  1. Please keep an eye open for my silver Pyga, stolen out of my Garage on Sunday evening, Stans ZTR Arch wheels, SRAM XO and Shimano XT components, Selle Italia saddle
  2. Mate of mine had his PYGA stolen in Parow yesterday. PYGA One Ten 29 size large Raw aluminium Wheelset: ZTR flow with Schwalbe Nobby Nics and Red Hope hubs. Drive Train: XO cranks 3 x 10, XO front and rear derailleur, XO gripshift Bars: FSA 750mm , Seat post Rockshox Reverb dropper post with WTB speed saddle Fork: Rockshox Reverb dialled to 120mm Pedals: shimano XT trail. The serial number is unique: NUTR001
  3. The idea behind the PYGA OneTwenty was to make a bike that you can ride just about anywhere, however you like and have fun. It's not meant to be a marathon or enduro racer or anything as serious as that. But I don't doubt that you can do exactly that with it while laughing the whole time. Click here to view the article
  4. So, after having been riding (and enjoying riding) a fairly "mass-market" Scott Scale since the beginning of 2013, I decided it was time for something special again. The Scale's an amazing climber, and because of it's sub-70deg HA, it actually handles a bit of tech quite respectably, but I've been missing railing into berms flat out and then bouncing off the gnarly stuff on the way out. So, I grabbed the opportunity to buy a well-cared-for Pyga OneTen29 last week and proceeded to rebuild it with a mixture of new and used parts. The spec list: Frame: Pyga OneTen29 2012, serial number "Cliff", Shock: Rockshox Monarch RT3 Fork: Mongrel Rockshox Relevation (2012 lowers, 2014 RCT3 upper assembly with FastBlack stanchions) Wheelset: Novatec Flowtrail 29 Tyres: Rocket Ron 2.25 rear, Hans Dampf 2.35 front Cranks: XX1 156q GXP Derailleur: X9 type 2 short-cage Shifter: X0 black Brakes: XT 785 Rotors: XT RT76, 180mm front, 160mmm rear Pedals: XT 785 Trail Stem: FSA SL-K Bar: Truvativ Noir T40 Seatpost: Easton EA70 Saddle: Fizik Tundra 2 Mg The raw finish of the frame was looking a bit dull and scratched in places, so I took everything apart and applied some TLC with steel wool and a scourier sponge in places. Cliff from Pyga was very helpful in supplying a new decal kit, which pimped things out again afterwards. I spent a few nights last week and some time over the weekend building stuff up (thanks to Marc at Crown Cycles for helping with a few bits and bobs during Argus mania). The end result since last night is this: I have yet to ride it any further than the road in front of the house, so will report back as soon as the first ride is over. So far, I've been mighty impressed with the build quality and overall feel of the beast. Hot damn!
  5. Got myself a new bike, not the pyga i was hoping for but a anthem x 1. Beauty!!! Now what adjustments do i need to make? Already found the gears need adjusting and presume they will need more adjusting in a week or two as the cables stretch. Did my getto tubeless yesterday and as expected lost almost 1 bar pressure overnight as it still sealing. Also gears dint seem to shift smoothly. What else will need adjustment next 2 weeks?
  6. Hi guys, Basically I have 35k and was set on the Specialized Stump Jumper FSR until I researched the PYGA oneten 29er. Will this price get me a complete PYGA and is the PYGA really that much better that the trail bikes from Specialized and other reliable brands? Ill be doing most of my riding in Jonkershoek or areas close to Stellenbosch. Looking for a bike that has more travel than a standard XC mtb. So maybe the Specialized Enduro? Hopefully my dream can come true with the PYGA. David
  7. Hi from Portugal. I've come here as there are very few Pygas in Europe at the moment so I'm hoping there is a larger pool of knowledge here to get advice from. I'd would like to pick some of you Pyga owners' brains and compare some of your builds. I'm getting a large OneTen29 frame and would like to build a sub 12.5Kg bike but at the same time keep costs sensible. My plan was to go full XT drivetrain with SLX brakes, Rockshox Revelation Forks (20mm axle) and Truvativ T30 cockpit. I'm still undecided on wheels but was thnking of ArchEX on Hope Pro II Evo hubs (or similar) or Pacenti TL28 Rims on the Hopes. I believe both the Arch and Pacenti build to around 1900g for the wheelset. Tires will either be Rocket Rons or Ikons. Do you think with the above spec I'd be below 12.5Kg? What specs are you guys running and what sort of weights are your bikes coming in at?
  8. Hi guys Whats the difference between a Through axle and 12mm Syntace. The Chinese Carbon I'm looking at comes with a TA or QR at the back, want to go bigger/thicker/more stiff that QR so looking at the TA. But on my Pyga atm I have a 12mm Syntace, and I like it. G

  10. Hi all, Well it seems I will be in the market for a new Full Suspoension bike thanks to a generous donation from a relative. Thanks Uncle Jimmy , I'll ride it like I stole it. So I'm currently looking at the Trance 650b or the PYGA 650b. Any other recommendations of suggestions? Thanking You.
