's overkill or that I must be a serious rider only to get sniggers as they come bombing past along the trail... As I've got older, I'm realising I don't bounce back as fast as I used to and I'd prefer to be on my bike more than not so I'll be padding up from now on!
  13. Hi there Left my helmet & sunglasses at BP Broadacres this morning, about 9 a.m. (Monday 6 April). The helmet is a black Scott Wit, and the sunglasses are white Rudy Project with photochromic impact x lenses. Anyone possibly pick them up? Thanks, Pete
  14. Hi Guys, Any thoughts on the uvex range of helmets? Specifically this one: http://www.uvex-sports.com/typo3temp/_processed_/csm_41021817_953e27709f.png Retailing at Chat later for R599. Struggling to find an entry level helmet that fits my large head

  17. You might recall the black 661 EVO AM that we featured in our trail/ AM helmet shootout, that helmet came out on top of the bunch. But if the sleek dullness of the black and blue detailed helmet didn't satisfy your desire to stand out on the trail, then the "Le Mans" edition may be more to your liking. 20. if anyone picked up a helmet yesterday at Thaba Trails, Like a real chop i left it on top of my canopy and drove off, the guy in the parking lot said he saw the helmet fall between my bike and my canopy, so it could have fallen anywhere. Rode back the same route yesterday, probably picked up by a passer by or one of the millions of runners/spectators on the road yesterday.