  11. My raw aluminum PYGA was stolen in Green Point Wednesday night. ZRT Arch wheels, Rock Shox front and rear. R2000 reward offered for it's safe return. Thanks Willem
  12. Hi guys Going to be swapping out the generic standard brake lines on my wife's Cannondale and my Pyga tonight with Jagwire lines. Just wondering, how much oil does a normal length line hold, say for the back brake. (Wanting to make sure I have enough oil in syringe). G
  13. It's kind of odd that out of all the bikes I rode at the Africa Cycle Fair, the four that stood out fit into two specific categories: full suspension trail and steel hardtails. I guess they are the two types of bikes that were most interesting to me, but they were also the ones that were the most fun out of any at the show. In so far as I could judge a bike based on a small offroad loop, here's what I thought of them. Click here to view the article
  14. Hubbers, I'm in the market for a new MTB frame, and would like to stick with aluminium, and not go the carbon route. After doing some reading on the Net, there's a very limited supply of "high" end aluminium MTB frames on the market. Why is that the case? Do the suppliers feel that there's no market for high end aluminium frames, and that people would rather buy a carbon frame for the same price as a aluminium frame? Also, why did PYGA stopped production of the Zero29? Same goes for Yeti with the BigTop. Surely there is "some" market for these frames? I was even inquiring the other day about a Santa Cruz Highball Aluminium....with the LBS replying....They don't import the alu version into SA. Momsen doesn't have the AL829 model for 2014? So it either a basic aluminium frame for entry level bikes....or carbon for the future?
  15. My PYGA and my son's One One were stolen on Sunday night from my garage in Southern suburbs, Cape Town. I bought the PYGA as Mark Hopkins' demo, so it's unique. It's the metallic burnt orange One Ten 29er dual sus (same colour as the 120 650B) that appeared on all the magazine covers. Large, spec'd with black Reba RLTi fork set at 140mm, XO/X9, Elixir R brakes and Hope/Arch wheels, Thomson stem, post and carbon flat bar, and black/red Gobi saddle. Onza/Rtichie tyres. Also Revolution Cycles stay guard and sticker. The On One is a medium matt black carbon 456 hardtail with no stickers, all XT, including the wheels and dual control shifters/brakes, Black/red Reba Race fork with poplock, FSA bar/stem/post, WTB saddle and distinctive glow in the dark Oury rubber grips, and Maxxis MiMo tyres. Both kind of unique bikes, so please keep a look out. The police are onto it but info gratefully received. Gutted.
  16. Hubbers... Need some technical info please. I'm interested in a PYGA OneTen frame, but on their website they stipulate the use of a 120mm travel fork on the frame. I have a Fox F29 CTD factory fork, but the travel is only 100mm. Can I use this fork on this frame? Any cons?
  17. Hi guys Some advice needed on the two bikes mentioned in the heading.I have done all the research on both bikes but still really undecided. If you ride one of these bikes please comment on the ride so I can decide on which one to get.
  18. I'm currently waiting for my pyga frame but am starting to wonder if the vipa isn't another option?
  19. Hey all, Im currently riding a Giant Trance 29er and I'm getting a lot more comfortable on the downhills and having a lot of fun with it, even started going to G-Spot and doing some of the medium sized jumps there. I have not ridden a smaller wheel size so I have no experience to draw from, but when you read about wheels the general consensus is that the smaller wheeled bikes are more fun/playful/maneuverable. Would it be a worth while switch to go with something like the Pyga 650b? I don't do any racing, and I suspect that there's not much in it between the wheel sizes when doing long distance slowish rides. What do you think? I'm going to try get hold of a demo bike, but it will be hard to draw any conclusions from one ride.
  20. I love my morewood zula, but think it is time for the "29er thing". Can`t decide witch is best within my budget. Looking at the Giant Anthem advanced (carbon), Merida carbon and then the Pyga. All about same price bracket with Pyga maybe a bit more. Do mostly XC. Did sani2c twice and doing berg2bush this year. Week and weekend rides more district roads with here and there some technical sections. I am 185cm and weigh 102kg! Big question is iff the Pyga`s travell is to much for my kind of riding? Any suggestions??
  21. I see the Heckler 27.5 has been launched Frame price in US$ is 1299. Aluminium only. mmmmm.... this or a pyga for a few rand more? pyga seems better value. any thoughts?
  22. After the spygate of Wikileaks and Bradley Manning, the USA faces another spygate disaster called PRISM and Edward Snowden. But then we all knew the US could monitor us with Echelon, so what is the big hype? Was it because the Chinese tried to hack them at their own game? It seems the US citizens are not concerned about the progamme but rather that it may be used to spy on US citizens as well.
  23. After the success of last week, 23 riders, we better do it again! Plan to do the normal Spruit route via the top of Delta Park, up to and around Emmerentia and then on to Alberts Farm and back to Fratellis. Ride is +/- 28kms and will be a gentle, until dark of course when everyone seems to turn into speed freaks! Everyone welcome of course. 17.45 RIDE: meeting at Fratelli's, cnr Conrad & Hillcrest, Blairgowrie. Leaving 18.00 & returning around 20.00 for pizza and beer with anyone who wants to stay. Will be dark around 19.15 so bring lights. Look for me on the silver Pyga.
  24. Was a good ride last week, even with Mikebike's broken collar bone.......so this week will be SLOWer! Everyone welcome of course. Plan to do the normal Spruit route up to and around Emmerentia and then on to Alberts Farm and back to Fratellis. Ride is +/- 25km and will be a gentle pace to avoid more race snakes breaking themselves. 17.45 RIDE: meeting at Fratelli's, cnr Conrad & Hillcrest, Blairgowrie. (leaving 18.00 & returning around 20.00 for pizza and beer with anyone who wants to stay.) Will be dark around 19.15 so bring lights. Look for me on the silver Pyga.
  25. I see both companies are planning / testing 650b bikes. Morewood's will be an upscaled Zula and Pyga's a downscaled One-ten. No doubt that both will be good bikes, but I wonder which one will be the better one? Does anyone have any extra info on the bikes? What I know / heard so far: The Pyga will be a 120mm bike with a slightly slacker head angle than the 29er. A longer travel version is planned for later.
